Checking out exhibitions and taking photos at pop-up stores have become a must for today's youth. Through cutting-edge art and design, you can learn about different cultures and creative expressions, gaining new inspiration and ways of thinking. If you're planning a trip to Korea during the National Day holiday from September to October, we highly recommend the following five exhibitions/pop-ups to experience the current trends and directions of art development, and start a stylish journey in Korea~!

When it comes to popular exhibitions in Korea in September, "The Little Prince IN SEOUL" cannot be missed. The exhibition hall is about a 3-minute walk from Hongdae Entrance Station, making it very convenient. It's an opportunity to meet Saint-Exupéry's fairy tale "The Little Prince" through media art. "The Little Prince IN SEOUL" is Korea's first immersive media art exhibition, and also a great chance to create limited-edition travel memories.

Starting from the staircase, there are adorable decorations related to the little prince, as if saying, "This is the place you're looking for~"

When you open the door and go inside, you can pick up a soft cushion at the counter. Inside the exhibition hall, people sit in a row to enjoy the show playing along the long space.

This exhibition consists of 8 themes, each bringing a different kind of emotion. Before the media art begins, the planets appear in the air, looking truly beautiful—every snapshot is a perfect photo. If you've forgotten the content of "The Little Prince" or haven't read it, you might not fully understand some scenes. So it's recommended to briefly review the story summary first for a more immersive experience.

Compared to other exhibitions, "The Little Prince IN SEOUL" offers a new way of viewing. Just recalling the general plot of the little prince brings you back to childhood, and the most special part here is experiencing the beauty of the imagery. The exhibition, created by experts from various fields including composers, writers, media artists, illustrators, and programmers, makes Saint-Exupéry's fairy tale feel reborn~ If you come to Seoul, don't miss it!

Exhibition period: 2022.06.03 (Fri) ~ 2023.10.01 (Sun)

Location: THART

Starting this month, Paradise City Plaza is hosting the Banksy and Keith Haring exhibition.

Banksy and Keith Haring are very popular artists both in China and worldwide. The first floor of Paradise City Plaza displays Keith Haring's paintings, while the second floor features Banksy's works. It's a great deal to see both artists' works in one place~

The most eye-catching work in this exhibition is Banksy's representative piece "Love is in the Bin (2018)". In 2018, after "Girl with Balloon" was sold at Sotheby's in London, Banksy activated a shredding device hidden inside the frame, self-destructing the work. This single act increased the value of Banksy's work to 18 times the winning bid, sparking widespread discussion. The original work is titled "Love is in the Bin (2018)", and this exhibition marks its first public display under the new name "Girl without Balloon".

Keith Haring's colorful, cute, and stylish works have always inspired the public and have been used as references in fashion and interior design. Haring's work is characterized by graffiti and strong pop art style, using simple, rough lines and primary colors to convey the purity and energy of art, allowing for broad interpretation.

From September 5 to November 5, you can visit the exhibition 'LOVE IN PARADISE' daily to enjoy both artists' works. There is no closing day, and you can also listen to a free audio guide—remember to bring your earphones!

In addition, there will be side events such as candlelight concerts and children's educational experience programs. To ensure a comfortable viewing experience, advance reservations can be made every two weeks through the Naver online reservation system. Remember to check the schedule on the official website before visiting.

Many celebrities including ROSÉ, Lee Byung-hun, G-Dragon, Kim Tae-hyung, Jung Ho-yeon, and Uhm Jung-hwa attended the opening party. We highly recommend seeing this exhibition if you're traveling to Korea!

How can you visit Seoul without experiencing a pop-up store? Among the limited pop-up events in September, HAUS DOSAN Verdy, which even G-Dragon visited, is the hottest spot this month. Designer Verdy, a leading figure in Japanese street fashion, has created brands like "Wasted Youth" and "Girl's Don't Cry". With his unique artistic work, he has a huge following as a graphic designer. He has also collaborated with BLACKPINK!

The pop-up store is themed around Verdy's signature character "Vick" crash-landing in a beer warehouse, titled "Crash Landing". Through colorful artistic designs featuring Vick hidden in various spots of the beer warehouse and parachutes, the space allows you to experience Verdy's unique sense of fun.

Upon entering the pop-up store, you'll find the interior is decorated like a warehouse-style supermarket, with Vick in different expressions everywhere—perfect for photo ops!

To commemorate the opening, the brand is selling specially made limited edition "VERDI X HAUS DOSAN" merchandise and "Budweiser x WASTED YOUTH" merchandise, including T-shirts, hoodies, keychains, beer mugs, and more. New items will be released weekly, so collectors can always find different surprises whenever they visit.

Shopping is an essential part of any trip to Korea. THE Hyundai Seoul, as a landmark shopping center in Seoul, not only has a wide range of brand stores but also various pop-up exhibitions of all sizes. You won't get bored spending a whole day here. This month, on the fifth floor of THE Hyundai Seoul, a giant 10-meter-tall Mickey Mouse wearing a wizard hat has become the biggest highlight of the mall.

Although this pop-up is very popular, on weekdays you can enter directly without an online or on-site reservation. There are six studio-like booths featuring Snow White, Pinocchio, Winnie the Pooh, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and Toy Story, each with a photo zone. With classic Disney character decorations from various years, the familiar settings will instantly transport you back to childhood. The pop-up area also sells a variety of Disney merchandise. Even if you're not a Disney fan, you'll have a pleasant experience. If you're in Seoul this month, don't forget to experience the magical moments with Disney characters!

Finally, I'll introduce NUDAKE Sinsa Store, which opened in September. Located on Sinsa-dong Garosu-gil, the area has plenty of places to shop, so when you get tired, you can take a break at NUDAKE!

This dessert brand created by GENTLE MONSTER combines fashion and art. The store's theme is easy to spot—croissants are pasted on the exterior wall at the entrance!

The door handle of the dessert shop is also shaped like a croissant. Once inside, you'll find various details, including a large croissant installation that's very eye-catching, making you feel like you've entered a fantasy world of croissants.

Their signature dessert, oniwasang, combines the names of Japanese onigiri (rice ball) and croissant, and its shape is also a triangular rice ball—very fun. Come and experience this unique space!

Business hours: 11:00-21:00

Location: 43, Gangnam-daero 162-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul

That's all for today's hot exhibitions/pop-up recommendations. If you want to know more about Seoul, don't forget to leave a comment~ I hope everyone enjoys their September travel. See you next time!
