Liuzhou National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival Self-Drive Tour: How to Make Your Golden Week Vacation Worthwhile?
With this year's Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day approaching, I recall my trip to Liuzhou last Mid-Autumn Festival, so I write it down, hoping to help friends who are planning to vacation in Liuzhou.
Last Mid-Autumn Festival, my whole family drove one car from Guangzhou. We first went to Guilin, visited famous attractions like the Li River, Elephant Trunk Hill, Two Rivers and Four Lakes, and Yulong River, staying there for two days in total, and finally set off from Guilin to Liuzhou.
Liuzhou is a well-known industrial city, so it wouldn't normally be considered a tourist destination. But I couldn't resist my wife's strong recommendation, so we decided to come and see what this city famous for snail rice noodles is really like.
After arriving in Liuzhou, we first went to the hotel to settle in. We stayed at the Liuzhou Baiyue Garden Hotel, booked on Ctrip. We passed through a food street to reach the hotel. It was very quiet, giving a sense of 'peace in the midst of bustle.' It's a garden-style hotel with a great environment. The rooms were simply and tastefully decorated. Opening the window, we saw the hundred-mile Liujiang River with an especially broad view. We were very satisfied, the whole family was very satisfied.
We arrived in the evening. After settling in, we went to the food street to grab a bite. Of course, we had to have a bowl of authentic snail rice noodles. After eating, we went to the Liujiang River. The river breeze gently brushed our faces, and the moonlight shone on the great river, creating a beautiful scene. Seeing that we could take a cruise on the river, we naturally boarded a boat! Since we had also taken a cruise on the Pearl River in Guangzhou, this experience wasn't unfamiliar. But to be honest, the scenery along the hundred-mile Liujiang River was incredibly beautiful. There were musical fountains in the river, artificial waterfalls, and numerous scenic spots on both banks. The cultural landscapes and natural mountains and waters merged seamlessly, one scene after another, sometimes breathtaking, sometimes making us want to shout with abandon. I didn't even feel this way when cruising the Li River. Truly, it's a must-visit attraction on the Liujiang River. So when you come to Liuzhou, you must take a boat ride on the Liujiang River to experience the charm of Liuzhou, the 'Dragon City'.
The next morning, the whole family, old and young, had a very delicious breakfast at the Baiyue Garden Hotel. The service was especially attentive. Seeing that our child was quite young, they proactively asked if we needed any supplementary food, and knowing we were planning to go out, they also recommended some scenic spots and routes, which was very helpful.
Our first stop was Longtan Park (Dragon Pool Park). The park was lush with green trees, surrounded by hills, and the air was excellent. It was really suitable as a sightseeing destination for the whole family. The pool water was clear, like a swimming dragon, providing another delightful visual feast. Along with the Penglai scenic spot inside the park, Longtan Park is one of the few parks I truly love. Honestly, Longtan Park is perfect for spending a whole day slowly strolling, but my wife said we needed to go to Chengyang Bazhai, and we were worried about time, so we left the park a bit earlier.
Chengyang Bazhai is a cluster of eight Dong minority villages connected together. They have well-preserved wooden stilt houses, song and dance culture, and ancient traditions like living customs. The people there were very hospitable and enthusiastic, singing and dancing everywhere, creating a joyous atmosphere. We were deeply infected, feeling very relaxed, a bit like attending a bonfire party in an ethnic minority area. Moreover, the famous Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge is located in Chengyang Bazhai; it is the largest wind and rain bridge in the world. The most amazing thing about this bridge is that it has stood for a hundred years without a single nail. I was stunned.
In the evening, we returned to the Liuzhou Baiyue Garden Hotel. On the last day, we climbed Ma'anshan (Saddle Hill) in the morning, and at noon we visited Liuhou Temple. Although Ma'anshan is not high, it offers a panoramic view of Liuzhou. The air in the morning was really good, and there were many people climbing. Liuhou Temple houses the tomb of the great literary figure Liu Zongyuan. Since I personally like literature, I definitely had to visit this place. It was very quiet. I think if I were a local, I would often come here. It has a strong cultural atmosphere and is a place worth visiting.
After leaving Liuhou Temple, we drove straight back to Guangzhou. Overall, the trip to Liuzhou was very pleasant. The scenery was nice, the people we met were nice, and the hotel we stayed at was also nice. It could be called an unexpected delight! If you also like traveling, why not go to Liuzhou for a vacation this National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival!
