Special Forces College Student Bravely Charges into Hong Kong (Ultra-Detailed Guide)
First time in Hong Kong, sharing my real feelings and tips to avoid pitfalls.
1 Tsim Sha Tsui: The Clock Tower, Avenue of Stars, Hong Kong Museum of Art, Harbour City, and K11 MUSEA are all worth visiting! Great for photos.
2 Central: A neighborhood that showcases various facets of Hong Kong. Be sure to ride the Central Ferris Wheel for a high-altitude view of Victoria Harbour!
3 Sai Ying Pun: The terrain here is undulating, very reminiscent of the mountain city of Chongqing. Perfect for a Citywalk, taking photos as you go.
4 Kennedy Town: Come here in the evening to catch the seaside sunset and check out %Arabica coffee shop. The café faces the sea, and the sea breeze creates a great atmosphere.
5 Victoria Peak: Take the 7-8 minute cable car to the top for a panoramic view of Hong Kong's harbor.
6 Victoria Harbour: A must-visit attraction in Hong Kong! The night view is truly stunning!
1 Yau Ma Tei: Various street scenes make for great photos!
2 Mong Kok: Shopping (Ladies' Market, Goldfish Market, Sai Yeung Choi Street, Sneaker Street), Malls (Langham Place, Grand Century Place, Mong Kok Centre), Food (Stone Pot Hall, Two Grass, Thirteen Aunties, Chicken Wing Mountain, Han Le).
3 Causeway Bay: More luxury brands, trendy shops, and skincare stores.
4 Monster Building: Visit the filming location of Transformers 4; using wide-angle mode yields fantastic photos!
Preparation:
Mainland-Travel Permit: Make an appointment at the nearest police station through the "Immigration Bureau" app. Must be done in advance!
Internet: I bought a data package from Huawei Skyroam; no need to change SIM cards or activate roaming. The holiday special cost me only 4.9 RMB/day. The experience was fast and stable, great value. You can also buy it next time you go to Hong Kong; it can be purchased even without network.
Small amount of Hong Kong dollars: Exchange some in advance for use at local snack shops or taxis, but don't exchange too much.
Plug adapter: Since Hong Kong outlets differ from mainland China, be sure to buy a plug adapter in advance if staying at a hotel!
Other: Power bank, umbrella, comfortable shoes.
Transportation: First arrive at Shenzhen North Station, then take a 20-minute high-speed train directly to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station.
Within Hong Kong, you can use MTR, city buses, taxis, or walk.
Key point‼️ As a directionally challenged person, I used Petal Maps for walking navigation. It saved me time and effort.
Book hotels in advance, collect coupons, and compare prices! I chose a hotel near Tsim Sha Tsui, convenient transportation, many nearby food and attractions, and close to the high-speed rail station!
Food: Pineapple bun, egg waffles, cart noodle, Hong Kong-style milk tea, wonton noodles, doggie noodles, Kau Kee Beef Brisket, Sister Fatty's Snacks.
Don't buy from small roadside pharmacies; they are expensive and not authentic. Bring your own or buy from legitimate pharmacies like Long Feng.
Not recommended to visit Temple Street; it's too crowded and the environment is poor.
Hong Kong is expensive; even a bottle of water costs over 10 RMB. Bring your own water bottle.
Be prepared to queue before coming to Hong Kong; you'll need to line up for food, photos, etc.
Eating and drinking are not allowed on the MTR and buses, and smoking in public places is prohibited. Violations result in fines.
Always carry your Mainland-Travel Permit with you‼️
