A Real Student's Guide to Transiting Through Hong Kong on the Way Back to China

The route of returning to China via Hong Kong from abroad has become increasingly popular. With policies constantly updating, the quarantine period upon entering Hong Kong has now been shortened to 3+4. Mainland travelers arriving in Hong Kong only need to quarantine for 3 days, after which they have three options to leave Hong Kong.

1. Direct flight from Hong Kong to Mainland China. Most cities have now resumed direct flights. This route is recommended for saving time, but the downside is that flight seats are currently limited.

2. Take the Shenzhen Bay quota to Shenzhen for quarantine. The quota requires a lottery application.

3. Take the Golden Bus to Zhuhai. The quota also requires a lottery.

Recently, I have received materials shared by some enthusiastic friends. Some of them transited through Hong Kong from countries such as Russia, the UK, Turkey, Australia, and the USA. After successfully returning to Mainland China, one student friend voluntarily shared the entire journey. Below is the process shared by a student friend returning from New York. Special thanks to Michael for sharing.

Prepare all necessary documents for entering Hong Kong in advance.

17 hours later, landed in Hong Kong.

Upon arrival, a test must be taken first.

With hotel confirmation, take a shuttle bus directly to the quarantine hotel for closed-loop transfer.

Arrive at the hotel and start quarantine. This friend returned in late July, when a 7-day quarantine was still required.

The quarantine hotel includes three meals.

Self-testing is required every day.

Take another test upon arriving at Shenzhen Bay.

A warm welcome home.

After passing the test, transfer to a quarantine site in Dongguan.

Overall, the process is quite cumbersome, mainly due to organizing documents and checking routes. However, there are now agencies that offer full-service return processes, which save time and effort. If you don't have time to organize materials or research routes, consider seeking help from an agency. One recommended agency is Shouren Cross-Border (守仁跨境). According to reports, they were one of the earliest agencies in this field, with considerable experience and a public company background, making them quite reliable. Those in need can search for "Shouren Cross-Border" official website for more information.

Finally, I wish all our compatriots overseas a safe return to the motherland.
