Guangxi Travelogue: Shuanglonggou in Rongshui

On October 26, 2024, we had breakfast at the hotel at 7:00 a.m., checked out, and at 8:30 took bus No. 28 from the hotel entrance to Shuanglonggou Scenic Area. The fare was 4 yuan per person, and we arrived at 9:05. The entrance fee was 80 yuan, with half-price tickets for seniors over 70, including the sightseeing vehicle fare.

Shuanglonggou Scenic Area is located northwest of Rongshui county. It boasts a public welfare primeval forest of about 6,300 mu, with dense trees providing ample shade and ancient trees towering overhead. Several waterfalls cascade down, and the air is so fresh that it’s truly a natural oxygen bar. Two streams meander through the forest, their trickling waters disappearing and reappearing, like two dragons roaming in the woods—hence the name Shuanglonggou (Double Dragon Ditch).

Rongshui Shuanglonggou offers not only enchanting primeval forest views and waterfalls, but also a range of attractions such as a fairy-tale forest theater, a Magic Carpet ride, a glass bridge, a Sky City, a high-altitude zip-line, and a Jungle Mouse coaster. It’s perfect for family outings and trips with friends.

The Fairy-tale Theater features lively performances and exquisite costumes—you’d think the actors stepped right out of a storybook! There’s not just a Snow White stage play; more fairy tales are waiting to be discovered.

The Magic Carpet is a shortcut to the glass bridge. Ride it up and you’ll quickly reach the Sky City, high-altitude walkways, and the glass bridge at the mountaintop.

Sky City: climb up to the “Sky City” and you’ll not only enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the primeval forest, but also experience an exhilarating aerial adventure—come take the challenge.

Love Confession Bridge: this glass bridge is 199.9 meters long and 52.0 meters high. The numbers symbolize that if you boldly confess your love and dare to cross the long bridge of “I love you (520)”, your love will last forever.

High-altitude Zip-line: currently the longest zip-line in Guangxi at 528 meters. It takes just 50 seconds to zip down to the scenic area entrance.

Jungle Mouse: a downhill ride designed for the elderly and children, where you can control your own speed and zip through the jungle like a mouse.

Outside the entrance is another attraction: Mengwu Miao Village. The Rongshui Mengwu Miao Village scenic area not only stages the grand live performance “Miao Charm,” but during the Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays also hosts major events like horse fighting, rooster fighting, bonfire parties, and street parades. Lusheng (reed-pipe) music and horse fighting have long been beloved traditional activities of the various ethnic groups in Rongshui. People interact and connect through playing the lusheng and watching horse fights. In your free time, do come to Mengwu Miao Village—there’s food, drink, entertainment, ethnic performances, and a colorful, dazzling night scene.

The most beautiful part of the scenic area is probably the streamside boardwalk right after you enter. The clear water, drooping yellow leaves—though there are artificial touches making it look aged, the effect is lovely. With mist wafting over the water, it feels like a fairyland. However, the high-altitude attractions up on the mountain not only cost extra, but most require some courage to try. The scenery there also pales in comparison.

Around 12:30 p.m., we finished our visit to Shuanglonggou and took bus No. 28 back to the city. We got off at the train station intersection, had lunch, then walked to the station to catch the 3:30 p.m. train K9327 back to Liuzhou. We arrived at Liuzhou Railway Station at 5:30 p.m., exited, and took bus No. 33 to the hotel we had stayed at before, thus concluding our two-day excursion outside the city.
