Opened in 1997, the six-sided building of the Museum of Jewish Heritage symbolizes the six points of the Star of David (an internationally recognized symbol of the Jewish people) and the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust. It houses a collection of over 40,000 artifacts, photographs, documentary films, and survivor testimonies spanning from the 1880s to the present.

The museum's core exhibition includes more than 800 artifacts and over 2,000 photographs, placing the Holocaust within the broader context of modern Jewish history and telling the story of Jewish life in the 20th and 21st centuries from a personal perspective. The three chronological sections — Jewish Life a Century Ago, The War Against the Jews, and Jewish Renewal — together present Jewish history, highlighting the experiences of individuals of global significance.

As a place of memory, the museum brings brutal history back to life before visitors through approximately 3,800 audio and video testimonies provided by Holocaust survivors, liberators, rescuers, Jews who served in the Allied forces during World War II, and many others. Along with its rich collection, it allows people to confront and remember those lost years.
