Imperial Court Hong Kong Story Series: Butterfly Cookies, Egg Rolls, Crispy Sticks Gift Box
As Hong Kong reopens borders, Imperial Court's Michelin-starred team, together with two pastry masters — Master Ye Yonghua and Master Li Yongguan — have launched the new 2023 Hong Kong Story Series. With gift boxes that evoke nostalgic feelings, they contain innovative combinations of pastries in different flavors, such as butterfly cookies, egg rolls, and crispy sticks. Whether as souvenirs for a trip to Hong Kong or as gifts carrying authentic Hong Kong flavors when visiting relatives in Mainland China or abroad, they are an excellent choice.
The design of the Imperial Court Hong Kong Story Series features a range of familiar Hong Kong characteristics, including the top 10 most popular iconic buildings and cultural features among travelers: Victoria Harbour sailboats, double-decker buses, tram 'Ding Ding', nostalgic signs, ice cream trucks, etc., paired with famous Hong Kong landmarks such as the Big Buddha and the Convention and Exhibition Centre. In addition, the boxes can be connected in a line to form a 'panoramic view' full of Hong Kong's nostalgic sentiments.
Hong Kong Story Series — Gold Selection Gift Box (Butterfly Cookies – Original, Hazelnut; Egg Rolls – Original, Earl Grey)
Original Butterfly Cookies — Made with carefully selected premium French butter and a pastry dough created by repeatedly folding and rolling water dough (dough) and oil dough (butter) hundreds of times. Through precise multi-stage baking, the result is fragrant, buttery, and crisp original butterfly cookies.
Earl Grey Butterfly Cookies — Using two different sizes of premium Earl Grey tea leaves, after multiple infusions and grinding, the essence of Earl Grey is extracted and incorporated into the pastry. A thin layer of tea leaf crumbs is added on the surface, making the texture and Earl Grey flavor more prominent. The refreshing tea aroma of Earl Grey perfectly complements the rich butter pastry, creating a light and refreshing taste.
Hazelnut Butterfly Cookies — Using hazelnuts of different sizes and treatments, after repeated trials, the best combination among countless variations of butterfly cookies was selected to perfect the texture and flavor of the hazelnut butterfly cookies. Hazelnuts are rich in unsaturated fats and vitamins, and also benefit skin, hair, and eyesight.
Coconut Butterfly Cookies — Using fresh coconuts, the flesh is scraped and made into coconut shreds, then added to the butterfly cookie pastry for baking. The natural sweetness of coconut complements the buttery sweetness, resulting in a light and natural sweetness with a coconut fragrance in every bite.
Honeycomb Egg Rolls require higher technical skill. Unlike traditional egg rolls, Imperial Court uses traditional methods, meticulously researching dozens of complex procedures. The recipe was adjusted over 50 times, insisting on no artificial colors or chemical additives, giving the egg rolls a honeycomb effect with a crisper texture and rich layers. Using selected French natural butter, fresh eggs, and other fresh natural ingredients, they produce a variety of flavorful egg rolls.
Original Egg Rolls — Made using traditional methods, the original honeycomb egg rolls have a crisp texture, rich layers, and a strong egg aroma.
Earl Grey Egg Rolls — Using British tea leaves, they are simmered using a double-boiler method for over 5 hours. The extracted tea essence is incorporated into the egg rolls, leaving a full mouth of tea fragrance.
Almond Crispy Sticks — With the artisan skill of Michelin-starred pastry master and Master Li Yongguan, using natural butter and a unique method, they repeatedly fold to create hundreds of layers of pastry. Then, whole ground premium almonds are added. Within the layered pastry, the rich butter aroma blends with the unique almond fragrance, resulting in a light, crisp, and distinctively layered texture.
Hazelnut Crispy Sticks — Ground fresh, plump hazelnuts are incorporated into the buttery layers of pastry, then baked at low temperature. The thickness of the sticks is precisely controlled to create hazelnut crispy sticks that exude the unique hazelnut flavor.
