Two-Day Trip to Guanglu Island, Dalian
During the May Day holiday, we came to Guanglu Island in Dalian. Guanglu Island is located in the western part of the Changshan Islands in the northern Yellow Sea, and is one of the scenic spots in Liaoning Province, belonging to Changhai County, Dalian City, Liaoning Province. It is the largest island in the Changshan Archipelago. The scenery here is very beautiful. Together with my good friends, six families in total, we set off for Guanglu Island.
It takes at least over three hours to get from Panjin to Pikou Port in Dalian, and another one to two hours from Pikou Port to Guanglu Island. Our family of three took a direct ferry to Guanglu Island, which only took one hour, while my friends, passing through two small islands, took two hours to reach Guanglu Island. However, they encountered many seagulls, which I did not, and that was a small regret of mine. If you want to go to Guanglu Island, I recommend a one-day or two-day trip.
The homestay we stayed at had Moon Bay right in front, and there was a swing in the yard. Our group of friends had a great time playing there. Whenever we weren't exploring the beach, we would be swinging and chatting in the yard. The rooms in the homestay were also very nice; mine was the largest. In the evenings, my friends would come to my room to play. But the faucets had no hot water, and when my mother was blow-drying her shoes, the hair dryer even sparked! However, I have to say the location of this homestay was quite good.
On the first afternoon, we went to Moon Bay in front of the homestay to explore the beach. The coastline of Moon Bay Bathing Beach is curved and 1,500 meters long. The beach in Moon Bay is called Golden Beach, with fine sand, clear water, and a gentle slope. Both high and low tides surge vigorously, making it an excellent place for swimming and surfing, and the natural scenery is also unique. After lunch, the adults rested for a while, and everyone put on boots and started a happy beach exploration. As the tide began to recede, we strolled along the shore. The waves rolled in one after another, and we excitedly ran towards the sea, picking up many beautiful shells and conches.
Youyou's rain pants were particularly practical, allowing her to wade into deeper water to collect seaweed, and we were all very envious.
The sky was sometimes sunny, sometimes cloudy, and sometimes we heard thunder. Throughout that afternoon, we experienced the changing weather by the sea.
Around five o'clock, we split into two groups: one group climbed a pile of large rocks on the left side of the beach, and the other group headed to a small rocky seaweed area on the right side of the beach. The walk was quite far. On the exposed Golden Beach, we found a live starfish. Among the small rocks, we discovered crabs and small fish. When we turned over the rocks, a crowd of crabs and small fish would scurry away. We excitedly chased after them, some hiding in other crevices, some burrowing into the mud, and others staying put, foolishly waiting for us to catch them. On the way back, we strolled on the soft sand, which seemed to be coated with a layer of gold leaf. The sound of the waves and our laughter merged into one. This scene is deeply etched in my memory, unforgettable. That day, we learned to cooperate and had a very enjoyable and fruitful time.
Hidden under these rocks were many crabs and small fish.
The harvest of the first team.
The results of the second team.
The next morning, we planned to go to Laotie Mountain to get a panoramic view of the entire Guanglu Island from above. Unfortunately, it was not a good time; the scenic area was closed that day. So we ended up taking a coastal tour around the island to see the local residents and scenery.
The island's residents primarily make a living from fishing. In the past, there were many deer on the mountains and plenty of fish and shrimp in the sea. Laotie Mountain, in particular, was said to contain countless treasures, but we didn't see any of that now. We only saw sheep and mules on the island, and I heard that the treasures on Laotie Mountain had been dug up by others.
Our six little friends took a group photo here.
In the afternoon, we took a taxi to Salt Field for another beach exploration, to see if we could find something different. When we first arrived at Salt Field, it smelled very bad, so I recommend bringing a mask if you come here; it might be caused by duck droppings and decaying marine life. When we first arrived, the tide had just begun to recede, and we hadn't seen any living creatures, so we thought it was pretty boring. But later, as the tide gradually went out, we all caught many good things. Going further in, there were more and more creatures: oysters, shells, sea cones (haizhuizhui), crabs, lobsters, and small creatures similar to abalone, whose names I don't know.
There were many seagulls and ducks here, and we had a lot of fun chasing the ducks.
As the sun set, we reluctantly left. At that time, nearby fishermen began to come out with small baskets to pick sea cones, some using professional equipment to catch small lobsters. The low tide was just getting into full swing, but we had to go back for a seafood feast.

I was very happy these two days. On the morning of the third day, we boarded the boat to go home at 10 a.m. I played all the way with my friends, and after getting off the boat, we reluctantly parted ways. This two-day trip to Guanglu Island deepened the friendship between me and my friends. I learned to share with others and experienced the thrill of achievement when finding creatures on my own.
Guanglu Island, goodbye!
