One-Day New York Itinerary: Exploring the City's Past and Present from Different Perspectives
With its dazzling fashion and perfectly integrated cultural heritage, New York is a dream destination for countless travelers. The New York Pass recommends a distinctive one-day itinerary that allows you to admire the city's magnificent scenery from different perspectives—museums, high altitudes, and water—bringing you closer to the city's past and present.
American Museum of Natural History
As one of the largest and most innovative natural history museums in the world, the American Museum of Natural History has appeared in numerous well-known films and TV shows, such as The Devil Wears Prada, K-PAX, and Night at the Museum, making it an unmissable highlight of a one-day New York tour.
The museum consists of 28 interconnected buildings, housing 45 permanent exhibition halls, a planetarium, and a library across four floors. Its millions of artifacts span a wide range, from a 94-foot blue whale and a Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton to various animal specimens, fossils, and anthropological objects, continuously inspiring generations of visitors' thirst for knowledge since 1869.
During your visit, be sure to check out the 122-foot-long Titanosaur fossil. This herbivore is said to have weighed 70 tons in life, and its imposing figure can be seen from any exhibition hall in the museum.
The blue whale is the largest animal on Earth. The museum's blue whale model is 94 feet long, suspended from the ceiling by steel pipes, making you feel as if you've entered the deep ocean when you step into the hall.
The Ahnighito meteorite, separated from the 200-ton Cape York meteorite, weighs 34 tons alone—the largest meteorite on display in any museum in the world.
