To Reduce the Number of Shots for My Child, I Chose the Hexavalent Vaccine at Hong Kong's Ansheng Clinic
Every expectant mother, after her baby is born, is faced with a dizzying array of vaccines. Regarding the hexavalent vaccine, apart from concerns about the safety of vaccines on the mainland, simply to reduce the number of shots for the child by eight, if conditions allow, I believe most people would choose to get the hexavalent vaccine in Hong Kong.
The hexavalent vaccine prevents diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio, Haemophilus influenzae type b, and hepatitis B. It requires only four doses, administered at 2, 4, 6, and 15 months of age.
As far as I know, the hexavalent vaccine is not available on the mainland. If you follow the single-vaccine schedule, a child would need 12 shots... And my baby always has some adverse reactions after each vaccination.
After reading a lot of information online, I finally decided to go to Ansheng Clinic in Hong Kong for the vaccination. First, the location is good—it's in Sheung Shui, and it's not convenient to travel far with the baby. Second, the clinic has been around for a long time and has a good reputation.
I made an appointment, brought the baby's vaccination record, and went to Hong Kong with the baby's father. We live in Shenzhen, so it's very convenient to go to Hong Kong. After crossing the border at Futian Port, we took the high-speed train, just one stop to Sheung Shui. From Exit A4, following the signs, we found Landmark North, and it took only a 5-minute walk to get there.
We arrived late, and the clinic was already full of people—some pregnant women having check-ups, some babies getting vaccinated, and some young ladies getting the 9-valent HPV vaccine. We waited about ten minutes before it was our turn.
A nurse used a toy to distract the baby. The doctor was very quick with the injection—it was done in an instant. Maybe because the baby is so young and doesn't feel pain, he didn't cry, haha.
After the shot, we had to stay for half an hour for observation. Finally, we had a simple lunch at the mall, bought four cans of formula milk and some baby products, and then returned to Shenzhen. By the way, formula milk in Hong Kong is quite cheap, but you can only bring two cans per person through the border.
