Travel to Sansha, Live Like a Local, No Regrets in Life

The best time to visit Xiapu is from April to December each year. From a photography perspective, April to June is the season for seaweed harvest and fishing for fry, with many labor scenes ideal for shooting; July to September is the typhoon-prone period, when the sea surface is clear and suitable for capturing sea and sky light, but pay attention to weather changes and beware of typhoons; October to December is the season for harvesting laver; the whole year is suitable for shooting sunrise and sunset over the sea. This travelogue mainly introduces the attractions of Sansha in Xiapu.

Location: Liuyun Temple is located on the Qisha Road section of Sansha; from Xiapu county town, go 200 meters past the Sansha gas station to reach Liuyun Temple.

Reason: Nestled between mountains and sea, it offers a perfect spot for seascape photography with its high vantage point providing broad and far-reaching views; you can also pray for peace in the various Buddha halls.

This is an aerial view of Liuyun Temple, with rugged rocks and elegant pavilions, truly deserving the title 'Little Putuo of Eastern Fujian.'

Location: At the old Xiapu bus station (near Beimen Hotel, also called Beimen Station), take a shuttle bus to Sansha Town, departing every 15 minutes, passing by Dongbi, fare about 15 yuan, journey 50 minutes; from Sansha Railway Station, take a car, passing by Dongbi, fare about 17 yuan, journey 40 minutes.

Reason: Dongbi leans against the mountain and faces the sea, with a wide view, making it an ideal spot for shooting sunset. On the beach, a winding water channel, a small stream flows through, washing out complex and varied textures; the soft lines under the sunset glow present a golden hue, adding vitality to the colorful beach.

Location: The Light and Shadow Boardwalk is on the way from Xiaohao to Dongbi; from Xiapu county town, you can take a bus from the old Xiapu bus station or a car from the railway station, journey 30 minutes.

Reason: It is the best place in Xiapu for shooting sunset and twilight; the air is also good, suitable for residents to relax and take a walk.

Location: At the old Xiapu bus station (near Beimen Hotel, also called Beimen Station), take a shuttle bus to Sansha Town, departing every 15 minutes, passing by Xiaohao, journey 35 minutes; from Sansha Railway Station, take a car, passing by Xiaohao, journey 30 minutes.

Reason: Xiaohao Village has an observation deck built specifically for photography enthusiasts, offering a high vantage point to overlook the endless laver harvesting scenes; Xiaohao also has a unique feature: its tides form an S-shape, harmoniously echoing the beach textures and the small stream.

Location: Huazhu is 40km from Xiapu and 4.6km from Sansha Town, the farthest shooting point on the eastern line. There is no direct bus from Xiapu to Huazhu; you must first go to Sansha and then charter a car, taking 15 minutes from Sansha to Huazhu. You can take a shuttle bus to Sansha Town from the old Xiapu bus station (near Beimen Hotel, also called Beimen Station), departing every 15 minutes.

Reason: China's landmark for observing the sun, an excellent spot for shooting sunrise.

Note: Sunrise viewing at Huazhu is early, and it is cold and windy, so keep warm.

Location: Nantailao Scenic Area is located at Santiaofeng in Qingguansi Village, Sansha, facing the Fuding Taimu Mountain to the north. You can only take a car to Sansha and then charter a car.

Reason: Climbing to the summit of Nantailao to absorb the spiritual energy of the Buddha mountain gives a feeling of transcendence and immortality; looking far into the distance, the beautiful Yacheng S-bend, Dayu and Xiaoyu Islands, Ancient Port, and Fenghuo Island all come into view, as if in a natural landscape painting.

Location: From Xiapu county town, take a car or bus from the old Xiapu bus station to Sansha, then take a red tricycle to Xiaoguzhen Pier, then take a ferry to the Venice of the Sea.

Reason: The fishermen work diligently on the fish rafts, embodying the spirit of hard work and fearlessness of difficulties, reflecting the good character of the Chinese people. This place resembles a town floating on the sea, like a small sea community, with a magnificent and grand scene. Looking down from the Huazhu shooting point, these fish rafts appear as warm, serene, and vibrant pastoral pictures on the sea.
