Three years of the pandemic forced countless travel plans to be shelved and forgotten. Now that epidemic controls are being steadily relaxed, we can finally boldly step out into the world and head to the travel havens of our dreams! So, here comes a 'highly recommended' list of six must-visit destinations—with natural landscapes, cultural sanctuaries, and bustling street life—along with detailed travel guides. Save them now!

Nature's Masterpiece: Dali, Yunnan

After being cooped up for three long years, even an ordinary sunset tempted me to reach for my phone to capture a few shots, just to soothe the heart. When the thought of traveling within China popped into my head, the first place that came to mind was Dali. Blue skies, white clouds, green trees, red blossoms, gentle breezes, warm sunshine, majestic mountains, and vast lakes—who could resist such natural beauty? Plus, the hit TV series 'Meet Yourself' has also popularized Dali, showcasing its gorgeous scenery and making a trip here feel like a dream. In Dali, it's best not to join a tour group; a quick, superficial itinerary won't let you and Dali spark any magical chemistry. Driving yourself or renting a vehicle after arriving is a much better option. You'll have complete freedom, and by following the route below, you can perfectly experience Dali's charm.

The recommended travel route in Dali is centered around Erhai Lake and can be roughly divided into two lines: the east and west shores. The east line mainly covers Shuanglang Ancient Town—Luwoshan Site—Little Putuo Island—East Coast Reefs—East Coast Highway, with seascapes as the focus. The west line mainly covers the Cangshan Scenic Area—Dali Ancient Town—Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple—Xizhou Ancient Town—Zhoucheng Tie-Dye Village—Butterfly Spring, highlighting pastoral and ancient town scenery. Along the way, you'll pass Xingsheng Bridge, where you can effortlessly snap European-style photos without leaving the country. Whichever route you choose, the breathtaking beauty of Cangshan and Erhai will always be in sight, touching your heart.

But my favorite is still strolling along the West Ring Road, with Erhai Lake on the left and rice paddies on the right. It's lazy and comfortable, yet everywhere reveals a unique charm and vitality condensed from history, culture, and local customs. Take Dali Ancient Town, for instance. Stand atop its South Gate to overlook half of Dali's beauty and the vast Erhai Lake, or ascend Wuhua Tower to gaze at Cangshan and the ancient town below, effortlessly framing boundless views. Wander through the town, try a unique flower cake, savoring the fragrant petals blended into the crispy pastry, or buy a baked milk fan (a local dairy delicacy) to enjoy a soft and chewy treat like cheese. You might even have a wild mushroom hotpot that's all the rage online with your travel companions. The array of delicacies makes the trip worthwhile.

The scenery that looks like it has an oil painting filter, the leisurely yet lively atmosphere, and the delicious local cuisines together sketch the idyllic life that everyone yearns for, making the trip deeply satisfying.

Exploring mountains and waters can be tiring, so when roaming Dali, where you stay really affects the quality of your trip. That's why I recommend Lavande Hotel·Dali Erhai Seaview. Located near the southern tip of Erhai Lake, you'll feel Dali's gentle charm the moment you check in. Staying here feels like coming home; the tasteful elegance of the design soothes both body and mind. Falling asleep with a starry sky above and the sound of the lake in your ears subtly amplifies the joy of your journey.

Notably, the hotel cleverly integrates lavender elements and fragrance culture, making your stay natural and carefree. It lets you calmly switch to a laid-back mode, striking a wonderful balance with nature.

Majestic Mountains: Chengdu, Sichuan

Head northeast from Dali, and you'll reach Chengdu. This city is also brimming with natural elements. If you haven't had your fill in Dali, then come along and have a great time in Chengdu too.

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Kuanzhai Alley, Xiling Snow Mountain... this is the adorable and fun Chengdu. Pot chicken (boboji), rabbit head, dan dan noodles, chuan chuan (skewers)... this is the spicy side of Chengdu.

Unlike the arrangement in Dali, driving is not advisable in Chengdu. The city attracts many tourists, but most scenic spots have scarce and expensive parking. Driving is not a cost-effective choice. The metro, scenic area shuttle buses, public buses, and shared bikes should all be on your list of commuting options. Choose according to the actual situation.

Chengdu is not just about ancient cultural charm and spicy snacks; it's also full of relatively offbeat but stunning natural landscapes. If you want a lively yet scenic experience, the Giant Panda Breeding Base is an excellent choice. Known as 'a natural paradise for national treasures and our own utopia,' it features dark green mountains, mirror-like waters, rustling forests, and birdsong. With such beautiful scenery and adorable pandas, you'd regret not visiting this spot.

