A Letter from Spring: Liuzhou’s Limited-Edition Love Letter
Prologue: Spring’s sole pursuit is flowers. In spring, we busy ourselves with nothing but flowers. Each April, Liuzhou, Guangxi, is blanketed in Bauhinia blossoms. At a single glance, the pink floral sea turns the entire city into a rendezvous for romantic tales.
Nature’s beauty is always abundant and dignified, like an order—once a year, one encounter, never missing a beat. The Bauhinia is spring’s messenger, bringing a love letter that belongs exclusively to Liuzhou.
April in Liuzhou is gentle and subtle; every corner, every sight is worth cherishing and capturing. Below, I reveal the most photogenic spots from this love letter—follow the lens to discover the finest Bauhinia seas!
NO.1: Prettiest Park Photo Locations
If you ask where Liuzhou’s loveliest spring scenery lies, I’d definitely recommend Dalongtan Park first. The park sits in the southern part of Liuzhou, just three kilometers from downtown, boasting stunning karst landscapes with mountains and waters, enhanced by Bauhinia blossoms—picture-perfect, like a hidden paradise.
I’m a huge fan of karst terrain; the park is perfect for aerial photography. From a drone’s view, you can take in the entire landscape and those strokes of pink nestled within, and you’ll surely marvel at nature’s craftsmanship.
The most beautiful anticipation is the moment I unexpectedly meet you. How can I describe you to others? Amid green hills and clear waters, the Bauhinia blooms everywhere, unadorned, fresh and natural, outshining every charm.
On weekends, bring your kids and family to enjoy the blossoms and camp; only then will you make the most of this splendid springtime. Radiant hills and emerald waters complement each other, enhancing their allure. It’s as if it’s been ages since I inhaled the faint fragrance of flowers and earth—such moments deserve to be treasured and kept.
Besides Dalongtan Park, Panlongshan Park is another superb spot for flower viewing. Located on the east bank of the Liu River, its ridge stretches three peaks, standing tall by the river like a coiled dragon, hence the name.
The main peak of Panlongshan rises 197 meters, steep and graceful. The Panlong Pagoda and Wenguang Pagoda on the hill echo each other, surrounded by bursts of Bauhinia, exuding a classic, elegant beauty. Walking among them, the breeze carries floral scents, making everything feel just right.
The whole park nestles by the water and mountains, with lush scenery and both natural and cultural sights. It’s also perfect for a stroll; as you walk, you’ll find that from various angles, you can capture the pagodas framed by Bauhinia blossoms.
Bauhinia, also called redbud or purple-flowered tree, blooms in April and May. But a city like Liuzhou, entirely planted with Bauhinia, is rare. Even the roadsides around the parks are awash in purple oceans—simply too romantic.
NO.2: Prettiest Road Photo Locations
Some say that spring in Liuzhou revolves around two things: waiting for the Bauhinia to bloom and admiring its beauty. April is the season of Bauhinia, and the most gorgeous time in Liuzhou. Not just in parks, but along every street and lane, you can harvest the most beautiful scenery.
Putao Hill Road in April never fails to surprise. The bustling Bauhinia blooms with abandon, each tree a cascade of pink, and looking up, you see an entire spring.
If it rained the day before, the fallen petals add an extra touch of romance, and with so few residents around, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a fresh, indie music video.
In a lifetime, we encounter countless meetings; some are landscapes glimpsed and forgotten, while others take root and sprout in your heart. The spring on Putao Hill Road enchants your eyes, intoxicates your mood, and no matter how you look, deep joy blossoms inside.
When the Bauhinia blooms citywide, Shuinan Road, Liuzhou’s “internet-famous” flower-viewing spot, is always flanked by people gathering spring moments. I often can’t help but sigh: Liuzhou residents are so blessed—every snapshot freezes a spring memory.
The path is dotted with flowers; you can amble home slowly. In Liuzhou now, the spring breeze is intoxicating, grasses grow and warblers soar, with endless seas of blossoms—naturally, you’ll want to linger for a few more days. Even walking along paths strewn with petals feels poetic and picturesque.
People instinctively slow down, raise their cameras, freeze time, and preserve the beauty. The blooming Bauhinia on both sides of the road dyes the world in romantic hues; words feel too pale here—only by being there can you sense this magic.
Spring water begins to swell, spring woods begin to flourish, yet spring breezes pale compared to you. Riverside Road is also a fine spot for flower appreciation in Liuzhou—whether aerial shots or portraits with blossoms, it won’t disappoint.
This pink romance unique to Dragon City draws citizens flocking to the pink ocean, starting flower-viewing mode. Look around: flowers everywhere, scenery at every step, a loved one by your side—people and blossoms in perfect harmony.
“Fragrant grass, fresh and lovely; fallen petals in abundance”—this poetic line truly fits Liuzhou’s spring. I once thought steel-and-concrete cities were too rigid, lacking tenderness, but Liuzhou is different. It has spring’s most romantic softness; once you leave, you’ll surely feel a deep fondness.
NO.3: Prettiest Bridge Photo Locations
Fenghuangling Bridge is a dual-purpose road-and-rail bridge, currently the widest and longest-span wind-and-rain bridge in China. Its architecture is unique, inspired by Dong-style wind-and-rain bridges. The rustic design, framed by Bauhinia, is flawless from every angle, incredibly beautiful.
As a new landmark in Liuzhou, photographers often frequent it, and it’s even livelier during Bauhinia season. The grand bridge spans both banks of the Liu River, imposing, with Bauhinia in full bloom all around—a stunning sight on the river, evoking a sense of tranquil time.
Baisha Bridge, Liuzhou’s most beautiful internet-famous bridge, is currently the world’s highest and largest opposed cable-stayed bridge. It looks like a gigantic ring, stretching east–west and linking north–south.
Because of its distinctive shape, it’s nicknamed “Happiness Bridge”; locals say a stroll across it brings happiness as promised. From an aerial view, the green mountains and clear Liu River, the pinkish-purple blossoms, and the city blending with nature create a scene where the air is tinged with Bauhinia fragrance, and the sights on both banks unfold ceaselessly.
Beneath Baisha Bridge, there’s a viewing platform—perfect not only for flowers but also for sunset. On an evening with gentle breezes, after dinner, come watch the sun go down, bid farewell to a lovely day, and feel refreshed, leaving all worries behind.
At night, multicolored neon lights gleam on the bridge, and everything grows quiet. You’ll realize that life’s truest beauty is right here, in this moment.
