Roaming the World (1392) Night Tour of Dalian Oriental Water City

One evening in early July 2020, I visited Dalian Oriental Water City with my wife. Although the pandemic was not over and we still had to wear masks when going out, there were already many tourists in the square outside the Oriental Water City.

The Oriental Water City is located in the Donggang Business District of Dalian. This area was originally a cargo terminal of Dalian Port. After the terminal was relocated, the area was reclaimed and redeveloped into the Donggang Business District. The Dalian Donggang Business District is situated in the eastern part of the main urban area of Dalian. It is currently the largest construction project in Dalian, covering an area of over 60,000 square kilometers. The photo shows the high-rise buildings in the Donggang Business District.

The Dalian Donggang Business District includes the Dalian International Conference Center, the Oriental Water City, the International Yacht Club Marina, the Kaidan Plaza, and the Donghai Plaza. The Donghai Plaza is adjacent to the passenger terminal of Dalian Port. Many passenger ships heading to Shandong pass by here every day.

To the east of Donghai Plaza is the International Yacht Club Marina, which can currently accommodate over 200 yachts simultaneously. It is expected that in the next few years, it will have at least 600 yacht berths.

Visitors can take a yacht out to sea from the marina.

The full name of Dalian Oriental Water City is "Haichang Oriental Water City" (hereinafter referred to as Oriental Water City). The photo shows the sign of the Oriental Water City.

Dalian Haichang Oriental Water City, also known as Dalian Venice Water City, is a tourism project invested by Dalian Haichang Group with a total investment of 5 billion yuan. Taking the Venice Water City in Europe as its blueprint and combining its own regional culture, the Oriental Water City introduces seawater into its 4-kilometer-long artificial canal, creating a distinctive water city space while maintaining the "spirit of the European water city." The total length of the Oriental Water City's canal is 4 kilometers, with an average width of 15 meters and an average depth of 1.2 meters. It is currently the only artificial canal in Northeast China that continuously introduces seawater.

Dalian Haichang Oriental Water City has multiple boarding points for gondola boats. The operating period is from April 1 to November 15 each year, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.

This is the "Cat's Sky City" concept bookstore. It originated in the ancient city of Suzhou in Jiangnan and has now spread to many places across the country, including Dalian.
