Queuing at 2 am, traffic jams at 3 am, don't Changsha people sleep?

Hot hot hot hot hot hot, the passionate Changsha is even hotter now.

Since the summer vacation, Changsha has turned on a 37°C+ "continuous scorching" mode.

How hot is Changsha? A netizen did an experiment—sun-grilled steak, 70% done in 2 hours.

Although it's "heat-numbed", the internet-famous Changsha is indeed not to be underestimated, it can withstand such a "test by fire". This summer, Changsha's popularity has risen with the temperature—everywhere in Changsha is full of people, queues everywhere, day and night, crowds everywhere.

How many people have come? I can't count, maybe, probably half of the country has come to Changsha. Anyway, at Wuyi Square, some friends couldn't get food because of queuing (at meal times) and cried in frustration.

According to statistics from multiple platforms, Changsha is indeed a well-deserved popular summer tourist city—among the TOP10 hotel bookings during this summer (July-August) on Qunar, Changsha is on the list; on Tujia's TOP10 most popular homestay booking cities for summer, Changsha ranks third...

Because of the overwhelming tourism popularity, Changsha has even quietly started a new business—queue proxy. That is, helping tourists queue at various popular stores like Wenheyou, Tianbao Brothers, Chayanyuese, Yi'erkang, etc.

Don't doubt it. Many tourists have done research and know that many famous scenic spots and shops in Changsha are crowded. Due to limited time, many tourists don't want to spend too much time queuing, so finding someone to queue is a nice new experience, otherwise, you can only—queue, queue, queue.

Ask if you don't understand, why come to Changsha in such hot weather? Is it, as this netizen said, to be killed by spiciness, queue, and bask in the sun?

Of course not, most people come to Changsha for nightlife.

I heard that in this internet-famous city, there is a saying: "Nightlife just begins at 1 am." It's very common for young people to take a taxi out to consume at around 2 am.

Changsha's nightlife is also top-notch nationwide—on the 2021 China City Night Economy Influence Top Ten list, Changsha ranked second in the country, second only to Chongqing, ahead of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.

Look, at the east gate of Yuelu Mountain in Changsha, at 2 am, a long queue has already formed.

Look, at Wuyi Square in the "New York District" of Changsha, China, at 3 am, it's full of people everywhere.

And at 11:30 pm, the Changsha subway station is still like this, crowded shoulder to shoulder.

Many people ask, don't Changsha people sleep?

There's some truth to that. No way, because Changsha's nightlife is too rich.

If you plan to visit Changsha with only 1000 yuan, then this comprehensive guide to playing around Changsha will definitely let you enjoy a happy 3 days and 2 nights! The article is a bit long, compiled and published by Changsha local guide, Changsha Little Bee Self-Guided Tour. You can bookmark it and read it slowly.

First, a few noteworthy points.

1. Changsha's summer is really hot. Prepare for intense sun before coming.

2. If you want to drink Chayanyuese, you can order takeout at the hotel. There's no need to buy at stores near scenic spots because the queue is really long.

3. Hunan Museum must be reserved a week in advance. I didn't reserve when I came, and found that the museum was fully booked for 5 days after, so I have to go next time.

4. If you come to Changsha during summer vacation, book the hotel as early as possible. It doesn't have to be at Wuyi Square, but must be near a subway station for convenience. Especially recommend Changsha 51° Shallow Realm Hotel (Changsha IFS Guojin Center Wuyi Square Subway Station Entrance).

5. Don't drive to Changsha. Anyway, I, a veteran driver with hundreds of thousands of kilometers, really don't want to drive in Changsha city. Also, don't take motorcycles on the roadside; they are literally driving with their lives.

A day in Changsha starts with a bowl of rice noodles. I think the rice noodle shops near where Changsha people live, with many customers, might be more delicious. If you want to check out famous shops, you can go to Gongjiao Xincun, Aizi Rice Noodles, etc.

Day 1: Orange Isle, Wuyi Square, Wenheyou, Taiping Old Street, Pozijie.

The first stop in Changsha is naturally Orange Isle Scenic Area. The scenic area is free, but you must reserve in advance. For Changsha tourism, find Changsha Little Bee Self-Guided Tour, one-stop service for travel information, scenic area tickets, and chartered cars. The subway goes directly to the scenic area. At Orange Isle, it's recommended to take the 40-yuan round-trip shuttle bus because the distance to the destination is really far. Also, the round-trip bus is relatively cool.

After visiting Orange Isle, take the subway to Wuyi Square. Many of Changsha's internet-famous spots are around here. This place is called the New York Square of China. You can go to the 7th floor of Guojin Building to take photos with KAWS. I don't know why it's so popular, but just come here to take photos; that's what everyone does. Then walk the pink pedestrian crossing and eat at Huangxing Pedestrian Street. By the way, the black stinky tofu is really delicious. I risked gout and finished it.

If you want to eat Hunan cuisine, Benluobo at Wuyi Square is recommended by many. If you don't go very early, don't go because there will be no seats. If you really want to go, take a car to the Shewai store. On the way from Huangxing Pedestrian Street to Wenheyou, you can have lunch at Gongjiao Xincun's rice noodle shop.

About Wenheyou, honestly, the food inside is not recommended, as many people have complained. However, it is indeed an excellent place for photo check-ins, really photogenic. Plus, the summer in Changsha is too hot, and the indoor Wenheyou is pleasantly cool. After visiting Wenheyou, you can eat at Taiping Old Street nearby in the evening. I think you don't need a full meal; snacks can fill you up.

But in the summer, I think places like Wuyi Square and Jiefang West Road are better visited at night. Then you will feel that Changsha people's nightlife is really rich!

Day 2: Rice Noodle Street, Li Zijian Art Museum, Wanjiali, Yangfan Night Market

Sleep in until full. I had a bowl of rice noodles at Zhouji Noodle Shop nearby. I think this shop on Caie South Road is even better than Gongjiao Xincun.

In the afternoon, go to Rice Noodle Street to check in at Changsha's internet-famous spots. This is a must-check-in place for many people coming to Changsha. But there's no need to eat rice noodles there. Then go to Li Zijian Art Museum, a great photo spot. Among them, the huge statue in front made me silent for a long time.

In the evening, go to the rooftop of Wanjiali, the center of the universe, to take sunset photos. Each area has two fixed elevators directly to the 28th floor. I think the sunset here is more suitable for couples. But going down requires waiting, as there are too many people and the elevators are slow. At night, you can go to nearby Yangfan Night Market to experience Changsha's night market culture. Of course, mainly eating!

Day 3: Changjun Middle School, Yuelu Mountain

Day 3 is mainly about eating. Near Changjun Middle School, the Tianma Beef Pie, Mochi, and Jinji Tangyou Tuotuo are all recommended. Although you have to queue for the beef pie, the taste is really good. In short, in Changsha, nothing can't be solved by eating. If one meal isn't enough, have another.

Because the weather is too hot, I didn't go to Yuelu Mountain. I really didn't want to hike. If you have time, you can go. Alright, that's all for the 3-day-2-night Changsha trip. Next stop, join me to explore the mysterious Xiangxi. Hunan local guide, Changsha Little Bee Self-Guided Tour!
