Guangxi Self-Drive Trip: Checking in at Nanning and Liuzhou

Guangxi Self-Drive Trip: Checking in at Nanning and Liuzhou

Originally we only planned to visit Nanning, but while researching we found that Liuzhou is not far from Nanning, and traveling to both cities could let us see more of our favorite attractions. So we added Liuzhou to our itinerary.

Day 1: An interesting coffee shop

Arrived at Nanning Railway Station, first went to pick up the car. It was just opposite the station, very convenient for picking up the car. This time we rented a Fit.

Then we went to the city center, where we saw a particularly interesting coffee shop. There was a bicycle at the entrance, and it looked really cool. My friend said, this coffee shop is totally, haha.

I looked at the license plate, isn't this a bit too 'alternative'?

Their coffee was pretty good. We ordered coffee, drank it, and then left. I really liked their counter, it was designed with so much charm. For example, that sunflower knit item looked so cute, it felt萌萌哒. Actually, it was a bottle.

I have to say, some wooden products can really be made to look high-end. Likewise, they can elevate the style of a shop a lot.

After that, we went to the Nanning Museum. Note, we chose the Nanning Museum, not the Guangxi Provincial Museum. The Nanning Museum is relatively smaller, but the variety of artifacts inside is quite rich.

Originally we wanted to go to the Provincial Museum, but we couldn't book tickets for that day. This shows that museums are indeed very popular during holidays. The Nanning Museum also doesn't require admission tickets. In this museum, we learned more about the development history of Nanning. You can follow their official account or refer to some materials, and by studying these materials in depth, you can gain a deeper understanding of these artifacts.

After leaving the Nanning Museum, we went to the Three Streets and Two Alleys. This is also a very famous living area in the local area.

The Three Streets and Two Alleys are perfect for strolling at night. There were many tourists, and also many food stalls. Isn't a lively and bustling life the essence of everyday vibrancy? I really love the atmosphere here. Many people come here to take photos. I suggest finding a spot by the wall with fewer people, the photos turn out nice.

On the second day, our first stop was the Nanning Zoo. There were also many tourists in the zoo, many parents with children. Additionally, there was a free dolphin show inside. Overall, this zoo is quite rich.

About tickets: 1.2 to 1.4 meters height is 25 yuan, under 1.2 meters is free.

During every holiday, the zoo has the most visitors. I personally suggest that parents avoid peak times; if they must go on holidays, they should keep a close eye on their children.

There are many animals in the zoo, including a large group of crocodiles. These crocodiles piled together, I don't know if it's their habit or if the living environment is too poor.

I saw the extremely yellow teeth of a hippopotamus. The elephant enclosure wasn't very big, but I think it was quite friendly to the elephants. It reminded me of many years ago when I went to the Changsha Zoo, and saw an elephant chained with iron chains, it felt so desolate.

Since we experienced the richness of nature, of course we also had to experience the power of technology. We also went to the Guangxi Science and Technology Museum, another place that requires advance reservation but is free of charge. That's really friendly.

The Guangxi Science and Technology Museum has four floors of exhibition halls, mainly displaying aerospace knowledge, electrical systems, and so on. The content spans widely and is quite deep. Even middle and high school students would find it interesting. Someone like me, a older science idiot, was even more excited coming here.

Many times, I really envy people living in provincial capitals, because living here means having more places for leisure, entertainment, and relaxation.

After leaving the Science Museum, we went to a Luosifen (snail noodles) shop. This was our first meal of Luosifen, and the taste was really great. Actually, as long as you're in Guangxi, you don't have to deliberately go to Liuzhou to eat very delicious Luosifen.

The Luosifen shop had a lot of side dishes to choose from. We ordered three portions, which cost only 50 yuan in total. But the portions were generous, I thought it was very friendly.

That day, we went to Liuzhou early in the morning, and our first stop was the Longtan Park. There were too many tourists at Longtan Park; even taking the sightseeing car required queuing. Alternatively, you could rent an electric car inside the scenic area, for two people. The price was relatively expensive, 38 yuan for half an hour.

The park had beautiful scenery, very rich vegetation, and wide roads. This park is quite friendly to people with special needs because it has barrier-free passages.

There were also many amusement rides in the scenic area. Clearly, they were divided into different zones. Some rides could use a joint ticket, while others could not.

The park was very large. We walked for about an hour, and the scenery was truly beautiful. The water in the center of the lake was very clear, and the distant mountains were clearly visible.

In the park, we saw an especially beautiful bridge, and also a few small buildings. You can stay there a bit longer; the pavilions here are completely different from the architecture in Jiangsu and Zhejiang. Perhaps because we rarely visit the south, we found the architecture here more unique.

When we saw that super beautiful bridge, we were even more amazed. The white roof stood out strikingly against the blue sky and white clouds, and these buildings were perfectly reflected on the water surface.

After exploring the city, we went to Sanjiang County. Sanjiang County is a relatively less touristy place, but the scenery is great. Even during the May Day holiday, few people come here. Perhaps for this reason, it is quieter here, and even the lake surface seems more tranquil.
