My Big World, Starting from Here — Singapore-Malaysia Trip [2011]

A full ten years later, I'm finally writing this little note. Flipping through old photos, looking at my silly self back then, although I can't fully recall the names of the scenic spots, the feelings at that time still linger in my heart, and I can't help but giggle alone at my computer.

Back then, I wasn't the mother of three precious babies;

Back then, my father was still alive;

Back then, it was my first time traveling abroad.

Time: February 3-9, 2011

Form: Free and independent travel

It was my first time going abroad, and also the first time I saw such beautiful sea views. To be honest, Sanya can't compare.

Actually, during breakfast, toucans would come to the dining area, boldly feasting on the tables. Of course, those were leftovers from the diners.

My mom especially loves joining the fun; she even squeezed into the crowd of a beach wedding for strangers.

The little snail on the window sill of our room.

Little monkeys could be seen everywhere on the hotel beach.

The leisurely peacock, it was the true permanent resident of this hotel.

Mom often says she likes to take pictures with flowers, because as people get older, they need a bit of color;

Mom also often says she likes to take pictures with big trees, because old tree bark can make her look younger.

Haha, Mom is always right.

Riding a scooter, we spent half a day wandering around the small town in the middle of the island. Even the dog food (PDA) was too sweet for me.

But to ride this vehicle, you need a driver's license; a domestic one works.

It was once the tallest skyscraper in the world (now the tallest is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai), but the Petronas Twin Towers are still the world's tallest twin towers, and together with the nearby Kuala Lumpur Tower, they are well-known landmarks and symbols of Kuala Lumpur.

2. Putra Mosque / Putrajaya / Sultan's Residence

Malaysia has several famous mosques, each with its own characteristics. If you have time and interest, you can visit more of them.

The Putra Mosque is the largest mosque in Malaysia and also the largest水上 mosque in Southeast Asia. It is located in Putrajaya and is modeled after the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco.

This is the attire for entering the mosque; free clothes are available for borrowing at the entrance.

3. Jamek Mosque

This mosque was designed by an Indian architect, with a traditional Islamic onion-shaped roof built from pink and milky white bricks.

4. Kuala Lumpur Bird Park

I must say, I really loved it here. It is a covered bird park, also called a walk-in aviary, where the birds roam freely and the entire park is covered with wire mesh above... Imagine that, it's so dreamy.

But some more aggressive birds are still kept in cages.

Even though it was a staged photo, I was still very excited. However, the claws of these large birds are very sharp.

5. Istana Negara (National Palace)

This hairstyle... my mind was quite peculiar when I was young...

This chocolate my husband bought for me, I never had the heart to eat it and kept it for many years. It hasn't changed much, and I don't know what ingredients are in it.

Malacca is the oldest historical city in Malaysia. Due to its unique geographical location, it was occupied successively by the Portuguese, Dutch, and British; of course, it was also a tributary state of China.

These special histories have created Malacca's diverse culture, which is endlessly fascinating. I suggest spending two more days here, strolling slowly and savoring it thoroughly.

To be honest, Singapore is not my style. I won't say much, just upload some photos to mark "been there, done that."

This is the legendary "Merlion"... Uh, okay, just snap a couple of shots.

Singapore's "Little India" area satisfied our mother-daughter shopping desires.

As for Singapore's Sentosa, it's very famous, but I really didn't feel much. Just snapped some photos and moved on.

The first time in life, the greatest significance is that it opens up a more beautiful future. Travel is exactly that.
