Where to Escape the Summer Heat? Miyun Meigui Qingyuan Is the Top Choice

The Minor Heat solar term is here, and the dog days of summer are just around the corner. Hot, hot, hot—don’t feel like going anywhere? That’s only because you haven’t found the right destination. Red Leaf Brother recommends heading to the outskirts to cool off, and Miyun’s Meigui Qingyuan (Rose Love Garden) is a fantastic summer retreat. Built into the hillside, Miyun Caijiawa Meigui Qingyuan unfolds in terraced levels, offering a unique visual experience. More importantly, the temperature here is four to five degrees cooler than in the city center—while the city swelters, this place stays refreshingly cool, perfect for a summer escape.

The garden covers over a thousand acres, making it Beijing’s first multi-functional theme park combining leisure sightseeing, product exhibitions, agricultural science education, and hiking and cycling trails. Different months bring different blooms; climb up and take in the sweeping flower sea—a beautiful, romantic picture of countryside life unfolds before your eyes.

The park is laid out around four themed zones: getting to know each other, growing close, falling in love, and staying together. Stargaze at night, gaze at blue skies by day, and breathe in the fresh air—it’s a truly relaxing feeling. From the observation deck, you can overlook the whole of Caijiawa village and the lovely scenery of Miyun town. On days with good visibility, you can even spot Huairou town in the distance.

When it comes to fun, there’s plenty to do here. A rainbow slide, mountain karts, a shouting fountain, an Instagram-famous mini train, and boat rides on the lake to take in the surrounding views. Kids will love the popular children’s playground and giant swings, and as a science and study base, children can learn about water, soil, flowers, and much more—playing and learning at the same time. Doesn’t that sound great?

The nightscape deserves a special mention. Meigui Qingyuan is one of the few night-view parks in China, with colorful peacocks, glowing mushrooms, a magical forest, twinkling robots, and illuminated roses… Its night scenery is a stunning surprise in Miyun’s evenings—look up at the starry sky, see the green hills, and smell the fragrance of flowers. Neon lights shimmer, creating a dazzling, enchanting atmosphere. Lift your head and gaze at the stars—yes, it’s a real, true starry sky~ At night, Meigui Qingyuan is even more alluring than during the day! On Friday and Saturday nights, there are also performances—songs, acrobatics, face-changing, you name it—and you can interact with the performers up close.

For food and lodging, I recommend staying in the swaying wooden cabins, which have a cool, techy vibe. The park’s own Mountain Bar restaurant has completely upgraded its menu, offering Caijiawa tofu banquets, farmhouse-style country feasts, and customizable set meals just as you like.

If you’re still looking for a destination, Meigui Qingyuan should definitely be on your list. Whether you’re traveling with a partner or bringing the whole family, a vacation here is incredibly comfortable, with dining, lodging, and entertainment all in one place. Even better, you’re guaranteed to have a blast.

Driving directions: Navigate to Meigui Qingyuan Parking Lot. Take the Jingcheng Expressway to Exit 17 (Misan Road Exit), turn left, and after 500 meters you’ll reach Caijiawa Village. Follow the scenic road through the village, and you’ll arrive at Caijiawa Meigui Qingyuan.
