“Harvest in Sight • Joy Filling the Barn” Grand Celebration of Farmers' Harvest Festival in Wangcheng District, Changsha City

Autumn is the harvest season, and Wangcheng District is in the midst of autumn harvest. In October, Wangcheng is filled with the fragrance of rice and beans. The “Harvest in Sight·Joy Filling the Barn” 2021 Changsha Wangcheng District Farmers' Harvest Festival was grandly held on October 2 at the Taifengyuan Modern Agricultural Park on Tongguan Street. Nearly 60 businesses participated in the event, showcasing their specialty products on site.

The festival officially opened with a large-scale dance performance titled “Harvest,” which featured working people as the main subject. Through music and dance, it connected laborers from three eras, presenting changes in their tools, clothing, and the stage’s light, sound, and visual backdrop, vividly depicting the material and spiritual evolution of working people across different times.

At the venue, a wide variety of specialty foods were available, including flavored dried tofu, flavored fish maw, traditional hujiao biscuits, skewers, fried chicken, crispy pork belly, and small pot sweet fermented rice. A special agricultural product exhibition area was set up, featuring over 60 types of green and ecological agricultural products such as seasonal vegetables, bean and sesame tea, sweet potato chips, rice crisps, handmade chopped chili, honey, free-range eggs, cured fish and meat, and small fish and shrimp, which were highly popular among visitors.

The product exhibition was in full swing, with a constant stream of tourists.

In the Taifengyuan Agricultural Sightseeing Park, various farming competition events were heatedly taking place, including “Sweat Drops on the Soil,” “Pulling Together,” “Every Grain to the Barn,” “Fat Fish in the Lotus Pond,” “Each Grain Is Hard-Won,” and “Autumn Harvest Drills in the Rice Fields.” These farming competitions not only showcased the spirit of farmers but also boosted their enthusiasm for increasing income. The event was filled with laughter and continuous applause from the crowd.

At night, young folk singers, local musicians, and pioneering bands gathered in Tongguan Ancient Town, presenting a themed concert titled “On the Hopeful Fields” for visitors.
