Blue Bricks and Black Tiles, Ancient Charm Lingers: This Ancient Residence Offers You a Secluded and Tranquil Life
Chixi Village, Panxi Town, Fuding City—the first village in China to be lifted out of poverty—has undergone a beautiful transformation from an "old, minority, border, and poor" area over 30 years ago. It not only boasts picturesque rural scenery but also hides an ancient and quaint residence—the Dujiabao Ancient Residence. Over 400 years ago, members of the Du clan branched off from Du Family Black Tablet to Chixi Village and built Dujiabao, where the Du clan has lived ever since. Dujiabao is an ancient castle consisting of three parts: the main castle, the city walls (double walls), and the moat. The main castle faces south, with mountains on three sides and water on one side, enjoying excellent feng shui. The entire ancient castle covers an area of about 80 mu (approximately 13 acres), with a total building area of over 5,000 square meters. However, the castle has only two exits: a side gate and a main gate. From a high vantage point, the six existing residences are connected by a crisscrossing yet interlinked network of paths. For hundreds of years, they have stood firm, delicate and unique. Strolling through and savoring the details, you'll find that the entire castle has an exquisite layout with clear veins and structure. Each house features a large courtyard paved with stone slabs; on rainy days, raindrops patter down along the eaves, crisp and pleasant, adding a unique charm. Walking here, you'll see lush bamboo groves and verdant trees—especially cool on summer days. The blue bricks and black tiles, along with the stone paths, exude an ancient charm. With deep courtyards, choose a time to come here, feel the vicissitudes of history, and spend a few days in an enviable secluded and tranquil life.
