It's been nearly 10 years since I last saw the lotus flowers in Baipeng. In late July, after work, I chatted with friends about how the sun was still so strong. Lotus flowers bloom from June to August, so after work we headed to Baipeng to see the lotuses at sunset. We just went for it. Checking the navigation, the drive from the city center to Baipeng takes an hour, and there are also city and rural buses from Liujiang to Baipeng. On the way, we stopped by the roadside to buy two durians (they seemed cheap, but in the end, I learned that you can't be too greedy โ€“ the short weight was very serious). There was a section of road under construction for a few kilometers, which wasn't very easy to drive. After 50 minutes of driving, the faint fragrance of lotus leaves wafted in the air. Looking up, I saw an endless stretch of lotus ponds and leaves reaching the sky. We arrived at the Xialun Lotus Flower Scenic Area in Baipeng. Cars can drive along the scenic road into the village surrounded by lotus ponds. No entrance fee, parking costs 10 yuan. In the evening, there are snacks and restaurants. Locals said that driving about 10 minutes ahead along the main road to a town would be cheaper and tastier, but we didn't try it. This year the weather was extremely hot. Even at 6 p.m., the sun was still high up โ€“ it was really hot. Recommended arrival time: before 8 a.m. or after 6:30 p.m. The lotus ponds, leaves, and flowers were not in full bloom, but the leaves were beautiful. At 8 p.m., we bid farewell to the evening breeze and returned to the city. Oncoming cars passed us in intervals โ€“ they were coming to see the lotus pond under the moonlight. Travel Diary Index: 1. Going to see the lotus flowers 2. Seeing the lotus flowers 3. Farewell to the lotus flowers.
