Facing the Sea, with Spring Blossoms: A 2-Day Trip to Xiapu
The sudden outbreak of the pandemic in 2020 disrupted everyone's lives. Seeing the frontline workers fighting the epidemic with such dedication stirred a thousand emotions. Suddenly, I felt that the greatest happiness is simply being together with family, living safely and peacefully. To pay tribute to the medical staff, we took advantage of our doctor friend's rare two-day break. We invited several families and brought the kids to experience the renewal of nature. The children from the three families were all six years old, so they could play together harmoniously.
Due to the pandemic, to avoid unnecessary trouble, all three families chose to drive themselves.
On the morning of July 25 at 9:30, we drove from Fuzhou (2.5 hours) to Xiapu county town, near the Haowanjia Building Materials Market, to eat at a food stall.
After lunch on July 25, at 1:30 PM, we drove from Xiapu county (30 minutes) to Yangjiaxi. The ticket for Yangjiaxi is 128 yuan, or a combo ticket for 168 yuan (includes the glass walkway + one activity of your choice). The zipline and water slide are 58 yuan each. After entering, you first climb a mountain path for 25 minutes to reach the glass walkway, then walk another 20 minutes to the glass water slide. After sliding down, you have to climb another 25 minutes to reach the zipline to slide down. The zipline charges even for children, all at half price. Adults hold children while riding. If the child is too timid, it's best not to ride, as violent shaking poses a risk and the staff won't allow it. If you don't dare to take the zipline, you can walk 20 minutes to exit the scenic area. The whole experience takes about 2.5 hours. Simply put, if you don't do any activities, it's just a hiking spot, but it's quite nice to bring kids for the activities. The popular photo spot is not here; it's about a 10-minute drive away. Our group was all leisure-type travelers with no photography enthusiasts, so we skipped that spot.
At 5:00 PM on July 25, we drove from Yangjiaxi (40 minutes) to Sansha Town to check into Xiaying Jintan Homestay. This homestay was absolutely amazing โ it had its own swimming pool. The owner, Teacher Zheng, is also a swimming enthusiast who can teach kids to swim and film underwater swimming videos. In the evening, we could first go to the mudflats to dig for seafood, then eat in the nearby town, and come back to swim at the homestay.
On July 26, we woke up naturally. The pool was extremely attractive to the kids. As soon as they got up, they ran to swim. Around 11 o'clock, we asked Teacher Zheng to arrange a boat for sea fishing, letting the kids experience hauling nets at sea. Most of the group got seasick, so this activity should be chosen with caution. Our family of three was fine. The boat cost 600 yuan and hauled 10 cages of seafood โ whatever we caught was up to the sea. After returning to shore, we paid a 60 yuan processing fee, and the homestay prepared the seafood for lunch. I had prepared a cake for the child whose birthday happened to be that day, and we shared an unforgettable birthday celebration.
