[Fujian] Go to the blessed land of mountains and seas, enjoy a healing slow life!
(1) Regional Description
When it comes to Fujian, people often first think of Xiamen, the Minnan dialect, or overseas Chinese... Perhaps they haven't truly understood this "land of blessings coming and going." Here lies China's uniquely stunning tidal flat scenery, countless ancient villages hidden in secrets, and ethereal islands, dreamlike "blue tears" that seem out of this world, Quanzhou where life and history intertwine... Chechejun has prepared two self-driving routes for you. If time permits, you can also combine them into a loop. This time, let's cover all of Fujian's beautiful scenery, customs, culture, and cuisine with laughter and joy along the way!
(2) Geographical Location
Fujian Province is located on the southeastern coast of China, adjacent to Zhejiang Province to the northeast, bordering Jiangxi Province to the northwest, connecting with Guangdong Province to the southwest, and facing Taiwan Province to the southeast. The province has a maximum width of about 480 kilometers from east to west and a maximum length of about 530 kilometers from north to south.
(3) Topographic Features
Fujian's terrain is mainly mountainous and hilly, with the overall topography being higher in the northwest and lower in the southeast, presenting a "leaning against mountains and facing the sea" pattern. The mountainous and hilly areas account for about 90% of the province's total area.
(4) Scenery Overview
Leaning against mountains and facing the sea is the typical landscape feature of Fujian. To the west are Wuyi Mountain, Taimu Mountain, and Daiyun Mountain, with towering peaks and interwoven waterways; to the east is a long, winding coastline, home to several of China's most beautiful islands, and historically the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road. Visitors can taste Dahongpao tea at Wuyi Mountain, learn about Hakka culture at the Tulou, experience a fresh and chic vibe in Xiamen, and feel the charm of intangible cultural heritage in Quanzhou...
(5) Culture and Customs
Fujian's numerous ethnic groups have preserved their unique ethnic cultures and folk customs. The Min culture incorporates remnants of ancient Yue culture, blends with Taiwanese culture, is permeated by Hakka culture, influenced by overseas cultures, and impacted by Mazu culture. These cultures represent Fujian's charm yet stand independently, forming unique regional cultures. In terms of dialects, mainstream ones include Minnan, Mindong, Puxian, Minbei, Minzhong, and Hakka, totaling eight languages.
(1) Pre-trip Preparation
1. Rental Car Documents: Original ID card of the driver, original driver's license, or electronic driver's license issued by the "Traffic Management 12123" app.
2. Essential Items: Sunscreen, sun hats, and other sun protection items; Fujian has hot and rainy summers, mild and humid winters, so it is recommended to bring extra changes of clothes and rain gear like raincoats and umbrellas; swimsuits, swim rings, and other swimming gear.
(2) Self-driving Tips
1. Vehicle Selection: Fujian's terrain is mainly mountainous and hilly, with a well-developed road system, so basically any vehicle is suitable. If you prefer driving up mountains for sightseeing, it is recommended to rent an SUV or off-road vehicle with ample power and good performance.
2. Driving Tips: Roads in the urban areas of Fuzhou, Quanzhou, and Zhangzhou are relatively narrow, and traffic jams are common during rush hours, so it is advised to avoid peak times.
3. Season Selection: Suitable for travel year-round, with the best times being spring and autumn, followed by winter and summer.
4. Rental Tips: When renting a car, pay attention to whether the supplier supports free pickup and drop-off at different locations, as some suppliers may charge a fee for cross-location service.
