The "2020 Beautiful China Tour · Focusing on Liuzhou's Big Health Industry and Tourism Equipment Manufacturing Development" press tour and promotion activity officially set off in Liuzhou. This event is the 99th press tour of the "Beautiful China Tour" series, co-hosted by China Tourism News and Liuzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism.

For me, a northerner through and through, Rongshui Miao Autonomous County in Liuzhou, Guangxi, sparked boundless imagination. I love the Miao people—for no particular reason, just an inexplicable fondness. So I set out with passion and anticipation.

Rongshui boasts clear waters, lush mountains, and a pristine ecological environment, showcasing natural beauty with rich ethnic customs. Located in northern Guangxi, Rongshui County is 350 kilometers from Nanning and 108 kilometers from Liuzhou. Established in 1952, it is the earliest Miao autonomous county in the country and the only one in Guangxi.

Rongshui is renowned as the "Town of a Hundred Festivals" and "China's Lusheng and Horse Fighting Culture Town," as the Miao people celebrate numerous festivals. It has been honored with titles such as "Guangxi's Famous County for Special Tourism," "Guangxi's Excellent Tourism County," "China's Town of a Hundred Folk Festivals," "China's Best Green Ecotourism Destination," "China's Best Ethnic Customs Tourism Destination," and "China's Most Beautiful Eco-Cultural Tourism County."

01/ Miao Town, the place that touched me most

This Miao Town is one of the relocated settlement projects for poverty alleviation in the county (the Chengnan settlement). Covering 169 mu (about 11.3 hectares), it includes 32 residential buildings with 1,668 units. The poverty alleviation project has been so well-executed that it has lifted numerous Miao poor households out of poverty—a truly remarkable achievement.

During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, the autonomous region assigned the county government a task of relocating 13,695 people for poverty alleviation. Among them, three settlements in the county seat accommodated 3,086 households (12,689 people), accounting for 92.6%, while rural settlements housed 230 households (1,006 people), accounting for 7.4%. Construction began in August 2016. Thereafter, annual tasks were assigned to relocate registered poor households. The county government arranged employment for the relocated Miao people in Miao Town, and these Miao families, now with jobs and incomes, speak with a full sense of happiness. Visiting Miao Town in Rongshui Miao Autonomous County truly made me feel the government's efforts and achievements in poverty alleviation relocation!

In the specialty commercial street of Miao Town, there is a "Miao · Qiaoniang Market" (Caiyun Miao Art). This is a non-heritage poverty alleviation workshop funded by Guangxi Liuzhou Caiyun Miao Art Trading Co., Ltd., with an investment of 2 million yuan. Covering 1,500 square meters over three floors, it is dedicated to preserving traditional ethnic handicrafts and promoting ethnic culture.

The head of the "Miao · Qiaoniang Market," Li Yiyuan, is the legal representative of Guangxi Liuzhou Caiyun Miao Art Trading Co., Ltd., a representative inheritor of Miao embroidery in the autonomous region, and an advanced individual in national intangible cultural heritage protection. She speaks Mandarin very well and is also very beautiful.

Miao Town, the Chengnan settlement. The project covers 169 mu, with 32 residential buildings (1,668 units), housing 6,694 people. Supporting facilities include water, electricity, roads, sewage, and public amenities such as schools and leisure squares. To address the employment challenges for relocated residents, the county government leveraged industrial and geographical advantages, simultaneously building 15 industrial buildings (commercial units) to create an ethnic specialty block. To ensure education for relocated poor children, they also built Miao Town Primary School.

Closely adhering to the county development positioning of "Beautiful Rongshui, Charming Miao Township," they sustain follow-up industries by strengthening development foundations, supporting subsequent industries, and expanding employment channels!

On the street, you will see new stilted buildings, Caiyun Miao Art, and more. Elementary school students from Miao Town come to Caiyun Miao Art every week to learn embroidery. These children focus intently as they learn from their teachers.

