Beijing Kid-Friendly Guide! No Fear of Sun, Cold, or Sandstorms – Baoyan Amusement Park's Year-round Warm Water Fun!

After the bitter cold, Beijing's spring is here at last! But these unrelenting sand and dust storms are just maddening. Thank heavens for Baoyan Amusement Park, where the temperature is perfect all year round. No matter if it’s windy, rainy, or a full-blown sandstorm outside, you can have a blast inside for an entire day!

Located in Dahongmen on the South Fourth Ring Road, this is hands-down the biggest indoor children's playground in all of Beijing! It has three major themed zones—Castle Land, the Year-round Temperature-controlled Water Park, and the Cute Pet Science Hall. Each one is three to four times larger than similar attractions anywhere else. Truly, once you toss the kids in here, they’ll play from open to close without ever wanting to leave…

And the aesthetics here are absolutely top-tier. The whole park is decked out in soft, soothing macaron colors—never tiring on the eyes. Snap a casual photo anywhere and it comes out like a masterpiece. It feels like being inside a princess’s castle!

The water park has always been my little girl’s absolute favorite. Two reasons: the water stays around 37°C (99°F), and those thrilling mega slides! It’s a combo that’s really hard to replicate, and it’s why she keeps begging to come back every so often.

She’s loved playing in the water since she was tiny, and she’s a pretty good swimmer. We’ve taken her to plenty of water parks and swimming pools, but often the water is just too cold. She’d start shivering, her lips turning purple. Baoyan’s Water Park is truly awesome—both the water and the air temperature are just right. Even after hours of wild fun, her cheeks stay rosy. As a mom, I can finally relax!

Some other parks have indoor heated water areas, but they’re usually small with limited attractions. After a short while, my daughter would get bored. Baoyan’s Water Park is huge, with multiple pools of different depths, high-speed water slides, a swirling slide, a family splash zone, a toddler swim area, gentle slides, and a heated spa pool. It meets the needs of every age group, and even adults can have a whale of a time.

Maybe it’s a girl thing, but my daughter used to be a little scared of water slides. The design here is so thoughtful—kids can start on low, slow slides and gradually work up to more daring ones, building courage step by step. Now she’s conquered every single slide in the park and has grown noticeably braver. But her favorite is still that giant swirling slide in the high-speed zone—it’s fun and thrilling, and she queues up for it again and again, never getting tired.

The Water Park’s amenities are also top-notch. There’s a cute family lounge area, a shop selling all kinds of water gear, and even an emergency first-aid kit. The shower area is fully equipped with everything you need. In short, it’s incredibly considerate.

Baoyan’s Castle Land is so huge you could get lost inside. It has a sand area, an inflatable castle, a ball pit, a giant rainbow slide zone, a large Lego building area, a 5D/7D cinema, a reading-and-drawing zone, a baking kitchen zone, and more. It truly appeals to all ages—a whole day is barely enough!

Stepping into Castle Land, you’re immediately greeted by a dreamy, lovely carousel. Little princesses adore it, and even moms can join in on the princess fantasy.

Near the entrance, the Simulation Town offers role-playing experiences: kids can slip on uniforms and explore a simulated hospital, bank, supermarket, kitchen, post office, and fire station. This area is a huge hit with the younger children!

In the central area, there are several interactive parent-child activities. In the craft room you can make all sorts of fun knick-knacks, in the baking workshop the whole family can make pizzas and cookies together, and in the reading area you can quietly read with your child for a while.

The sand area and the inflatable castle are both incredibly popular. I have to give a special shout-out to the sand area: instead of real sand, they use pearly white, grain-like polyethylene beads that look like rice—safe, non-toxic, odorless, and they photograph beautifully!

The giant rainbow slide zone and the ocean ball play structure are ideal for older children. The rainbow slides are not only stunning but also super fun. The 90° vertical slide tests kids’ courage, and there’s even a bumpy mat slide where you can zoom down on a snow tube. Around the slides, the climbing structures resemble a maze, with dreamy woven nets criss-crossing in complex patterns, inviting children to explore on their own.

