"Amazing Liuzhou" Cultural Tourism Art Week Lands in Taiyuan, Shanxi
On November 13, the "Amazing Liuzhou" Cultural Tourism Art Week and 2023 "Winter Tour Guangxi, Amazing Liuzhou" cultural tourism promotion event was held in Taiyuan, Shanxi. Jointly hosted by the Guangxi Department of Culture and Tourism and the Liuzhou Municipal People's Government, and organized by the Liuzhou Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, the event offered a taste of Guangxi's winter charm.
At the promotion, Guangxi presented its finest winter tourism resources, spotlighting several curated travel routes such as the "Northern Guangxi Landscape Feast Tour," "Bagui Folk Customs Tour," and "City Wandering Check-in Tour." A series of nationwide traveler benefits were announced, including discounts on first admission tickets, accommodation, cultural entertainment, and self-driving tolls, along with a travel agency subsidy policy named "Charming Liuzhou: Thousands Come." Through an immersive "Amazing Liuzhou" experience, cultural performances like "Grand Song Welcoming Guests" and "Liuzhou Awaits You," and exhibitions of Liuzhou flavors, brilliant intangible cultural heritage, and creative cultural goods and fun interactions, the event introduced Shanxi visitors to Liuzhou's iconic tourism calling cards—"a flower, a river, a car, a bowl of noodles"—drawing many attendees to watch and participate. An industrial promotion segment also showcased Liuzhou's industrial strengths, investment potential, and business climate, fostering connections between Liuzhou's quality industrial resources and leading Shanxi enterprises.
That evening, the "Dreams in the Landscape, Guangxi's Drama" tour of Guangxi's finest stage productions graced the Shanxi Grand Theatre. The first to take the stage was the Guangxi ethnic music and visual spectacle "Bagui Grand Song," directed by renowned director Zhang Jigang and created and performed by the Liuzhou Art Theatre. Divided into chapters of labor and love, it vividly portrays the working lives and wedding customs of Guangxi's twelve indigenous ethnic groups through drum music, vocals, and dance—a captivating feast of ethnic song and dance. "Bagui Grand Song" has won the triple crown of recognition as one of China's "Top Ten Repertoires" for national stage arts, the Wenhua Award from the Ministry of Culture, and "Audience Favorite" at the 7th China Arts Festival. The production will be staged again on November 14.
Additionally, China's first musical about industrial aid, "To Youth," also directed by Zhang Jigang and performed by the Liuzhou Art Theatre, will run at the Shanxi Grand Theatre from November 16 to 17. Set against the backdrop of Shanghai workers supporting Liuzhou's industrial construction in the 1950s, it tells a moving story of ordinary laborers from Shanghai and Guangxi, the east and the west, Han and ethnic minorities joining hands and striving together. The musical carves a historical monument to Liuzhou's industrial glory and dreams, depicts vivid scenes of China's hard-fought industrial beginnings, and radiates deep patriotism, revolutionary legacy, and an inspiring spirit of dedication and progress.
The "Amazing Liuzhou" Cultural Art Week runs from November 13 to 17, aiming to promote the outstanding cultural brands "Guangxi Has Drama" and "Amazing Liuzhou," introduce Guangxi's unique winter cultural tourism resources, and boost regional economic and cultural tourism exchanges between Guangxi and Shanxi. Next, Liuzhou will take its cultural tourism and industry promotions to Hubei and other provinces, deepening cross-provincial cooperation and continuing to polish the "Amazing Liuzhou" name.