The non-heritage employment workshop employs 30 people, including 20 registered poor households. The workshop is divided into four areas: garment and craft processing workshop, sales and exhibition center, training center, and office. Its main products include clothing, shoes, hats, accessories, scarves, silver jewelry, and decorative paintings, with an annual output value of over 2 million yuan. It is dedicated to the redevelopment of traditional Miao (Yao) embroidery products. Through innovative design, it applies traditional Miao (Yao) brocade and embroidery to clothing and accessory design, merging tradition with innovation, giving new vitality to traditional Miao and Yao ethnic costumes. The workshop aims to promote ethnic culture and inherit ethnic skills, driving "skillful hands out of poverty" through the "fingertip economy," providing a stage for artisans to showcase their talents.

The non-heritage poverty alleviation employment workshop has achieved remarkable results. To inherit and promote China's excellent traditional culture, while effectively protecting and inheriting intangible cultural heritage, they have made supporting women's entrepreneurship and employment a primary task for women's development and a focal point for poverty alleviation. The "fingertip economy" drives "skillful hands out of poverty," and through such development, poverty alleviation efforts have been highly effective.

02/ Traditional Craft Incubation Center, amazed by the beautiful Miao brocade

At the Guangxi Traditional Craft Incubation Center, we were fortunate to meet Tang Qiaoying, a representative inheritor of the Miao brocade technique, an autonomous region-level intangible cultural heritage project.

This traditional craft incubation center has many hand looms and many beautiful Miao girls, dressed in stunning ethnic costumes and headdresses, diligently operating the hand looms. They are not very old but are highly skilled in their techniques, weaving colorful patterned fabrics with bright colors and exquisite designs. Inheritor Tang Qiaoying is a member of the China Folk Literature and Art Association, deputy director of the Ethnic Weaving and Embroidery Professional Committee of the Guangxi Folk Literature and Art Association, chief mentor of weaving and embroidery techniques at the Guangxi Traditional Craft Incubation Center, trainer at the Miao Brocade Workshop of Rongshui Miao Autonomous County Youth Activity Center, resident craftsman at Nanning Normal University, and a master of arts and crafts in Liuzhou! On the walls of the incubation center, there are many award certificates.

03/ Fully leveraging e-commerce to help Miao villagers escape poverty and become prosperous

Guangxi Rongshui Lingrui Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd. is an agricultural product e-commerce operation team organized by e-commerce elites in Rongshui. Its main brands include "Yayawu," "Gandong Mei," and "Tonglian Yao Township." They help villagers bring more distinctive, marketable agricultural products out of the great Miao mountains. The company's main products include Yayawu charcoal-grilled chili, Tonglian Yao Township native chicken, Gandong cloud-flying chicken, spring water snails,农家生态米, wild honey, bamboo fungus, shiitake mushrooms, and other specialty poverty alleviation agricultural products from Rongshui.

They mainly adopt a development model of "e-commerce company + specialty poverty alleviation cooperative + poor households." Relying on the team's comprehensive agricultural product uplink system, they directly contract with and drive 2,200 poor households, providing pre-production, in-production, and post-production services. This has formed industrialized operations, promoting the development of township poverty alleviation industries and enabling poor households to escape poverty and become prosperous!

They have also established three entrepreneurship incubation bases, providing policy support to 102 agricultural product planting cooperatives. Through entrepreneurship training, guidance, and rural entrepreneurship incubation service platforms, they guide cooperatives to develop advantageous products, accelerating the development of poverty alleviation industries in the great Miao mountains.

In the e-commerce center, a wide variety of agricultural products are displayed in abundance. These original ecological green products from the great Miao mountains await distribution to various places, hoping to bring a new leap in poverty alleviation work and make the lives of the local villagers better and better!

