Rare Natural 'Shallow Water Plaza' Can Accommodate Thousands Simultaneously, Dubbed a Water-Friendly Paradise
In the scorching summer, always staying home with air conditioning, cola, and the sofa is utterly boring... Now that summer vacation is here, kids at home are surely glued to their phones all day, leaving parents worried. Just like a good friend of mine told me: they want to go out, but it's too hot; they're looking for a cool place for a family outing—any recommendations?
Today, I'm recommending a 'water play paradise'! Even if you can't swim, you can still have a blast! Baishuiyang Yuanyangxi Scenic Area is located in Pingnan County, Ningde City, Fujian Province, and is one of Fujian's eight major scenic areas. Baishuiyang and Yuanyangxi are two separate places with some distance between them, offering different scenery and different ways to enjoy.
The Baishuiyang Scenic Area is renowned as 'the world's unique wonder, a mystery of the universe' due to its special geological landforms, and is currently the rare shallow water plaza discovered in the world.
Baishuiyang is a natural shallow water plaza, with a flat riverbed about 2 kilometers long, up to 182 meters wide, covering a total area of 80,000 square meters. The magic lies in the even flow of water over this flat stone surface, reaching only ankle-deep. Both adults and children find it irresistible! Within the scenic area, the scenery on both banks is beautiful and pleasant, with lush greenery as far as the eye can see, which is also very soothing for the eyes.
I recall that time when our group had an unrestrained water fight here—it was incredibly satisfying! Happiness is truly contagious; everyone was having a great time, whether familiar or not, playing together. The sheer exhilaration was so refreshing!
As the water flows over the ankles, the coolness dissipates the heat. I must say, this place is perfect for those who love water but can't swim, and it's great fun even with kids! Playing with children here can also enhance parent-child bonding. Why not?
Between the middle and lower reaches, there is a nearly 100-meter-long natural slide, where many people line up to experience surfing. Riding the current downstream is called a 'natural surfing pool,' which is thrilling and fun.
Besides water activities, you should also visit Yuanyangxi. The Yuanyang Macaque Nature Reserve is the only mandarin duck reserve in China. The scenic area is located downstream of Baishuiyang, named Yuanyangxi because thousands of pairs of mandarin ducks come here from the north to spend the winter each year.
In the scenic area, the forest is dense, with pools and waterfalls linked together, creating beautiful scenery. Here, you can occasionally encounter playful macaques, adding a touch of wild charm.
This summer, why not come to this magical Baishuiyang, leave the noisy city behind, and embark on a cool water-friendly journey!