The pink, blue, and white ball pit is especially refreshing. With its slide, climbing frame, air blowers, and tossing games, it forms a magical little world where my daughter refused to leave.

Lego lovers simply must not miss the Block World here. There are loads of oversized blocks to build whatever you can imagine, even a little house. And I’m not just talking about the kids—moms and dads could happily spend a whole day here too.

The motion cinema is tucked away down a corridor and easy to miss, but it’s absolutely fantastic! The 5D “Flower Spirit Valley” makes you feel like you’re on a real roller coaster, dipping and swerving with water sprays—my daughter went three times and still wanted more. The 7D “Treasure Hunter” lets you experience the joy of a shooting game in a simulated scene, which boys especially love!

What kid can resist cute animals?

Right next to Baoyan Amusement Park’s entrance is the Cute Pet Science Hall. You don’t need to go to a zoo—indoors you can observe and interact with little creatures up close.

The Cute Pet Hall includes sections like the Twilight Trail, Birdsong Forest, Cave Exploration, and Enchanted Rainforest. It’s home to all kinds of quirky reptiles, proud peacocks fanning their tails, colorful tropical fish, utterly adorable chinchillas, chattering parrots…

Of course, the real stars are the cheeky alpacas and the gentle, sweet bunnies. You can buy carrots to feed them!

On the first floor of Baoyan Mall, a huge new toy factory has just opened. Kids who’ve had a full day of fun but still want more can pick up a souvenir here.

This toy factory hosts many brands—Hello Kitty for girls, toy cars and dinosaurs for boys, and even exquisite figurines that captivate adults. The Lego blocks are split into a boys’ section and a girls’ section, and you can even sit down and build something on the spot.

1. Baoyan Amusement Park is on the third floor of Baoyan Mall in Dahongmen. The first and second floors have everything you need. At the ticket gate, staff take each child’s temperature and clean their little hands with sanitizer. There are plenty of lockers near the entrance. To enter Castle Land, you must remove your shoes and store your coat. Lockers are ample and even stylishly designed!

2. Shoes are not allowed inside Castle Land. Wearing a pair of non-slip socks (also sold inside) is recommended for kids’ safety. The park is comfortably warm, and kids will quickly work up a sweat, so dress them in relatively light clothing. For the slide zone, long sleeves and long pants are required—this applies to the 90° slide as well. If you want your photos to look great, opt for soft-colored clothing. Girls can bring a tulle skirt or rent a princess dress inside the park.

3. In the Water Park, swimsuits and swim caps are mandatory. If you plan to try the water slides, bring your own goggles. You can also bring a swim ring or inflatable arm bands for your child. The Water Park’s shower facilities are well-equipped, with paid lockers, vanity tables, and hair dryers. Toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion are provided; bring your own towel and cosmetics. If you forget, don’t worry—there’s a children’s shop at the entrance where you can buy what you need.

4. The park has a gorgeous family restaurant mainly serving Western food, and the dishes are excellent. I highly recommend the Japanese-style curry beef rice—the generous chunks of beef are truly impressive! There are also several vending machines with drinks. If Western food isn’t your thing, you can eat in the mall: Chinese cuisine, seafood, ramen—the choices are rich.

5. The sanitary facilities are not only spotless but also exceptionally thoughtful: child-height sinks, children’s lotion, a kids’ urinal in the women’s restroom, and private nursing rooms with sofas. It’s the details that define quality, and Baoyan Amusement Park gets them just right.

6. Address: 3rd Floor, Baoyan Mall, No. 7 Building, Jimei Home, Jia No. 14, Ximachang, Majiabao East Road, Fengtai District.

7. Transportation: Navigate directly to Baoyan Amusement Park, or take Subway Line 10 and transfer to a bus, or walk from the station. There is a huge parking lot right in front of Baoyan Mall, making parking very easy—just get a ticket at the front desk for free parking!

8. Tickets and opening hours: Baoyan Amusement Park is incredibly popular, and weekends get extremely crowded. I strongly suggest parents visit during off-peak times; weekdays not only have fewer people but also cheaper tickets, giving a much better experience. For your child’s happiness, it’s worth taking a day off!
