How to Explore Dalian? These Two Distinctive Streets Make You Feel Like Abroad—Perfect for Strolling!

I've visited Dalian in Liaoning several times and always felt it's a great city for a vacation, but I've never been in spring. This trip allowed me to experience a different kind of scenery.

"Donggang, Diamond Bay, Xinghai Bay, Sculpture Park—all are great. It's so easy to enjoy the sea in Dalian!" said a friend. Besides seeing the sea, Dalian is also perfect for leisurely walks.

On this trip, I visited two distinctive neighborhoods in Dalian: one that felt like a trip to "Russia," and another that transported me to "Italy," as if I were abroad.

1. Russian Style Street

Dalian's Russian Style Street has a history of over a century. This street, only 470 meters long, is located north of Shengli Bridge in Xigang District and is also called "Tuanjie Street."

Unfortunately, due to the ravages of war, many old buildings have disappeared, but 38 structures from the former Far Eastern Belarus era remain, forming the best scenery on this street.

Now it has been transformed into a tourist characteristic street and a must-visit spot for travelers to Dalian. Coffee shops, hotels, souvenir shops, art galleries, and markets—everything you need is here.

Walking along the street, I encountered a flash mob performance with Russian-style dancing—the atmosphere was so lively!

Beautiful Russian women smiled warmly and were happy to take photos with tourists.

The Russian Style Street is very popular. Even though it's not yet the peak tourist season in Dalian, there were already crowds of visitors.

I sat with a friend in a café, watching people come and go.

A building covered in purple flowers was truly beautiful, with both real and fake flowers attracting many tourists to linger.

I watched a college student painting stroke by stroke—the artistic atmosphere was rich.

This street is perfect for a slow stroll. All kinds of small shops have great aesthetics.

For those who love taking photos, the scenery here is very photogenic.

I stood there for a long time listening to a performance, marveling at how cosmopolitan Dalian is!

Street-side shops sell Russian bread, Russian nesting dolls, and Russian chocolate—it really feels like traveling through time.

2. Oriental Venice Water City

That night, I felt as if I were in Venice, Italy—full of romance.

After dinner, my friends and I went to the "Oriental Venice Water City" in Donggang, which is a national-level tourism and leisure block.

Located in Dalian's Donggang area, the Oriental Water City was designed by the internationally renowned French A.R.C. Architecture Design Firm.

Taking Venice as its blueprint and incorporating the local regional culture, seawater is introduced into a 4-kilometer artificial canal, creating a unique water city space.

There are various specialty restaurants, cafés, and European-style buildings—full of romance. I especially recommend visiting the World Music Culture Museum.

The World Music Culture Museum, fully funded by Mr. Zhang Jingxuan, is the first museum in China to integrate Chinese and Western music culture.

The museum includes eight themed exhibition areas: Ethnic Music Culture, Western Music Culture, Organ and Piano, Music Box, Musician Records, Gramophone, Southern Acoustic Technology Experience, and Sound Technology Experience.

The music boxes of various shapes are exquisite.

The World Music Culture Museum presents the development history of world music culture and sound recording and playback devices. I happened to hear a performer playing "Für Elise" on a John Broadwood piano.

I also enjoyed a classical music performance—I can still hear the lingering sound of the chimes.

Here, I listened to the timeless classics of Chinese and foreign music masters passed down over centuries, appreciated the exquisite artistic treasures of century-old masters, and felt the magical charm of music culture.

Leaving the World Music Culture Museum, I took a gondola ride to enjoy the scenery on both sides from different angles, experiencing the romantic coastal city of Dalian.
