Wandering the World (1579): Dalian Children's Park
One day in late April 2022, I visited Dalian Children's Park. The photo shows the south gate of Dalian Children's Park.
Dalian Children's Park is located on Guilin Street, Zhongshan District, Dalian. The photo shows Guilin Street near Dalian Children's Park.
As early as 1909, this area was a buffer pond for flood drainage and water storage, named "Jingge Pond." By 1936, the pond was enclosed to form a park, named "Jingge Pond Children's Garden." Photo taken at Dalian Children's Park.
Before liberation, the park was severely damaged. In 1951, the Dalian Port Authority repaired and renovated it, renaming it "Harbor Park." In 1953, the port transferred the park to government management. Based on the post-liberation renaming of "Jingge Pond" to "Mingze Lake," the park was renamed "Mingze Park." The photo shows the marker stone of Mingze Lake.
In April 1972, the park was renamed "Children's Park" and has been used ever since. The photo shows an introduction to Dalian Children's Park.

With the spring weather clear and bright, red flowers and green willows, the Children's Park in spring radiates vibrant vitality.

Despite the impact of the pandemic, there are still many visitors. Under the warm spring sun, two elderly people are looking at their phones.

The small pavilion extending into the center of the lake is natural and rustic. Often, good singers stand in the pavilion facing the lake, either practicing their voices in the early morning or singing like fishermen in the evening.
The plastic track built along the south shore of the lake is a favorite for fitness enthusiasts.

A wooden boardwalk along the north shore of the lake follows the shoreline. Some people are walking, others are training dogs.
The Children's Park also attracts many birds. The photo shows geese and ducks in the park.
Of course, the Children's Park has a playground for children. On a warm spring day, it's quite lively here.

Such a beautiful park naturally requires the maintenance of garden workers.
A gentle breeze caresses the green willows, magpies chirp crisply on the branches, and the flowers are in full bloom. The Children's Park makes visitors linger and forget to leave.
