Liuzhou Vacation: Beyond the Baili Liujiang, These Attractions Are Also Worth Visiting

Food is a city's faith, and the night market is its soul.

Walking through the Zeyu Food City, bustling with people and rich aromas, I caught the sweet, sour, and spicy notes hanging in the air. Among them, the smell of snail noodles was the easiest to identify—a bit fragrant, a bit pungent, a contradiction in itself.

Strolling along the food street, I saw Liuzhou locals chatting and drinking freely. I really liked this place—it felt like a city with warmth and soul.

I loved the Liuzhou Park Hyatt Garden Hotel inside the food city. It offers a peaceful retreat amid the hustle, letting you feel Liuzhou's warmth and soul while keeping a bit of personal space. In the evening, my friend and I ordered takeout of barbecue and fried chicken at the hotel. The simple yet artistic style of the hotel seemed to make the barbecue even tastier. I guess this is what people mean by 'eating the ambiance.'

After eating and drinking our fill, we got a good night's sleep to officially start our tour the next day!

Our first stop was Liuhou Park, which was about a 5-minute Didi ride away—very close. The park was built in memory of Liu Zongyuan and is full of historical sites. A poem by Liu Zongyuan, 'Planting Oranges,' inspired the construction of a hexagonal pavilion called Ganxiang Pavilion. The park also features an artificial lake, a bonsai garden, rockeries and pavilions, winding bridges and corridors, and a children's playground for leisure. Overall, it's worth a visit.

Coming to Liuzhou, we had to try something thrilling. The Diwang Skywalk, billed as Liuzhou's most terrifying attraction, was something we were really looking forward to. A skywalk on the 76th floor, over 300 meters high—just hearing the numbers made our legs weak. Though we were all bravado before going up, once we stepped onto the glass, we truly felt unable to move. Even with very safe protective measures, I still felt like I might slip and fall. We inched our way through the entire walkway. (I'm such a coward!)

The Liuzhou Diwang Yunding Sightseeing also features 3D imagery, a Sky Post Office, a Sky Restaurant, a Sky Bar, and more. We had dinner there. Overlooking the entire Liuzhou city while enjoying good food—what a pleasure!

After dinner, we returned to the Baili Liujiang near our hotel and boarded a sightseeing boat. The neon lights on both banks twinkled, and the traffic was heavy. My friend and I couldn't resist pulling out our phones to take a few beautiful photos as souvenirs. The Baili Liujiang winds around Liuzhou, with many scenic spots along the way, such as the Musical Fountain and the Confucian Temple. It would definitely be romantic to come with a boyfriend!

After the boat ride, we were quite tired—maybe we're getting old, haha. We strolled slowly back to the hotel, but couldn't resist buying two servings of snail noodles at the food street. Ah, our diet plan completely collapsed in the face of good food…

Back at the hotel, while my friend was showering, I couldn't get enough of the night view of the Baili Liujiang from the window. It was truly beautiful…

The next day, urgent work matters came up and took up a lot of time. In the end, we only visited two attractions. Luckily, they were very close to the hotel; otherwise, it would have really ruined the mood. Here's a tip: no matter where you travel, it's best to book a hotel near the attractions, because you never know what might delay your sightseeing time.

After dealing with work, we headed to Yaobu Ancient Town. The architecture there recreates the rustic style of ancient villages and docks, showcasing the unique charm and character of Liuzhou as a historic and cultural city and reviving its former prosperity. The ancient town features commercial streets and a Dong Village Cultural Garden, perfect for both sightseeing and shopping—awesome!

Near Yaobu Ancient Town is Que'er Mountain Park, with winding bridges, flowing water, and lush trees that are intoxicating. The park also has a large water park, perfect for this sweaty season. The park is surrounded by water on the east and west sides, with osmanthus, murraya, and water apple trees planted along the lake. Whenever a gentle breeze blows, the faint fragrance of flowers drifts into your nose.

Good times always pass quickly. My trip to Liuzhou ends here. If you'd like to share your own Liuzhou travel experiences, feel free to leave a comment below~
