Travel to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area: Experience the Charm of Big Cities by Day and Watch Stunning Light Shows by Night
In people's minds, Hong Kong is often endowed with a mysterious and captivating charm. This Pearl of the Orient, blending the essence of Chinese and Western cultures, presents a unique character.
Whether you're setting foot on this land for the first time or have visited many times before, Hong Kong always offers an indescribable allure. Perhaps it's this magical appeal that makes people yearn to return to Hong Kong's shores after some time, to explore its unique world.
On previous trips to Hong Kong, I had always traveled by land—taking a bus or high-speed rail. But this time, I prepared to take a ferry from Zhuhai Jiuzhou Passenger Port to China Hong Kong City Ferry Terminal!
Zhuhai Jiuzhou Passenger Port offers a Hong Kong round-trip combo ticket: go by ferry and return by bus, or vice versa. I chose the ferry-to-bus option: take the ferry to China Hong Kong City Ferry Terminal, and on the return, take the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge shuttle bus back to Zhuhai!
In the morning, I arrived at the Jiuzhou Passenger Port terminal. There weren't many people, and everyone was handling formalities or waiting in an orderly manner. The signs were very clear, and there was even a dedicated nursing room—very user-friendly. After buying the ticket, I smoothly cleared customs and boarded the ferry following the instructions.
The cabin was spacious and bright. I chose a window seat so I could enjoy the scenery along the entire route.
The ferry slowly set sail, and the buildings of the port gradually receded, replaced by the boundless sea. Through the window, I saw the charming views of downtown Zhuhai—tall buildings stood magnificently under the morning glow.
I looked at the blue sea, where a few seabirds occasionally soared. My heart felt wide open!
Then, I saw the grand silhouette of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. That world's longest sea-crossing bridge, connecting Zhuhai, Macao, and Hong Kong, unfolded gracefully over the sea, like a giant dragon soaring between the blue sky and sea.
Finally, the ferry gradually approached Hong Kong's waters. The outline of Hong Kong Island became clearer. The skyscrapers and the view of Victoria Harbour were enchanting. The ferry slowly entered China Hong Kong City Ferry Terminal. Passengers stood up, ready to disembark.
I stepped off the ship, my heart thrilled, and began my exciting adventure in Hong Kong.
Familiar Hong Kong, I'm back again! I love strolling along the bustling streets of Tsim Sha Tsui.
Walking along Tsim Sha Tsui streets during the day is an experience full of vitality and diversity. You'll feel the flow of people from all directions: busy businesspeople hurrying by, tourists leisurely shopping, and locals weaving through the alleys.
In this bustling shopping district, you'll see various trendy shops with dazzling displays in the windows, attracting passersby to stop and look. At the same time, you'll also discover some old buildings and traditional markets, giving you a sense of Tsim Sha Tsui's deep history and culture.
When in Hong Kong, you must not miss the view of Victoria Harbour! Coming to the Hung Hom Promenade and looking across at Victoria Harbour is a mesmerizing sight.
Victoria Harbour is wide and deep, with sparkling water shimmering like a gem under the sun. On both sides of the harbor are the skyscrapers of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon Peninsula, densely packed, with towering skyscrapers rising into the clouds, fully showcasing Hong Kong's prosperity and bustle as a modern metropolis.
In the sunlight, the surface of Victoria Harbour glistens, with small boats occasionally crossing, creating a serene yet lively scene. In the distance, the hills of Hong Kong Island and the tall buildings complement each other, forming a magnificent skyline.
Near the piers, you can often see various types of vessels docked in the harbor, from large cruise ships to small fishing boats, adding life and vitality to the harbor.
You must visit the Avenue of Stars, a special attraction to honor outstanding figures in the Hong Kong film industry!
Find your favorite actor and take a photo with a handprint—it feels like a cross-time connection!
On the return trip, I chose to go to the Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and take the shuttle bus back to Zhuhai!
This was my first time experiencing the joy of driving on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. The road was smooth all the way, and the views along the route were too numerous to take in. There was a section of undersea tunnel—truly amazing engineering.
Being able to drive on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and experience its grandeur up close was such a delight. It made me marvel at the wonder of human wisdom and technology.
Back in Zhuhai that evening, I went to see the world's first sea-based live light and shadow show—'Jiuzhou Story: Meet the Sea.'
Also at Jiuzhou Passenger Port, we departed on a luxury cruise. The ship was very comfortable and spacious, perfect for taking photos. The key was that the cruise was very stable at sea—no seasickness at all!
I could comfortably admire the night view of Zhuhai from the sea, especially the Zhuhai Grand Theatre seen from the water—it was truly beautiful!
Arriving at the designated viewing area, the light and shadow show was about to begin!
Beside the bridge, on the boundless sea, with the blue ocean as the stage, the much-anticipated sea-based live light and shadow show started!
This is a story set in the bay area of Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macao, about love and friendship on the Maritime Silk Road. It recreates the turbulent history of maritime trade and extols the virtue of keeping one's word!
Every detail of the grand show was captivating—far more impressive than watching an IMAX in a cinema! The seawater seemed to 'ignite,' the sea surface appeared to boil, then ice springs sprayed and underwater mines rumbled—it was spectacular!
It was truly a masterpiece integrating ships, multimedia, stage technology, visual effects, and contemporary arts like theater, film, and dance!
On the way back after the wonderful show, there were also magic performances and saxophone music on the ship. The atmosphere was so joyful!
Such an amazing travel experience was truly unforgettable! I also recommend this itinerary to friends planning to visit the Greater Bay Area!