But if you want to avoid crowds and enjoy a secret natural paradise, I suggest a visit to Gaomiao Ancient Town. This hidden gem, nestled deep in the mountains and passing through narrow ancient streets, feels like a corner from a Miyazaki world brought to life. Because the town hasn't been commercially developed, it has few tourists, offering a clear, primitive, and quaint beauty. Misty rain shrouding the landscape, vermilion buildings, the quiet clash of red and green creates a uniquely free and easy travel experience.

Besides the more remote Gaomiao, Liujiang Ancient Town is also a wonderful place. Blue skies, white clouds, green hills, and clear waters – standing on stone steps in the water to take a photo instantly creates a mood of misty rain. Ancient banyan trees planted along the river and the waterside market streets form a landscape painting, fully revealing the town's timeworn charm. Stroll through the town at a leisurely pace to savor its unique allure and experience the rhythm of slow living.

To enjoy green hills and clear waters, and to see birds and flowers, Huanhuaxi Park and Shuangliu Tanghu Park are the perfect spots. Huanhuaxi Park is designed primarily with natural landscapes, comprising three major areas: Wanshu Mountain, Canglang Lake, and Bailu Islet. Bamboo groves, lake waters, and egrets – stepping on bluestone paths, listening to birdsong, every step reveals a picture. Shuangliu Tanghu Park offers a different charm: a classic Chinese garden style with large plantain leaves and crabapple blossoms filling the park with natural beauty and ancient appeal. Wearing Hanfu, you'll feel like you've traveled back in time. Come here to feel Chengdu's serene comfort, savor the reality beyond the bustling city, and under the shade of trees, watch flowers bloom and listen to birds chirp.

A place that feels like home after a day of exploring – to soothe the fatigue of covering so much ground, I choose Lavande Hotel·Chengdu Shuangliu Airport for my stay. The hotel is adjacent to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, only 500 meters from Chengdu Metro Line 3, and a stone's throw from Times Outlets International Shopping Plaza and the national 4A scenic area Huanglongxi. Its convenient location is a major plus, always attracting travelers shuttling between nature and the bustling city to enjoy peace and comfort.

At the same time, the guest rooms feature simple designs and cozy furnishings to soothe your tired body and mind. Before and after rest, the breakfast room, lounge bar, and gym are all great places to unwind. You've come all the way to Chengdu, Sichuan – why not stay at Lavande and give this mind-body spa trip an extra boost?

Historic Jinling: Nanjing, Jiangsu

Winter wonders, photogenic spots, cultural haven – this is Nanjing, Jiangsu.

How to deeply experience Nanjing's charm in a single day? Head to Niushou Mountain Cultural Tourism Zone and start your energy-boosting journey with its beautiful scenery. As a 4A-rated scenic area, Niushou Mountain offers not only enchanting views but also profound historical heritage. Niushou Mountain, also known as Tianque Mountain, is named for its twin peaks resembling an ox's horns. 'One Niushou Mountain, half of Nanjing's history.' The area features ancient Jinling beauty spots like Niushou Mist and Zutang's Miracle, along with many historical relics such as Yue Fei's Ancient Fortress Against Jin and Zheng He Cultural Park. Among them, the Usnisa Palace is themed around enshrining the Buddha's cranial bone relic, divided into a large dome and a small dome, symbolizing external and internal offerings. Its architecture is breathtaking. The palace was built using an existing mine pit, with six underground floors and three above ground, exuding great dignity. In recent years, the Buddha's cranial bone relic has been enshrined long-term at Niushou Mountain. We can visit the Usnisa Palace on special Buddhist holidays to pay homage, but for the exact times, it's best to call the scenic area to inquire.

In addition, Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum is a place that relaxes the mind while offering rich cultural depth and travel interest. It is the tomb of the Hongwu Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang and Empress Ma. The mausoleum is grand and magnificent, representing the architectural and stone carving achievements of the early Ming Dynasty and directly influencing the layout of imperial tombs in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Here, elegant scenery and historical culture can be absorbed through all senses, surpassing what books can offer.

The day's journey naturally should end in the most spectacular way. Nanjing is not only about history and scenery. Today, 'cruising the Qinhuai River on a painted boat' has become a must-do for visitors. In the evening, take a boat ride on the Qinhuai River. Not only will you get a guided commentary throughout the trip, but you'll also feast your eyes on over forty spots, including former residences of celebrities, historical sites, bridges, famous Jiangnan gardens, and Qinhuai lantern displays. Learn about historical anecdotes and stories. Ancient buildings, painted boats, and splendid lanterns – the bustling city reflects on the flowing water, and the moonlight takes on a touch of enchantment.

By day, visit Niushou Mountain Cultural Tourism Zone and Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum to enjoy their beautiful scenery and historical sites, feeling the wonder of time intertwining past and present. By night, cruise the Qinhuai River on a painted boat, admiring the ancient white-walled, black-tiled buildings on both banks and the enchanting light displays, experiencing the depth and delicacy described in Zhu Ziqing's essay 'The Qinhuai River in the Sound of Oars and Shadows of Light'.

