Wandering the World (1567): Qingfeng Town (Chuang Guandong) Film and Television Base
In early November 2021, during a trip to Lüshun, I visited the Qingfeng Town (Chuang Guandong) Film and Television Base. Pictured is the entrance to the Qingfeng Town (Chuang Guandong) Film and Television Base.
Located in Shuishiying Subdistrict, Lüshunkou District, Dalian City, Liaoning Province, the Qingfeng Town Film and Television Base is 5 kilometers from downtown Lüshun and 40 kilometers from downtown Dalian. Pictured is the ticket office of the Qingfeng Town (Chuang Guandong) Film and Television Base.
Construction of Qingfeng Town began in 2008, with a planned total investment of 1 billion yuan, a total planned area of 1.22 million square meters, and a core construction area of about 480,000 square meters. Pictured is a guide map of the Qingfeng Town (Chuang Guandong) Film and Television Base.
Over the years, Qingfeng Town has hosted nearly a hundred popular film and television works, including "Chuang Guandong: Part 2," "Mother-in-Law Came," "Xiao Yi Duo He," "The Brink," the movie "The Message," "Special Train No. 1," "The Steel Age," "Chuang Guandong: Prequel," "Bitter Cold," "The Hidden Dragon," "Mother Wants to Remarry," "The Linglong Bureau," "In the Silence," "Hero Fei Ge," "Wang Dahua's Revolutionary Life," "The Scholar Meets the Soldier," "Brothers Open Fire," "The Battle of Jiangqiao," "Dr. Qin," "Born in the 1970s," "Xiao Cao Qingqing," "The Splendid Years of Foster Mothers," "The Fei Ge Team," "The Frontier of Love," "Little Reunion," "Patriot," "National Memory," "Skull and Eagle," and "The Old Tavern." Pictured is a still from "Chuang Guandong: Part 2."
Over more than a decade, Qingfeng Town has built scenes including the Chuang Guandong Folk Culture Village, Old Dalian Building Complex, Film Workshop Area, Sandao Valley Village, War Ruins Location, and Joint Location, gradually becoming the largest and most scene-rich film and television base in Northeast China.
Because the Qingfeng Town (Chuang Guandong) Film and Television Base is quite large, we chose to take a shuttle bus. Chartering a car for four people for two hours cost 200 yuan.
The Chuang Guandong Folk Culture Village was built for the filming of "Chuang Guandong: Part 2." It covers an area of 48,000 square meters, with a building area of nearly 12,000 square meters. It consists of Shandong Compound, Wang Family Compound, Workers' Compound, Jiao Family Compound, Luo's Shantytown, Police Station, Shops and Streets, and other architectural complexes with distinctive Northeastern characteristics. It is the only real-life cultural village in China themed on Guandong folk culture, restoring the regional cultural features of Northeast China and recreating the historical traces of Guandong. The Old Dalian Building Complex was built for the TV series "Three Brothers Fighting with Blood." It covers an area of nearly 60,000 square meters, with a building area of nearly 40,000 square meters, vividly recreating the urban style of old Dalian. Photo taken at the Old Dalian Building Complex.
Old trams, Dalian Civil Affairs Office, Old Qiulin Department Store, Yamato Hotel, Dongguan Street, Russian Style Street, Japanese Style Street, and the old railway station all carry the urban memories of Dalian. Photo taken at the Old Dalian Building Complex.

In addition, during its more than a decade of operation, Qingfeng Town has accumulated a large number of joint location resources, which serve as a powerful supplement to film and TV shooting scenes. Examples include the school scene from "Goodbye Mr. Loser," the old buildings of Taiyanggou, Lüshun Museum, Lüshun Railway Station, as well as rich indoor scenes such as factories, villas, offices, police stations, and hospitals. Qingfeng Town has over 60 prop vehicles, mainly including military vehicles like old Jiefang trucks, GAZ trucks, Willys jeeps, sidecars, and artillery vehicles; vintage cars like old Shanghai and Plymouth sedans; and modern-era prop vehicles like old buses, old ambulances, and police cars.

At the end of 2017, the crew of "Skull and Eagle" chose this location to build major scenes such as the geological exploration team, Eagle Village, Shaman Sacred Tower, and Korean Village. The shantytown "Luoshi Circle" is a typical poor people's settlement. Old wells and blacksmith shops stand still as before.

The uniform thatched cottages are low and shabby, yet they are distinctive local eateries in reality, intriguing visitors to try them.

Strolling through the town, enjoying the gentle breeze, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, we casually walk, look, stop, and take photos. The scenes before our eyes suddenly transform into images from films and TV dramas. Even though we are right there, it feels dreamlike... Over more than a decade, Qingfeng Town has received many honors, such as being among the first batch of "National Designated Filming Locations," a National AAA-level Tourist Attraction, a National Excellent Science Education Base, and a Liaoning Provincial Cultural Industry Demonstration Base.
