Impression 11 — My Past Trip to Hong Kong and Macau

Hong Kong and Macau, namely China's Hong Kong and Macau. On July 1, 1997, the Chinese government resumed the exercise of sovereignty over Hong Kong. On December 20, 1999, the Chinese government resumed the exercise of sovereignty over Macau. Hong Kong and Macau are parts of our motherland.

Hong Kong is a renowned international financial center, a major aviation hub in the Asia-Pacific region, and a famous tourist destination. I visited multiple times before and after the handovers. One Spring Festival, I flew from Shanghai with my family specifically to celebrate the Lunar New Year in Hong Kong and Macau.

Victoria Harbour is one of the world's three natural deep-water harbors.

Due to its wide and deep waters, Hong Kong is known as the 'Pearl of the Orient' and boasts one of the 'Three Best Nightscapes in the World.'

Hong Kong has a tradition of setting off fireworks in Victoria Harbour on the second day of the Lunar New Year. We happened to be there, and by the harbor, there were huge crowds and fireworks bursting in the sky.

We took a boat from Hong Kong to Macau.

The Ruins of St. Paul's, officially known as the Ruins of the Church of St. Paul, commonly referred to as Three Banners Arch or the Ruins of St. Paul's, is the front facade of the Church of the Mother of God in Macau (St. Paul's Church, completed in 1580).

The Ruins of St. Paul's is one of Macau's iconic landmarks and one of the 'Eight Scenic Spots of Macau.' In 2005, along with other heritage sites of the Historic Centre of Macau, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Now it is very convenient to visit Hong Kong and Macau by plane, car, train, and so on. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is a new highlight.
