Liuzhou Luosifen

Liuzhou – I’ll definitely come back! Thank you for rescuing the luosifen in my heart!

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive at Liuzhou Station at noon – bus ride to experience local vibes – hotel – rest until evening – Caomei Luosifen Shop – night view at Yaobu Ancient Town – night view at Panlong Park

Day 2: Sleep in, head out at noon – lunch at Qingyun Food Street (Kaiyun Baozi Shop, Qingyun Traditional Rice Noodle Rolls, Shuiyouduei, Crystal Steamed Dumplings, liang cha) – nearby Lu Jie Chao Bing – Liuzhou Industrial Museum – Longtan Park – Wanjialuo Braised Luosifen

Day 3: Xihuan Xionghua Luosifen – Saturday Fried Rice (stir-fried luosifen) – takeaway from Shanghai Hometown Chicken Main Store – return from Liuzhou Station

Key highlights!!!

Transport: Liuzhou isn’t big, most taxi rides cost just 10–20 yuan. Taxis are super convenient and plentiful.

Yaobu Ancient Town and Panlong Park at night are amazing! Perfect for an evening stroll to walk off your meal! Highly recommended!

Longtan Park: Even in the off-season there are lots of people, not great for crowd-free photos. The smart little electric carts in the scenic area are a riot – speed capped at 4–6 km/h! And listen up! They blabber incessantly and you can’t shut them up! If you dawdle, a loop easily costs over 100 yuan! If you have the energy, definitely walk and explore on foot!

Liuzhou Industrial Museum: An industrial-style photo paradise!

Food! Now the most crucial part – eating!

One note up front: If you’re from the north, choosing mild spice will be much friendlier!

Caomei Luosifen: Tucked inside a residential compound, the taste is super authentic! Their pig trotters are a must-try! Northerners, go for mild spice – very gentle!

Wanjialuo Braised Luosifen: I’d say this one is an absolute must! Order a regular bowl, but also try a bowl of dry-tossed (gan lao)! It’s insanely delicious! Just pick whatever braised items you fancy. This was the best luosifen I had in Liuzhou – the broth is spot on!

Xihuan Xionghua Luosifen: This place felt a bit more fast-food-ish, lots of takeout orders, the flavor doesn’t match the two above.

Saturday Fried Rice: Their stir-fried luosifen is genuinely impossible to stop eating! Highly recommended!

Shanghai Hometown Chicken Main Store: Honestly, it’s rather so-so, just ordinary fried chicken.

Qingyun Food Street: This street is a bit like a northeastern Chinese morning market – all kinds of snacks. The soup dumplings from Kaiyun Baozi Shop are tasty, worth a try. For other snack stalls, just follow your heart! A word of caution about liang cha: it’s basically mild-flavored Chinese herbal medicine!

Liuzhou’s luosifen is simply too wonderful; alas, you can’t take it home! I’ll definitely return for more someday!