As for accommodation, I recommend Lavande Hotel·Nanjing South Railway Station Jiulonghu Metro Station. The hotel is marked by the natural lavender fragrance and incorporates 'a little more ease' into every detail, creating a warm and comfortable stay. Its smart room designs and high-speed internet access give you an edge while also providing a high-quality experience.

Near the hotel, you'll find supermarkets, banks, dining, and entertainment venues all available. Without much effort, you can easily sample classic delicacies like Nanjing soup dumplings, Nanjing dry-braised bean curd strips, and Nanjing beef potstickers. In short, staying at Lavande lets you instantly savor an elegant and carefree journey.

Imperial Splendor: Beijing

As the capital, a world-famous ancient city, and a modern international metropolis, the blending of history and modernity is Beijing's most prominent travel feature. It boasts the ancient charm of the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, and Temple of Heaven; the lively energy of Beijing Wildlife Park and Wangfujing; and the modern tech vibe of the Bird's Nest and Ice Cube.

In the morning, the weather carries a bit of chill that makes you shiver. That's the best time to head to the Badaling Great Wall. After some physical exertion, you'll warm up both your body and your travel spirit. 'He who has not climbed the Great Wall is not a true man.' Beijing's Badaling Great Wall is known as one of the nine famous passes in the world, combining grandeur, peril, beauty, and lush greenery, representing the finest scenery of the Ming Great Wall. Walking on the steps of the Wall and gazing into the distance, your heart swells with heroic pride.

Beijing has many other popular attractions, such as the Summer Palace, the Palace Museum, and the Temple of Heaven. These sites are more like cultural heritage landmarks. The vermilion palace walls, the towering green trees, the nameless vines creeping along the walls, the glazed tiles shimmering in the light, and the exhibits in each hall—every detail exudes the scent of history. The past seems right before your eyes, yet everything has changed. Standing within these imposing, orderly walls and deep courtyards, you can tangibly feel their former glory. The long history has left behind a wealth of precious architecture and countless cultural relics, which are the main highlights of visiting the Forbidden City and other ancient structures.

Evenings in Beijing are extremely lively, especially at Wangfujing. Located east of the Forbidden City with convenient transportation, Wangfujing gathers numerous large-scale shopping malls, a snack street with delicacies from all over, and the historic Wangfujing Catholic Church. It's a longstanding shopping paradise and a popular spot for shopping and dining. Malls like Oriental Plaza, APM, Yintai, and Beijing Department Store are home to many international and domestic brand stores and restaurants, making shopping and dining very convenient. There are also century-old stores like Ruifuxiang, Neiliansheng, and Shengxifu, offering a strong sense of historical charm.

On the street, you'll find old Beijing flavors like fried liver, quick-fried tripe, tofu pudding, and candied hawthorn sticks; Tianjin's Goubuli buns; northwestern lamb offal soup; and even 'adventurous' eats like fried scorpions and insects. Moving through the crowds, following the aromas to find food, hearing the vendors' calls from nearby, the scent of food wafts in the air and your heart races with excitement.

A trip to Beijing is exciting but also requires a lot of moving around. To maintain ample energy during your days, a comfortable hotel is essential. I recommend Lavande Hotel·Beijing International Information Industry Base. With a prime location and convenient transport, the hotel is only 1.6 km from Zhuxinzhuang subway station, a half-hour drive from the Ming Tombs Scenic Area, and just 25 minutes by car to the Bird's Nest and Water Cube. Within 2 km, you'll also find AEON International Shopping Mall, Zhujiang Moore Fashion Valley, and Baipin Shang Shopping Center, where all your dining and shopping needs are easily met. Choosing this hotel is like having a green eco-garden with its elegant and pleasant surroundings. The thoughtfully designed rooms, with human-centric spatial planning and design, create a safe, convenient, hygienic, comfortable, and relaxed resting environment. This kind of attentive 'friend-like service and business travel experience' recharges your journey.

The Bustling Vibe of Lingnan: Zhongshan, Guangdong

The fifth recommended destination, Zhongshan, is located in the south-central Pearl River Delta, bordering Guangzhou to the north and adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao. It is destined to be a vibrant city brimming with life.

On the first day, wake up naturally and start your Zhongshan journey in the laziest and most carefree way. The first stop is best at Zhan Garden, using its small and charming garden to shake off drowsiness and unlock your vitality. Zhan Garden, also known as Zhongshan Grand Mansion, is currently the largest classical private garden in the Lingnan region. Its architecture is based on Suzhou-Hangzhou garden styles, combined with the layout of Lingnan water towns, integrating natural scenery such as Huzhou Mountain and Beixi River with the garden structures to form a unity of man and nature, concise yet dignified, simple yet free-spirited. Every brick, tile, door, and window bears the traces of history. 'One mountain, one water, one garden; poetic, picturesque, and leisurely.' The scenery of Zhan Garden is like a painting, and you can snap stunning photos with ease. It's not just a garden; it's a work of art.

