Liuzhou Self-Drive Trip: A Four-Day Getaway with My Bestie
The reason I chose to visit Liuzhou was still for the snail noodles. When I went to Guilin before, I had already tried snail noodles from several shops. But after all, whenever we talk about snail noodles, we always mention 'Liuzhou snail noodles.' Since that's the case, let's start a self-guided trip to Liuzhou.
In Liuzhou, we stayed at Yunding, and the cost wasn't high. However, note that now all places require nucleic acid test certificates, and many requirements for out-of-province visitors are a 48-hour nucleic acid test. So, remember to get a nucleic acid test before departing.
After arriving in Liuzhou, the first thing we did was go to a snail noodle shop. The shop is called Xihuan Feizai Luosifen. The portion of snail noodles was really generous—a big full bowl. There were also many kinds of toppings. There was also a braised chicken foot that looked like it had been braised for a long time, very tender.
Besides snail noodles, we also ordered several other dishes here. Actually, the price of snail noodles here isn't expensive. But we added some braised items, so the price was a bit higher.
I especially want to recommend their duck soup. It was simply delicious, very fresh. Also, the braised pig trotters were good—soft and sticky. There were also a few pieces of pork belly, cooked in a way that was fatty but not greasy. Thinking back, the fact that the two of us could eat so much proves that we are indeed big eaters.
After eating, we went to Yunding. The view from Yunding was fantastic. We checked into the 70th floor (the highest I've ever stayed). The view was great—seeing the city from a high vantage point felt amazing.
For dinner, we went to Shuinan Zengjie Soy Milk Shop. Its business hours are from 5 PM to 2 AM. This totally contradicted my normal understanding. After all, soy milk and fried dough sticks are usually breakfast foods.
My bestie said that since it can stay open until 2 AM, it shows that the local people have a rich nightlife.
When we arrived, we saw many people queuing. This shop is popular among locals. I particularly recommend their Shadui (fried dough balls), which were super delicious. The soy milk had a little sugar added, so it was quite sweet.
At night, we had snail noodles again. In Liuzhou, you can find snail noodles at any corner. This time, we didn't buy braised meat, just had the snail noodles. Two portions cost less than 35 yuan, which I thought was reasonable. The shop also had sweet soup. I'm not really used to the local sweet soup; it tasted average to me, but my bestie thought it was very delicious.
In the evening, we wandered around the city center. We went into a few shops to buy some things, then found a place by the roadside to rest for a while. And with that, the day's itinerary came to an end.
The next morning, we still had a bowl of snail noodles. Actually, after three consecutive meals of snail noodles, I was getting numb. I don't recommend eating it as frequently as we did. Even though I love snail noodles so much, I was almost breaking down.
We just found a random shop to eat at. Next to this shop was Cuicui Luosifen, a very famous local snail noodle shop. It is said that they only sell 100 bowls a day. I don't really like places that set such rules. After eating snail noodles, we then went to a village. This village had a Party and Mass Service Center.
After leaving, we went to the outskirts of the village to see the scenery. The most famous thing here is probably the crayfish. I saw many people fishing for crayfish every day, and that's how I learned that crayfish live in freshwater.
Walking along the road, I smelled the fragrance of flowers and heard the chirping of birds—all my favorite feelings.
When we reached the crayfish pond, we saw several people working. Although I didn't see any crayfish, I was already imagining the taste of garlic crayfish in my mind.
Afterwards, we went to Shiliuhong Square, which is very famous. However, I preferred the scenery around the square. For example, we saw a Harvest Stage there. Even though we didn't see any performance on stage, it was enough to show that the local people live happily.
We also saw some households growing vegetables and fruits nearby, and we spotted long beans and eggplants. I feel like I haven't seen these vegetable plants for many years. So, I quickly took a few photos.
After leaving Beian Village, we then went to Jiangwan Village. It was precisely this trip that made me realize there are so many famous villages in Liuzhou. When we arrived at Jiangwan Village, we first parked the car outside, then wandered around the village.
We saw a park. The park was very large, and there were places for leisure and entertainment. I really like this kind of environment. At least on the surface, it feels like 'living and working in peace and contentment.' Green hills and clear waters—that's probably the feeling.
The village committee here was also quite large. In my memory, the village committee in my own village was very ordinary, just a single house. But looking at this village committee, it had the feel of a county committee compound.
Then we went to look at the farmland. The farmland here was also very large, with many crops planted. However, the only one we recognized was rice. Later, we saw a road. Even the village had roads, and they were named, which shows that this village is quite large, I suppose.
In the evening, we returned to the hotel and continued ordering takeout. Since we were going home soon, we continued eating snail noodles. Just to leave ourselves some good memories. The two of us actually ordered several portions of snail noodles. The taste of snail noodles from different shops was indeed a bit different. I really loved Jubao Luosifen; it had that stinky smell, exactly the kind I love. Additionally, we ordered two cold drinks. One of them was black, and it tasted a bit strange.
After finishing the takeout, we felt re-energized. So, we set off again to Yaobu Ancient Town.
From a distance, the lights there were very charming. We took many photos in the ancient town. Then we went back to the hotel. Since we were hungry from all the walking, we ordered some more takeout.
