Enjoy Life, Enjoy Design (2) — Family Road Trip to the Photography Paradise: Xiapu

Xiapu—a photography paradise, Xiapu—the hometown of seaweed, Xiapu—the perfect choice for road trips, leisure, family fun, and seafood.

I've been here twice—once in summer with my child, and once in late autumn with my parents. Yet I've only glimpsed Xiapu's beauty through a veil. Whether it's a family trip, photography tour, or leisure getaway, each has its own charm waiting for us to slowly discover and appreciate. As we drive freely along the mountain roads hugging the coast, we naturally forget the city's hustle and bustle. Everything around us feels close, carefree, and comfortable.

First, here are a few overview photos:

This is actually a small hill protruding from the sea, shaped like a little steamed bun. Since it faces east, it's great for sunrise photos. At other times, you can't capture its essence. So it's recommended not to come here for photos when the weather is bad.

Rongfeng Park is an important attraction in Yangjiaxi. The park mainly consists of large maple forests and a very large ancient banyan tree cluster. The banyan trunk is hollow inside, with seven openings that connect to each other.

If you want to come here, it's recommended to arrive by 8:30 AM. After parking and buying tickets, you should be inside by about 8:40 to grab a good spot. 😁

Photography spots: 1. Ewan Mangrove Forest, 2. Nanwan Oracle Bone Script, 3. Weijiang Mantou Mountain, 4. Shajiang S-Bend, 5. Beiqi Tidal Flat, 6. Xiaohao, 7. Waya, 8. Rongfeng Park, 9. Huazhu Village (sunrise), 10. Dongbi (sunset).

Good weather: All the above spots are accessible;

Bad weather: Ewan Mangrove Forest, Nanwan Oracle Bone Script, and Shajiang S-Bend, because these places can still capture an ink-wash painting feel even on cloudy days.

The only place that actually charges an entrance fee is Rongfeng Park, about 20-30 yuan. Other places have no admission fee, but they may charge a parking fee or photography fee of 10-20 yuan.

We recommend the following three inns. The prices for good rooms are generally over 1000 yuan during summer or holidays.

1. Wangchaoxi Guesthouse — a guesthouse located halfway up the mountain near Dongbi Village. The saying 'the higher you stand, the farther you see' holds true here. It's a great place that offers both sunrise and sunset views.

2. Shijianhai Inn — the top dog in Dongbi Village. It's a guesthouse that combines architectural design, scenic views, family fun, and influencer check-in spots. There are many room types to choose from, from ordinary mountain-view and sea-view rooms to high-end pool villas, with various price ranges.

3. Houhai Inn — I haven't stayed there, but I took a look around (mentioned earlier). It feels quite chic and stylish, a light luxury inn. You can also enjoy the sunset, but it doesn't have the high vantage point and wide, unbeatable sunset view of Shijianhai Inn.

1. Xiapu is a must-visit for photography enthusiasts. A 3-7 day photography tour is recommended. It's best to come during typhoon season—the days after a typhoon offer scenery you can imagine even through the screen 😍🌈⭐🌊.

2. For couples on a leisure trip, 2-3 days are enough. Eat and drink your way around and check out famous spots like 'Shajiang S-Bend', 'Sansha Plank Road', and 'Dongbi Village'.

3. A family trip of about 3 days is also suitable. Find an inn with a pool in Dongbi Village. Then you can go to the beach, catch crabs in the crevices of rocks, and swim back at the inn—all wonderful activities.