Zhongshan is the hometown of the great man Dr. Sun Yat-sen, with profound historical and cultural heritage; it was also at the forefront of reform and opening up. The fusion of history and modernity is the charm of this city. Zhongshan Movie and TV City combines tourism, patriotic education, and film shooting. Following the revolutionary footsteps of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, it features five sections: China, Japan, the UK, the USA, and an exhibition hall. Strolling through these areas, you can deeply understand Dr. Sun Yat-sen's magnificent revolutionary career and feel the rich historical and cultural connotations.

Moreover, the Movie and TV City is a well-known film base with southern Chinese characteristics. Its four major scenic areas showcase the best of Chinese and Western architectural art. There are old Guangzhou street markets and local life; recreations of New York's urban features, American western town streets, and the famous Chinatown; and quaint British-style buildings that reflect various architectural styles like Western, European, and religious. Raising your camera, you can easily capture diverse cultural scenes, where history, art, and culture converge.

In the evening, you might head to Zhongshan Quanyan Hot Spring for a relaxing soak. Known as a 'private hot spring in the bustling city,' it offers areas for children, traditional Chinese medicine pools, moisturizing pools, and special fish therapy, catering to all ages. Services like massage, ear cleaning, foot massage, and sauna are all available. A day's fatigue vanishes as the steam rises.

For accommodation, I still choose Lavande. Lavande Hotel·Zhongshan Xiaolan Light Rail Station is not only convenient for transport but also close to attractions like Xiaolan Chrysanthemum Garden and Jiangbin Park, making you want to extend your stay.

The hotel's overall design is refined and simple, yet exudes elegance and nature everywhere. The 300-square-meter lobby with 8-meter-high ceilings is stylish, elegant, spacious, and bright. Checking in here instantly gives you a relaxed and free feeling. The guest rooms are gracefully simple, ensuring a quality sleep. In your free time, enjoy a good cup of tea and a good book in the book bar or public lounge, or work up a sweat in the gym. No matter where you are, you can fully enjoy leisurely and comfortable moments.

Romance of Min: Xiamen, Fujian

Xiamen is a dreamy and romantic city. You can take the Zhonggu Cable Car and overlook the scenery, taking in the views of Gulangyu Island; visit Xiamen Fangte Dreamland, a high-tech cultural theme park; or ride the Tidal Eye Ferris Wheel to mark sunrise and sunset, with its 13-minute-14-second ride symbolizing eternal love...

Actually, you don't need a detailed plan for traveling in Xiamen; just follow your casual footsteps. Life in Xiamen is this carefree and easy. Known to locals, Wuyuan Bay Beach is located next to Wuyuan Bay Wetland Park, where you can quietly enjoy time without jostling with crowds. On days when it's not cold, bring a deck chair, leisurely feel the sea breeze, and enjoy the seamless dynamic seascape of blue skies and white clouds. When the mood strikes, capture some seaside sunset photos. A slow pace can also have a refined lifestyle.

In Xiamen, a must-visit for food is the Eighth Market – a place brimming with local life. Fun, a dazzling array of delicacies, and high cost-performance... Eighth Market is undoubtedly a foodie traveler's paradise! Taro duck, seaweed spring rolls, hand-shredded chicken, manjian cake, and more offer plenty of southern Fujian flavors. Here, your taste buds will be fully satisfied while you deeply experience the lively atmosphere of Xiamen.

Riyuegu Hot Spring is one of the more famous hot springs in Xiamen. If you want to relax in Xiamen, definitely consider this place. It has a strong Southeast Asian ambiance, beautiful surroundings, ample space, a full variety of pools, and very clean water. There are white wine springs, red wine springs, milk springs, coconut springs, ginseng springs, angelica springs, rose springs, mist springs, and more, plus deep and shallow swimming pools, with fish therapy and sand therapy available. Slow down time here and just enjoy the nourishment of body and mind, trading one expense for multiple pleasures of freedom.

Long journeys and constant travel between sights can leave you exhausted. Choosing a comfortable hotel not only keeps you fully energized but also makes your stay cozy and reassuring. Lavande Hotel·Xiamen Airport Wuyuan Bay Metro Station features lavender elements and fragrance culture, upholding the brand's unique value proposition—natural and at ease. It is committed to using natural elements to create a pleasant atmosphere, providing a casual and comfortable living space for every traveler yearning for a free life. The warm designs everywhere bring the romance of lavender to the extreme.

The shape of travel is ever-changing. Set off, find a tranquil beauty in these six cities, and freely unleash your pent-up passion. Wishing you a pleasant journey and good luck in the Year of the Rabbit!
