National High-tech Zone Workers' Table Tennis Tournament Concludes in Glory: A Moment of Honor Etched by Service and Support
On the afternoon of November 19, after two competition days and over 120 intense matches, the 2024 National High-tech Zone Workers' Table Tennis Tournament, themed "Chinese Dream·Labor Beauty—Forge a United Heart, Follow the Party, Embark on a New Journey of Solidarity and Struggle," successfully concluded in Liuzhou, Guangxi. This marked the successful completion of the first national table tennis event for workers ever organized by the high-tech zone trade union system nationwide.
The closing ceremony was held at the Liuzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center. The award ceremony for the top eight teams kicked off the proceedings. The Team 1 of the Nanning High-tech Industrial Development Zone Trade Union Committee stood out with seamless teamwork and outstanding individual performances, clinching the championship. The Team 2 of the Hefei High-tech Industrial Development Zone Trade Union and the team from the Changsha High-tech Industrial Development Zone Trade Union took second and third place, respectively. Leaders from the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, its China Workers International Travel Service Head Office, the National High-tech Zone Trade Union Work Council, and the Liudong New District Management Committee attended the ceremony and presented trophies and certificates to the winning teams, amidst thunderous applause and an electric atmosphere.
Afterwards, awards for outstanding volunteers, supporting units, and excellent organization were presented, expressing heartfelt thanks and high recognition for the generous support and hard work contributed during the event’s preparation and execution. The volunteers worked tirelessly both on and off the court, ensuring the smooth running of the tournament with their enthusiasm and professionalism; the supporting units provided solid backing in terms of supplies, venues, and more; and the outstanding organization award winners meticulously organized their teams, adding rich variety to the competition.
In closing, a leader from the All-China Federation of Trade Unions delivered an important speech, fully affirming the tournament's positive role in promoting mass sports among workers. The event was a powerful step in implementing the National Workers Health Promotion Project to enhance workers' quality of life, and it holds great significance for strengthening nationwide fitness initiatives and improving workers’ physical well-being. Its success not only spurred the vigorous development of mass sports among workers and fully showcased the fresh spirit and hardworking ethos of industrial workers in the new era, but also greatly enhanced exchange and cooperation among high-tech zone trade unions—injecting strong momentum into the reform of industrial workforce building in the new period and helping to forge a high-caliber, politically sound, well-structured, and large-scale workforce.
As the event’s host, the Liudong New District (High-tech Zone) Trade Union of Liuzhou, Guangxi, stated that it would take this success as an opportunity to actively respond to the call of Healthy China and national fitness, and vigorously promote the follow-up work of the Liuzhou High-tech Zone Table Tennis Demonstration Center, which has been transformed from tournament venues and facilities. The aim is to provide workers with a better and more convenient sports environment and resources, guide them towards sensible exercise and scientific fitness, integrate exercise into daily life, and ensure the legacy of the tournament benefits all. Meanwhile, the trade union will continue to strengthen close cooperation with institutions such as the National Workers Health Promotion Project Office, constantly explore and innovate health and sports service models for workers, strive to improve regional workers’ health and fitness levels, and enhance their sense of happiness and fulfillment—contributing to the high-quality economic and social development of the region.
