Travel Back in Time to Fulfill Your Gold Rush Dream: A Practical Guide to Sovereign Hill, Melbourne!
The old days are a story. When people recall these stories, they always wish to recreate the past. The Sovereign Hill Gold Mine in Victoria, Australia is a dramatic stage that recreates the past, telling the tale of the gold rush during the Industrial Revolution.
It can be said that Sovereign Hill made Melbourne what it is today—Australia's second-largest city.
Back then, Melbourne was just a small fishing village, while Sydney had left all other cities far behind. It wasn't until gold was discovered here that the 19th-century gold rush began. Countless people passionate about gold flocked to the area, and Melbourne's development skyrocketed, briefly surpassing Sydney as the largest city. Though it didn't last, the gold mine left an indelible mark on this period of history.
Sovereign Hill Gold Mine has preserved the original appearance of that era, showing us the customs and architectural styles of the time, especially the small industrial workshops, whose equipment can still operate today.

You can dress in 19th-century clothing, experience gold panning firsthand, visit the Gold Museum, and explore the Red Hill Gold Mine, where the world's second-largest gold nugget was discovered.
Sovereign Hill has an excellent Gold Museum, housing an impressive collection of nuggets, artworks, and coins. When you see the largest gold nugget on display in the Southern Hemisphere, you'll be amazed by the beauty and power of gold.
Watch a 10-minute gold mine promotional video, enjoy an exciting gold pouring demonstration, embark on an underground mine tour, visit the Red Hill Gold Mine where the world's second-largest gold nugget was found, watch the Redcoat Guards parade, and try your hand at gold panning. Creswick Woollen Mills
Creswick Woollen Mills is the last remaining colored wool textile mill in Australian history. It has the world's longest picnic blanket and provides special fireproof blankets for the Australian Fire Service. You can also feed the adorable alpacas and take photos with them.
In the monotonous life of gold mining, workers not only made their own candy to improve their lives but also made candles self-sufficiently. While exploring the gold mine town, you can also try making candles yourself!
