Traveling Far and Wide (1585): Early Summer at Baiyun Yanshui

One day in early June 2022, I visited the Baiyun Yanshui Fitness Park in Dalian with my wife. The photo shows a commemorative photo taken by my wife at Baiyun Yanshui Fitness Park.

Dalian Baiyun Yanshui scenic spot is located in the Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area in the southern part of Dalian city. Initially, this area was just a forested mountain with grave mounds around. In the late 1980s, a Dalian enterprise invested and transformed it into a fitness park, which is what Dalian locals call Baiyun Yanshui. Baiyun Yanshui is located in the lotus-shaped mountain range discovered by the famous geologist Li Siguang. The Lianhua Peak viewing platform is the highest peak in Dalian city. The photo shows a commemorative photo taken by my wife under the Lianhua Peak viewing platform.

Baiyun Yanshui is located at the foot of Baiyun Mountain, and was once one of the most distinctive scenic spots in Dalian. The terrain and landform of Baiyun Mountain resemble seven blooming lotuses. Because Baiyun Yanshui is situated within the lotus-shaped terrain of Baiyun Mountain, and the outline of its water surface resembles a flying wild goose, it got its name. The Lianhua Mountain Range consists of seven peaks, so the renovation took the number '7' as the design theme, mainly comprising the Qiyun Qinxian Square, Qifeng Qulang, Cuigu Xifeng Qiu Chang, Qicai Nishang Big Stage, Qilian Yinzhu Water System, etc. The photo was taken at Qifeng Qulang.

In 1995, the first phase of Dalian Forest Zoo planned Baiyun Yanshui within its scenic area. In 2009, the municipal government returned the 200,000 square meters of green space including Baiyun Yanshui, which was in the paid area of Dalian Forest Zoo, to the people. The photo was taken at Dalian Baiyun Yanshui Fitness Park.

Wooden boardwalks were built inside the park, allowing for a circular walk. Taking a leisurely stroll around, it feels like 40 to 50 minutes would be enough. The photo shows the wooden boardwalk in the park.

After the completion of this park covering about 200,000 square meters, it has been greatly upgraded compared to before. Not only does it have sports fields, fitness squares, and babbling water systems to meet the needs of citizens of different ages for sightseeing, leisure, and fitness, but the park also has planted hundreds of species and over 3,000 trees, becoming a plant museum for science education bases for primary and secondary school students. After the renovation, Baiyun Yanshui Fitness Park remains free and open to the public. The photo shows the landmark sculpture of the park.

There are also plenty of resting spots in the park, including several wooden long corridors.

Baiyun Yanshui has a quiet environment, fresh air, surrounded by mountains, and blue lake water. It is an ideal home for wildlife. This is a wild sika deer that my wife is feeding.

Exiting through the south side gate of Baiyun Yanshui Fitness Park and the first phase of Dalian Forest Zoo leads to the western section of Binhai Road, from where you can overlook the Cross-sea Bridge.
