Roaming the World (1569): Lüshun Sun Valley
In early November 2021, during a trip to Lüshun, I visited Sun Valley. The photo shows the landmark of Sun Valley—Lüshun Museum.
Lüshunkou District is about 40 kilometers from the center of Dalian. The beauty of Lüshun’s environment is widely acknowledged, a beauty manifested in natural creations and human embellishments, with Sun Valley Scenic Area arguably being the most representative. Conventionally, in Lüshun’s urban area, the fork west of Liberation Bridge is considered the starting point of Sun Valley Scenic Area, extending westward. The photo shows Lüshun Museum bathed in autumn colors.
Lüshun, backed by mountains and facing the sea, is the backyard garden of Dalian. “View cherry blossoms in spring, admire roses in summer, and enjoy colorful leaves in autumn” has become a cultural tourism brand of Dalian. The photo shows the colorful leaves in the back garden of Lüshun Museum.
Sun Valley is one of the best-preserved historical and cultural districts in China, with the largest number of existing modern and contemporary historical sites. The photo shows an ancient cannon at Lüshun Museum.
Every autumn, the vibrant leaves of Sun Valley drape this small town in a golden robe. The streets are covered in golden armor, with century-old trees and classical architecture complementing each other, making visitors linger. The photo was taken in the back garden of Lüshun Museum.
Sun Valley is indeed poetic and picturesque. It borders the sea to the southwest, has hills and slopes to the northeast, and flat land in the middle. The roads are wide, lined with flowers, plants, and trees, especially beautiful in autumn. The photo was taken in the back garden of Lüshun Museum in Sun Valley.
The beautiful street scenes and colorful leaves attract photographers, live-streamers, influencers, and painters from all over. They revel amidst the vibrant leaves of Sun Valley. The photo was taken in the back garden of Lüshun Museum.
The Sino-Soviet Friendship Pagoda is located on the square in front of the main gate of Lüshun Museum. It was completed on February 24, 1957, and the inscription on the foundation stone was written by Zhou Enlai. The pagoda is 22 meters high, with white clouds and doves of peace soaring on the upper part, symbolizing the unity and friendship between the Chinese and Soviet peoples.
Around the Sino-Soviet Friendship Pagoda stand some century-old junipers with unique and beautiful shapes and verdant colors. Locals call them “Torch Pines,” said to be unique in China.
Lüshun was a key battleground in the Sino-Japanese War and the Russo-Japanese War, so it retains a large number of old Japanese and Russian buildings. Based on this, the local authorities have built a Japanese and Russian style street. The photo was taken in Sun Valley Scenic Area.
As the saying goes, “Half of modern history is written in Lüshunkou.” Among the old buildings in Sun Valley, many bear historical traces, such as the Prince Su’s Mansion, the Yamato Hotel (once the residence of the notorious Japanese female spy Kawashima Yoshiko), and the former headquarters of the Japanese Kwantung Army. The most representative is the European-style Lüshun Museum. The photo was taken in the back garden of Lüshun Museum.
Every early November, the ginkgo trees in Sun Valley enter their best viewing period. Thousands of people pour into Sun Valley every day, capturing the vibrant leaves in their memories and phones.
The center of Sun Valley Scenic Area is Lenin Street and Culture Street, while some lesser-known alleys are also quiet and beautiful. The photo was taken in Sun Valley.
This is the entrance of Taiguang Street in Sun Valley, where many tourists come to enjoy the autumn scenery.
In late autumn, Sun Valley is covered in golden leaves, with scenery as beautiful as walking in oil paintings—quiet and peaceful. Such a beautiful place naturally deserves a commemorative photo of my wife.
The ginkgo trees on both sides of Taiguang Street are golden in late autumn, with fallen leaves covering the ground in a golden glow. Motor vehicles are prohibited, but motorcycles are an exception.
Motorcycles become props for visitors.

Someone brought their dog to enjoy the autumn scenery.
There is a Lüshunkou dialect wall here.
The frostbitten Virginia creeper on the wall is also beautiful!
The colors here are too bright, too rich!

These dogs are also showing off!
The decorations on the back of the motorcycle are also cool!
At the entrance of Taiguang Street, there is a kiosk where you can buy drinks and convenience foods.
Here you can find a local specialty of Lüshun—sugar drum flatbread.
Some small streets near Taiguang Street are also beautiful, with fewer tourists, so the photos turn out quite nice.

On this street, there is also the Lüshun Sunset Red Nursing Home.

This is a paradise for tourists and a playground for children.

It is said that this elderly man in a wheelchair came to Sun Valley from Anhui Province in a motorhome, just to see the vibrant leaves with his own eyes and experience the beauty of autumn in Sun Valley.

At noon, we dined at this whole lamb restaurant in Sun Valley, with a golden scenery in front of it.
