Hong Kong New Year Flower Markets

Locations: 15 venues including Victoria Park and Tsuen Wan Sha Tsui Road Playground
Visiting the New Year flower market is a must-do for Hong Kongers during the Lunar New Year. Starting February 4, the Hong Kong New Year markets will open, selling festive food, spring couplets, New Year pictures, festive supplies, and special decorations. A stroll around is enough to feel the strong New Year atmosphere. This year, there are 15 flower market locations across Hong Kong, with over 300 stalls—eating and shopping together makes it even more fun!
Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Parade Night and Float Parade
Time: 8:00–9:45 PM, February 10, 2024
Location: Tsim Sha Tsui area, Kowloon
The annual 'Float Parade' is one of Hong Kong's most high-profile mega events. A procession of floats winds through the Tsim Sha Tsui area, accompanied by performances from local and international troupes, presenting stunning acrobatics and traditional dances. Starting from the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza in Tsim Sha Tsui, it proceeds along Canton Road to Nathan Road, ending at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel, sharing the festive mood of welcoming the New Year with residents and tourists.
Lunar New Year Fireworks Display
Time: 8:00–8:20 PM, February 11, 2024
Location: Victoria Harbour
A lively New Year is incomplete without dazzling fireworks. After a five-year hiatus, the 2024 Lunar New Year fireworks display will once again grace Victoria Harbour on the second day of the Lunar New Year! For those who missed the New Year's Eve fireworks, don't miss this opportunity. The fireworks will bloom over Victoria Harbour, allowing you to enjoy this romantic moment with your family or friends.
When shopping during the New Year, eating and buying are essential. For special and innovative souvenirs in Hong Kong, I recommend the local Hong Kong brand 'Hong Kong Royal Imperial', endorsed by Mr. Louis Koo. Not only do they offer seasonal New Year gift boxes featuring classics like butterfly pastries, cookies, and golden crispy sticks, but they also have the newly launched Dragon Year Classic Selection Gift Box, with packaging featuring dragon motifs that align with the New Year spirit. The products are original-flavor butterfly pastries and egg rolls—classics that never go out of style. They make excellent choices for personal consumption or as gifts for family and friends!
Year of the Dragon Lantern Festival
Time: February 2–25, 2024
Location: Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza (and other locations across Hong Kong, Kowloon, and the New Territories)
To celebrate the festival, Hong Kong holds Lantern Festival events in various districts every year. The garden is filled with lanterns as bright as day, and amidst the lights, young ladies in traditional Hanfu come to take photos, making it feel like a trip back to ancient times. There are large-scale lantern exhibitions, ethnic dances, and traditional stage performances. Visitors can admire the lanterns, enjoy the scenery, guess lantern riddles, and soak in the traditional festive atmosphere!
Time: February 10–25, 2024
Location: Lam Tsuen Wishing Square, Tai Po
Hong Kong's Wishing Festival is held at Lam Tsuen in Tai Po, New Territories. Every year during the Lunar New Year, many tourists visit to join in the lively celebrations. Lam Tsuen is home to two wishing trees: the first is for wishes related to career, studies, family, wealth, and health, while the smaller banyan tree is for wishes regarding children and romance. You can throw a wishing plaque (bao die) in front of the trees or light lotus lanterns to make your wishes, fully experiencing the vibrant atmosphere of the Lunar New Year.
