The Beauty of the Industrial City of Liuzhou: The River Snail Rice Noodles Here Are Really Aromatic

The first trip of 2023 has finally begun. The great rivers and mountains of our motherland, what I have seen is but a tiny fraction. For 2023, I made a travel plan for myself, requiring at least four trips covering six cities. I came to Liuzhou in early April, and I will also go to Guilin and Nanning for the May Day holiday.

As usual, I booked an Asian Lion and picked it up at the Liuzhou station.

Zibo barbecue is extremely popular offline; I hope I can go there before the summer vacation this year. This time in Liuzhou, I also had barbecue. We chose Shengli Barbecue City. To experience that carefree and lively atmosphere, we specifically went for barbecue at night.

It was still early when we arrived in Liuzhou, so we first visited the Confucian Temple. The Confucian Temple does not require an entrance fee. Many temples look better at night, but the Confucian Temple is an exception; it looks better during the day. It probably has to do with the color scheme of the temple. The greenery outside is lush, and various flowers are in full bloom.

As soon as it got dark, we hurried to Shengli Barbecue City. There is a great variety of barbecue here, and the prices are not too expensive. Besides barbecue, you can also try Ding Dang Fried Cake and Snail and Duck Feet Pot. The Duck Feet Pot was my first time eating it; there were many duck feet inside, along with tofu puffs. The tofu puffs had absorbed the broth of the pot. Taking a sip was super satisfying.

The entire city of Liuzhou is not very large, and the barbecue city gathers almost all of the city's delicacies. Because we arrived early, there were relatively few people queuing at that time. As we ate barbecue, the crowd gradually increased, and later, every stall had long lines.

Looking at the crowd here, so many people are flocking here. Lately, I've been watching various videos and found that Zibo barbecue is just like this. A few days ago, I saw a video of people singing continuously at the barbecue stalls. The sudden relaxation and beauty were really healing.

After eating barbecue, we returned to the guesthouse. The guesthouse we chose this time was near Wuxing Fengqing Street. The room rate was 400 yuan. Personally, I think the price is indeed not cheap, but fortunately, the environment is quite good.

We woke up early the next morning. Qingyun Morning Market has breakfast available, so we drove there. The morning market was very crowded, with a lot of food. We had sesame paste, shrimp dumplings, and more. I felt that many of the breakfast items here were Hong Kong-style dishes.

The morning market was bustling with people coming and going. A question: Are there any cities in China that have a lot of foreign tourists? If there were more foreign tourists, China's income would definitely be higher, haha.

Now, Qingyun Morning Market has become an internet-famous check-in spot. Look at the food here; it's already packed, prepared for tourists. (Locals also come here for breakfast.)

There were hardly any seats in the morning market; you could also pack the food and take it back to the hotel to eat, or find a small street-side shop to eat. I strongly recommend everyone to try the sesame paste here; it's very smooth.

After eating, we happily set off for Ma'anshan (haha, not the Ma'anshan that is the little brother of Nanjing). Ma'anshan is not very high, but never underestimate it, because it's all stairs.

If you don't want to hike, you can directly take the elevator. The elevator fee is not high: 20 yuan to go up and 10 yuan to go down. This shows that going down is easier, haha. Since we ate a lot in the morning, we wanted to burn off the food, so we ended up choosing to hike.

Climbing all the way, it takes about an hour to reach the top. Along the way, we saw some retired elderly people climbing faster than us. I feel that after retirement, we wouldn't have that stamina.

Standing on the mountain, you can overlook many views of Liuzhou. In my opinion, viewing the city from the front is not as good as from the other side; from the back, you can also see the continuous mountain ranges.

Leaving Ma'anshan, we immediately went to Xiong's Mansion. This restaurant is not large but looks very upscale. The hall has greenery, rockeries, and streams, creating a perfect atmosphere.

Before coming, I thought we could only eat river snail rice noodles in small street-side eateries, but I didn't expect to find them in a large restaurant.

It looks very hygienic. You can choose some ingredients to add, and the variety of side dishes is very rich. In my opinion, this is truly a high-end version of river snail rice noodles. When I buy river snail rice noodles myself, I definitely can't get this kind.

Note that the noodles here can be chosen by yourself, either one or two liang (50g or 100g).

After eating the river snail rice noodles, we found a place to sit for a while, then drove to Dalongtan. Dalongtan is a very famous park in Liuzhou. It is very beautiful and quite large. Since our time was limited, we didn't explore much here. The water in Dalongtan is exceptionally clear and green, like flowing emeralds.

The continuous mountain ranges here also complement the white clouds in the sky. Fluffy white clouds, very beautiful. Since it wasn't the weekend, there were fewer people in the park. I imagine it would be very crowded on weekends.

Look at the greenery on the peaks. The beauty of the south lies in the lush green leaves at any time.

Leaving Dalongtan, we drove to Native Soil Flavor House. This restaurant is located at the boarding point for Liuzhou's night cruise. I have to exclaim that the dishes at Liuzhou's Native Soil Flavor House are incredibly delicious. We ordered spring bamboo shoots, tofu soup, duck pot, and more. Every dish was particularly tasty.

Also, they have a type of fish that is very good. I forgot its name but took a photo. The broth inside goes very well with rice. We ate quite a lot there, and then continued to explore. I'll share some of the photos I took. Actually, I took many photos.

The Liujiang River at night is very beautiful. I highly recommend taking a night cruise here. The night cruise ship we boarded was the "Taihe 1." The ticket was a bit expensive, 80 yuan. If you don't get seasick, I suggest sitting on the third floor. From there, you can see beautiful scenery. The only drawback is that it's quite windy, which can easily cause seasickness.

The highlight of the Liujiang night cruise is seeing waterfalls, forests, mountains, and fountains. With that, the ticket feels quite worth it.

Look at the waterfall in the distance, cascading down. You can even hear the sound of the waterfall. Such beautiful scenery is truly captivating.

The color of the river surface keeps changing, in purple, red, and blue.

After the cruise, our day's itinerary ended. At night, we found a shop to eat some river snail rice noodles and then went to sleep. The next morning, we set off early for Liuzhou Park.

The old city of Liuzhou is where locals live, and usually, they have lived here for many years. The old city gives a slow-paced feeling. We walked for less than 20 minutes, found a local to chat with, and talked for about 20 minutes. They seemed very friendly. After that, we arrived at Liuzhou Park.
