Summer Escape to Dachangshan Island in Dalian: Island Trip for 300 Yuan per Day with Great Food, Accommodation, and Fun

I drove from Shenyang to Dalian's Pulandian Pikou Port, then took a ferry. Along the way, flocks of seagulls chased after us, and before I knew it, I had arrived at Dachangshan Island.

Dachangshan Island Town is located within the National Island Forest Park, a provincial-level scenic area, and among the Changshan Islands, one of Liaoning's Top 50 Scenic Spots. It serves as the political, economic, cultural, and military center of Changhai County, and is also one of the important tourist scenic areas of the Changshan Islands.

There are plenty of guesthouses on the island. We picked one right by the beach and settled in. And so, our wonderful island vacation began.

Here, 300 yuan per day covers accommodation and three meals, and the food is no joke. Every meal, the owner piles the table with crabs, scallops, mantis shrimp, skate, and oysters—enough to eat your fill.

If you want, you can also enjoy the world-famous Dalian natural sea cucumbers, abalone, and sea urchins. As long as you don't mind gaining a few pounds, go ahead and indulge on the island.

After eating and drinking our fill, we could go fishing out at sea, watch the sunrise over the cross-sea bridge, sunbathe on the clean, soft sand, or swim in the natural bathing beach. Every time the tide went out, we could join the fishermen in beachcombing, and the joy of the harvest was always unexpected.

Choosing early morning or dusk, I would rent a shared e-bike and ride across Changshan Bridge to Xiaochangshan Island. There, Xiaoshuikou Forest Park hugs the mountains and the sea, with green hills, blue waters, pavilions, and a glass walkway—all complete. The scenery is uniquely beautiful.

On Dachangshan Island, one cannot fail to mention Changshan Bridge, a stunning landmark on the island. The bridge is 3.45 kilometers long, built to first-class highway standards with two-way four lanes, and a design speed of 60 km/h.

This bridge connects the two islands over the sea, so it truly deserves the name 'cross-sea bridge.' It is also the first true cross-sea bridge in Northeast China.

Building a bridge between the larger and smaller Changshan Islands had been the dream of the islanders for generations. On this trip to the two islands, I could still deeply feel the love the residents have for Changshan Bridge and the joy that its construction brought them.

Dachangshan Island boasts beautiful scenery—rugged reefs, rolling hills, dense forests, azure waters, and clean bathing beaches—all combining to create its charming allure for summer escapes, sightseeing, vacations, and recuperation.

There are also attractions like Qixiang Garden, Sanyuan Palace, Beihai Bathing Beach, the Monument to Island Building and Island Defense, the Twin Phoenixes Facing the Sun Tower, the West Mountain Stele Relic, and Shangma Stone—all worth a visit.
