Must-visit for National Day! The fairy tale town hidden in Chacheng, even the sky comes with a Miyazaki filter!
This trip to Heyuan Bavaria Manor was actually a coincidence. But just this one encounter left me unforgettable, so much that even after leaving that dreamlike place, I can still clearly recall the excitement of first seeing it.
For this journey, we were quite greedy, wanting both to feast our eyes on unparalleled natural scenery and to enjoy a lazy, comfortable slow life. With this in mind, our gaze involuntarily turned to Heyuan Bavaria Manor, as if everything we wanted was here.
2 days, 48 hours, a trip snatched from our busy schedule, a brief pause in a long workday. No need for complicated preparations, just a moment of heart-throbbing inspiration, in the lines of the poem 'Picking chrysanthemums under the eastern fence, leisurely I see the southern mountains,' we glimpsed a unique and beautiful scene at Heyuan Bavaria Manor.
Driving from Guangzhou for 2 hours, passing through Conghua, passing through Huizhou, we finally arrived at Gaopugang Tourism Town. The mysterious veil of the destination, Bavaria Manor, was gradually lifted as we drew closer - a castle that seemed to have stepped out of a Disney animation suddenly appeared before our eyes.
Every minute at Heyuan Bavaria Manor felt like a gift from nature to my life. This is probably the most 'low-key' paradise I have ever seen, the closest to the city.
Inheriting the simple ancient charm of this Hakka city, it also fully displays a unique European style. Wanlv Lake and the mountains surround it, hidden in a lush green expanse, creating a unique world. I never thought that by just calming down and slowing down, I could see the hidden beauty here.
Entering the manor, the first thing that catches your eye is the Bavaria Bridge. The bridge body is red, creating a color contrast with the surrounding vigorous greenery. With a casual snap, it becomes a masterpiece, one of the must-visit spots for social media check-ins.
Driving into the core area, you can see Fuyuan Temple. It is said to be the world's first Hakka enclosed house-style temple, the first religious site to incorporate the architectural concept of Hakka tulou enclosed houses. It skillfully integrates Buddhist culture, Hakka tulou architectural culture, Zen culture, and wellness culture. There is also an outdoor gold-plated bronze Golden Bodhi Sacred Tree.
After dropping off our luggage, we headed straight to the Black Forest Paradise. The Black Forest Paradise is connected by a long cable car. Taking the cable car to the mountaintop, you feel as if you are merging into the blue sky and walking shoulder to shoulder with the white clouds. At the summit, there are thrilling rotating flying chairs, a rotating disco, and a spinning coaster, as well as a strolling roller coaster that produces great photos with just a casual snap. This was my first experience of such things.
My favorite was this strolling roller coaster. The world's earliest strolling roller coaster appeared in the outskirts of Duisburg, Germany. Bavaria Manor brought this German creative classic to China, becoming the country's first 'roller coaster' where you walk up the bridge on foot. The red ladder-shaped structure provides a strong visual impact. Climbing to the top of the strolling roller coaster, feeling the autumn wind whizzing past my ears, I enjoyed the mountain and city scenery of Heyuan.
You can't miss soaking in hot springs when you come here. The Traditional Chinese Medicine hot springs at Bavaria Manor introduce 'medicinal baths,' using herbs as a guide to add healing benefits to the natural hot spring pools. In addition to the regular pools, there are also specialty pools such as lingzhi pool and beer pool.
Since it was a rare outing, I watched the Hakka cultural theater performance here, called 'Jia Yuan.' This is a large epic musical dance drama, depicting the migration and development of the Hakka people, vividly portraying their reproduction and development in the Heyuan area through art.
There are twelve hotel room options within Bavaria Manor. This time we chose to stay at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel. The hotel's exterior combines European castle and Hakka tulou design, so there are many choices in room types. We booked a mountain view room with direct access to natural hot spring water in the room.
The most touching thing was the night view of the Grain Wave Flower Valley. The wheat ears and rice fields / rainbow flower fields during the day, the golden autumn grain waves / windmill cottages / folk lanterns / fiery trees and silver flowers under the romantic starry sky at night, all complement each other. A beautiful scene, but who can I share it with?
Finally, I want to share my feelings about this trip. Coming to this Bavaria Manor brought me more surprises and appreciation. It was really unexpected to find such a treasure-like town near Guangzhou and Shenzhen. If I have the opportunity, I hope to come again with friends.
