The Skyscraper Museum: A Unique New York Attraction
Towering skyscrapers are destined to become city landmarks from the moment they are built. The Empire State Building in New York, Taipei 101, Shanghai World Financial Center, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, and many more high-rise buildings each have their own unique features. To witness the grandeur of these giants and learn about the history and art behind their construction, the New York Pass recommends a unique New York attraction—The Skyscraper Museum.
Located in Lower Manhattan, New York, The Skyscraper Museum was founded in 1996. It is the only museum in the world dedicated to skyscrapers, focusing on the past, present, and future of high-rise buildings. Through exhibitions, programs, and publications, the museum explores high-rise buildings as design objects, technological achievements, construction sites, real estate investments, and places to work and live.
As a gem of New York architectural design, the museum’s floor and ceiling are polished with stainless steel mirrors, creating a sense of infinite vertical extension, making the buildings displayed in glass cases appear to soar straight into the clouds.