04/ Qicai Farm, Auto Camp, leisurely tourism in harmony

Qicai Farm is nestled by mountains and rivers, with beautiful scenery—very unique. Located in the area around Xinguo Village, Rongshui Town, the core area is beside the North Ring Avenue of Rongshui County, offering convenient transportation, only 3 kilometers from the county center. Its leading industries include leisure agriculture, Dendrobium officinale, golden pears, citrus, and garden planting. In 2016, it was rated as a Guangxi County-level Modern Characteristic Agriculture Demonstration Zone. It is also a distance learning demonstration base, vigorously implementing the "distance + base + farmers" learning and application model, fully leveraging its demonstrative and guiding role, and continually radiating to surrounding farmers. It has created 100 jobs and lifted 37 poor households out of poverty. With income, their lives have improved, and they work happily here with gratitude every day.

The farm has been honored with titles such as "Guangxi County-level Modern Characteristic Agriculture Demonstration Zone," "Guangxi Five-Star Rural Tourism Area," "Five-Star Farm Stay," "Guangxi Women's Poverty Alleviation Demonstration Base," "Guangxi Golden Hydrangea Farm Stay Demonstration Site," "Liuzhou's Most Delicious Rural Tourism Destination," and "Liuzhou Key Leading Enterprise in Agricultural Industrialization." Rongshui Miao Autonomous County is a national key county for poverty alleviation and development and a county in the Yunnan-Guizhou-Guangxi rocky desertification area. This visit to Rongshui made me feel that the poverty alleviation work here has indeed achieved remarkable results.

Qicai Farm is a unique leisure family farm integrating dining, entertainment, vacation, tourism, sightseeing, and aquaculture. With its beautiful scenery, it is truly a great place for tourism, sightseeing, and leisure vacations. Visitors can also experience activities such as catching fish in rice paddies, roasting fish, clay-baked chicken, clay-baked sweet potatoes, self-service barbecue, pounding glutinous rice cakes, garden tours, catching chickens under the forest, fruit picking, vegetable picking, and self-service parent-child cooking.

Qicai Farm is planned, constructed, and managed according to five-star standards. It features a children's and adult water obstacle course park, a large RV campground, a tent camping base, a basketball court, meeting rooms, and 16 European-style villa-style private rooms. The farm adopts a poverty alleviation business model of "company + farm + poor households."

On the farm, there are large bubble star huts that can accommodate up to 50 people at once. The bubble huts are fully transparent with curtains and have bathrooms inside. Sleeping inside, as night falls, looking up at the starry sky and admiring the vast stars, is a truly unique and beautiful experience!

With the continuous development of Qicai Farm and the growing scale of its industries, while making tourism products bigger, better, and stronger, they actively undertake more social responsibilities, leveraging the poverty alleviation advantages of rural tourism to support the county's poverty alleviation campaign and contribute to Rongshui's synchronized realization of moderate prosperity with the whole region and the whole country.

The farm can accommodate over 800 people for dining at the same time. The dishes are mainly made from the farm's own produce, with its signature dish being the self-produced "Dendrobium officinale," which is ranked as the top of the "Nine Great Immortal Grasses of China" and is known as the "golden herb in medicine." According to the "Compendium of Materia Medica," Dendrobium officinale has the effects of "strengthening yin, replenishing essence, fortifying the stomach, supplementing internal deficiencies, lightening the body, and prolonging life."

During this visit to Rongshui, I enjoyed many local delicacies. The most famous is the internet-famous Luosifen (snail rice noodles), along with pickled vegetables, glutinous rice cakes, five-color sticky rice, Miao fried tea, Rongshui fragrant duck, and so on. My impression of Rongshui is that it has an abundance of delicious food and beautiful women.

Rongshui County has a history of over two thousand years. No matter how time passes, how the years change, this place remains a paradise. Surrounded by mountains, facing the mountain breeze, with rivers stretching out, it has become the most beautiful version of itself. The Miao villages, Yuanbao Mountain, Shuanglonggou Glass Bridge, deep pools, and secluded caves weave together a picturesque landscape. It has been many days since I returned to Beijing from Rongshui, but the taste of Rongshui's cuisine lingers. The beautiful scenery of Rongshui remains in my heart. May beautiful Rongshui become even more beautiful. May the lives of the local villagers get better and better!
