I believe you all remember that earlier we introduced the first Art Karnival we held at K11 MUSEA, bringing a series of wonderful art exhibitions, guided tours, and workshops, introducing high taste into K11 MUSEA, this cultural silicon valley, bringing a new cultural experience combining art, gastronomy, and design.

We are delighted to share with you that one of the highlights of Art Karnival – the 8.5-meter-tall giant art installation "Rose II" created by renowned contemporary German female artist Isa Genzken – has finally arrived in Asia for the first time, debuting at K11 MUSEA on Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront. If you have recently passed by Victoria Harbour, you surely cannot miss this giant rose standing by the harbor. This work was first exhibited to the public in 2010 at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York. Made of steel, aluminum, and paint, the rose installation has an unimaginable scale, complementing the city skyline. Amid Hong Kong's towering skyscrapers, it brings a surreal playfulness.

Rose II, created by Isa Genzken, debuts in Asia for the first time.

Genzken was born in 1948. Over more than 45 years of creative journey, she has continuously used different materials to explore sculptural techniques and forms of display. In November 2013, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) held her first major retrospective 'Isa Genzken: Retrospective'. She used found objects and collage to create a new artistic language, inspiring the next generation of artists with continuous surprises. German photographer Wolfgang Tillmans pointed out that Genzken's work always leads others, at the forefront of the times, inspiring those who come after.

Genzken's creations are mainly outdoor sculptures, reflecting on the connection between modern architecture and urban spaces. In 2007, she represented Germany at the 52nd Venice Biennale, and she has held major solo exhibitions at the Bern Kunsthalle (2019), the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (2015), MoMA (2013), and the New Museum in New York (2010). Her works are also in the collections of the Kunstmuseum Den Haag, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, among others. As a highlight of the first Art Karnival held at K11 MUSEA, 'Rose II', with its unimaginable scale, exaggerated proportions, and non-natural materials, perfectly merges with the city's towering architecture.

Humorous Interactive Art Installation 'Rose's Allure'

Attentive viewers may have noticed that there is also a humorous interactive art installation 'Rose's Allure' nearby, where you can pick rose flowers from a nose sculpture inspired by ancient Greek artifacts. This interactive experience fully reflects a strong contrast between reality and perception, both humorous and creative, reflecting our long-standing vision of integrating art into the community in innovative ways.

Here we would like to invite everyone to come to K11 MUSEA and join the guided tours specially set up for Art Karnival, to experience the surprise of creative inspiration together.
