Global Walk [12] the Walk of the World Season 1 Episode 3 Los Angeles
After comparison, I still don't really like Los Angeles.
A city that is neither modern nor classical, spread out like a giant pancake along the coast of Southern California;
Whether it's Beverly Hills or Santa Monica Beach;
Whether it's Universal Studios or the world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame;
Even the iconic palm trees and the distant mountain HOLLYWOOD sign feel like temporary props or illegal structures in this city, as if they could be moved away at any moment.
No skyscrapers, no impressive architecture worth worshiping, no planning—nearly haphazardly built houses are everywhere in downtown. Too much unreality, leaving only the empty, dreamlike Hollywood dream.
Even the world-famous Sunset Boulevard, the dream avenue, has long been called 'Dream Shattered Boulevard' by fans.
So much unreality—perhaps this is the most real dream.
After ending this lifetime's emotions in the Netherlands, J brought his soul to Los Angeles, prepared for a long time and decided to settle his soul in Los Angeles. Now thinking back, how unrealistic that was. Even though the soul is ethereal, to place it in a cloud-dream city—how unreliable a thing that is.
That night, on Rodeo Drive, it was drizzling vaguely. The already quiet high-end avenue became even more silent at night.
The dialogue with the soul unfolded on this most expensive street in the world...
'That day, I emptied the cup of my soul and held it in both hands before you.
You casually pushed my cup off the table.
I thought I could stay and meet my soul in Los Angeles,
But I didn't know my soul had already been betrayed.
Misunderstood by my own soul—at that moment, the unspeakable sorrow was deep,
Yet it did not break my determined gaze.'
A cold during the flight to Los Angeles, coupled with Los Angeles' changeable May weather and the betrayal of his soul,
Made J's Los Angeles trip as unpredictable as the weather—sunny and rainy by turns.
The feeling of being betrayed by his soul in misunderstanding was fresh and a little surprising to J, but not extraordinary.
My own soul has also warned me many times against lies with any excuse, but I, presumptuous as a human, have repeatedly ignored my soul's admonitions.
That night, facing the Santa Monica seaside, J just wanted to shout loudly: 'Please forgive my soul that has nowhere to rest.'
In our lives, we make many wrong decisions. Some can be undone, some cannot. Those that cannot, we might as well call regrets. But fortunately, they teach us to grow, and that is not a loss. No one can foresee the rights and wrongs on the path of growth. When we get what we want, we commemorate; when we don't, we mourn. In fact, life is lived anyway—it's just that each person chooses a different path.
Actually, you don't need to think the soul is so great and sacred. Everyone has one. People with seemingly noble bodies may not have clean and tidy souls; people with seemingly ugly and dirty bodies may not have impure and opaque souls.
In Los Angeles, the only moment J felt pleasure was that night on Santa Monica Beach, the easternmost part of Los Angeles, looking out at the eastern coast of his homeland. The Pacific Ocean connects both sides. The rolling waves were beautiful scenery by day, but at night they became an unfathomable, boundless terror. Shouts to the soul were drowned out by the roar of the waves, and the voice of venting exhaustion was soothed by the calm sea.
If the soul has to rely on hearsay to interpret the sins of the world,
Then hasn't heaven already been tainted by the haze of confusion?
Everyone has various reverence for the soul. But one day, when a soul you once thought was supreme, noble, honorable, and inviolable reveals itself ugly and selfishly naked before your soul—what expression will you have?
In short, on that night in Los Angeles, on a rainy night, at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard, J was alone on the empty street, awakened by a soul.
At that moment, J realized that he was truly alive and existing.
Being alive and existing are confirmed in two ways:
1. Experiencing the sorrows and joys of others; 2. Feeling your own sorrows and joys.
In fact, living with soul and thought is true living. The body will one day turn to ashes.
Face your own soul, feel the pure true self of your own soul, train it, touch it, feel it, cherish it—the pleasure brought by that climax can last a long, long time.
If you haven't yet thought about the death and departure of your own body, start now. Seriously think about it. Sit quietly, gently close your eyes, let the eyes of your soul observe your face at this moment, enlarge the pupils of your heart to face your soul directly, looking at each other.
Don't worry too much about tomorrow; focus more on the present moment.
Because, in life,
There is only one most important moment—now.
There is only one most important person—the one before you.
And only one most important thing—to make the people around you happy.
I don't know if you often feel like finding someone to talk to.
That night by the sea, J seemed to feel his soul following him like a shadow. At that moment, he really wanted to talk to someone, even though the last bus to downtown was about to arrive, people back home were about to have lunch, and J, in the quiet deep night, was not conveniently disturbing those enjoying their bustling lunch in the homeland.
It seemed like he saw his soul staring wide-eyed, waiting for a decision. J's final decision was to quickly catch the last subway to downtown, go back, wash up, and sleep. The soul is not a 24-hour convenience store.
Every time J returns to China, to Beijing, he likes to invite friends for small gatherings, chat, have drinks—pure conversation and exchange of information. This has almost become a habit over the years. (However, sometimes there are exceptions. Some people always ask, 'What's the matter?' Actually, there's nothing; he just feels that friends should get together occasionally to keep in touch.)
J also likes to buy gifts for friends. Sometimes he doesn't even know who he is buying them for at the time, but if he sees something he likes, he buys it, thinking he might give it to someone if there's an opportunity. Those who didn't get coffee or receive gifts this round will have to wait for the next. Don't worry.
