Where to Go for Island Tourism in Dalian? A Hidden Gem with Clear Water and Fine Sand at Super Low Prices
In Northeast China, many friends take their families on outings every summer while juggling work, so each trip is quite rushed. But now there's a solution: a little-known island in the Northeast that rivals southern islands — Dalian Haxian Island!
Haxian Island is located in the northern Yellow Sea and is one of the few islands in Dalian's Yellow Sea area. It belongs to Changhai County, Dalian, bordering Saili Island to the east and Guanglu Island to the southwest. Unlike Guanglu Island or Dachangshan Island, Haxian Island has not been artificially developed. Its fully natural scenic spots attract every visitor. Currently, Haxian Island has been designated as a Chinese National Marine Park, which speaks to its top-notch ecological environment.

Another reason to visit Haxian Island is the authentic beachcombing experience. The local fishing family inns are warm and hospitable, and many guests come on recommendations. Some inns even have their own beachcombing specialties. For example, at Wang Laowu's on Haxian Island, the owner takes visitors to spots where locals go beachcombing. Many travelers come specifically for the joy of experiencing local fishermen's beachcombing. Some friends tell the owner Wang Laowu upon arrival, 'I've watched many beachcombing videos online, and I came here to show off my skills.'
In fact, beachcombing depends on tidal changes. If you want a bountiful harvest, the best time to come is four days before and after the first and fifteenth days of the lunar month. The spring tides let you fully enjoy the fun of fishermen's beachcombing. Also, please note that July and August are the peak tourist season on Haxian Island, so be sure to book rooms in advance to avoid ending up sleeping on the streets.

Another attraction on Haxian Island that rivals southern beaches is Golden Beach. Haxian Island has a land area of only 4.72 square kilometers, yet it boasts a beach with clear water and fine sand. It's recommended to visit Golden Beach during low tide, when the tidal flats are larger, the scenery more beautiful, and the sand softer.
Haxian Island Five Tiger Rocks
Just off the coast of Golden Beach, there are five giant rocks in the sea — another attraction called Five Tiger Rocks. Located several hundred meters off the western end of Haxian Island, these five boulders symbolize loyal guardians, protecting the island's residents for generations. When a thin mist rises over the sea, the Five Tigers appear and disappear, both mysterious and magnificent. You can only climb onto the Five Tiger Rocks during low tide.
There's one more scenic spot on Haxian Island reserved for those with good fortune: watching the sunrise. Since Saili Island lies to the east of Haxian Island, you cannot see the sunrise over the sea from here. To watch the sunrise on Haxian Island, you have to stand at the highest point. But on summer mornings, the island often has fog, so whether you see the sunrise depends on fate!
