Good Spring Getaway near Dalian | Laotie Mountain Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea Dividing Line
"East of Lingshi, Jieshi, to view the vast sea," since ancient times, viewing the sea requires climbing high. Dalian is a coastal city with many places to see the sea within the city. Xinghai and Donggang are good choices, but the Laotie Mountain Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea Dividing Line Scenic Area in Lüshun is a better place to get closer to nature and view the sea.
For a May Day short trip, the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea Dividing Line Scenic Area is also a good choice. In the coming June, cherries will be ripe. Friends can also organize a short trip with family and friends that includes fruit picking, mountain climbing, sea viewing, and farmhouse cuisine. In short, this is a scenic area suitable for spring and summer.
In the Laotie Mountain scenic area, there is a lighthouse and the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea dividing line. Outside, there is also the nearby Chenjia Village where you can pick fruit and view the sea. In the afternoon, fishing boats return, and if you want to buy some fresh seafood, you can bring it back to the city. Currently, the lighthouse area is not open.

Opening Hours | Summer 8:00-17:30, Winter 8:30-16:30. It is not recommended to visit in winter due to strong winds and slippery roads. Spring and summer are the best seasons for viewing, especially around June, when you can combine with nearby cherry picking for a fulfilling one-day trip.
▶ One mountain carries two seas (Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea dividing line) - it is best viewed on a clear day. It may not be as obvious on foggy or cloudy days.
▶ The scenic area is not large; it can be visited in less than an hour. The path consists of stairs with rest benches, so it's not too tiring.
▶ It is not recommended to visit this scenic area alone. It can be combined with other attractions in Lüshun or with Chenjia Village where the scenic area is located. Every household there grows cherries. In June, during the cherry season, there will be picking gardens, so you can combine activities.
▶ Chenjia Village has a spot directly by the sea with many fishing boats. In the afternoon, fishing boats return with their catch. You can go directly into the sea. I think it's a great place in summer to have fun by the sea - no one cares, you can set up tents freely, and the seaside photos are super photogenic.
Small Tips |
▶ Bring food and drinks in advance. There are places selling food and drinks at the entrance and halfway up the mountain, but prices are relatively high: Mizone 8 yuan, mineral water 4 yuan. Actually, it's acceptable. Outside the scenic area, there are few convenience stores since it's a mountainous area.
▶ There are a few small restaurants in Chenjia Village. I ate at one but forgot its name... The portions are large and quite affordable, but the interior environment is just average.
▶ Protect yourself from sun and wind. I always suspect that the sun in Lüshun and the sun in downtown Dalian are not the same sun. The UV rays in Lüshun are definitely twice as strong as in the city. If you don't protect yourself, you'll quickly experience the "European and American tanning" technique! Wind protection is also necessary. The seaside wind is extremely strong, and the temperature can suddenly drop by a few degrees.
▶ Finally, prepare a pair of good walking sneakers!
