"If I were a flower, for whom would I bloom? If I were a bird, where would I fly? A star's twinkle alone cannot form a constellation; the sum of a big tree is a gathering of single weights." Lately, I've been looping this song "The Sum of Loneliness." Perhaps we are all sums of loneliness, and that's why we come together!

The Wide and Narrow Alleys, embodying the charm of old Chengdu

If you come to Chengdu, you must not miss this attraction—Kuanzhai Alley.

Though called Wide and Narrow Alley, it actually consists of Jing Alley, Wide Alley, and Narrow Alley. Here, you can experience the local life of this city.

Kuanzhai Alley has always been a portrayal of leisurely and comfortable life. Some say Kuanzhai Alley is like Beijing's Nanluoguxiang. In my view, Nanluoguxiang is ancient and traditional, while Kuanzhai Alley is leisurely and relaxed. However, they both share one common feature: plenty of specialty snacks. The local famous foods here will surely satisfy your appetite!

Because Kuanzhai Alley retains so much of old Chengdu culture, when you stroll through it, you'll see a blend of history and modern fashion, yet you'll find it not disharmonious but rather a奇妙 feeling. The rows of walls built with bricks from different eras, and those relief-like paintings of old street life, make this Chengdu afternoon leisurely and beautiful.

When visiting Kuanzhai Alley, don't say you're just here for the scenery. If you don't eat something, you might be embarrassed to say you've been here. There are many Chengdu snacks here, perfect for feasting. I love all kinds of wontons—sweet, salty, numbing, spicy—super delicious and very affordable. Old Ma's Rabbit Head, rabbit丁, roadside skewers, guokui (stuffed flatbread), Zhong's Dumplings, and boboji (poached chicken in chili oil) are all good. I also recommend a place here for sweet noodles, which suit my taste, tasty and inexpensive.

Wandering in Kuanzhai Alley, feeling its charm, you'll discover you can slowly enjoy a peace not found in everyday life. Sip a cup of tea while eating Chengdu's specialty snacks—that's truly a kind of enjoyment.

Jiaoliao Hotel—Jiaoliao's New Nest, Memories of Kuanzhai; Rongcheng's Blossoms Await Your Picking

In ancient times, there was "Jiaoliao nests in deep forests"; today, there is "Jiaoliao nests in Kuanzhai." Speaking of Kuanzhai Alley, this is a bustling area of Rongcheng. From ancient times to the present, high officials and nobles have settled here, and even ordinary folks often wander around.

Now, tourists and pedestrians come in an endless stream. From afar, you can smell the aroma of snacks drifting from every corner of the alley, and hear the voices of vendors hawking their goods in varied tones.

Jiaoliao Boutique Hotel, a tranquil spot amidst the hustle, perches delicately and unobtrusively in the Kuanzhai Alley scenic area at No. 28 Kuan Alley. The hotel is near Metro Line 4, about 19 kilometers from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (about 40 minutes by car). Surrounding attractions include Kuanzhai Alley, Jinli, Tianfu Square, Chunxi Road, and more.

If you want both a peaceful vacation and the city's bustling excitement, Jiaoliao Boutique Hotel is the perfect choice.

Before coming, we had already learned the origin of the hotel's name. It is said that "Jiaoliao" is a bird, derived from Zhuangzi's phrase: "Jiaoliao nests in deep forests, but only needs one branch." It implies a poetic dwelling that abandons worldly troubles, guards the original heart, returns to nature, and achieves freedom and ease—a philosophy of life that retreats from the noise.

This time, Jiaoliao does not nest in deep forests but chooses an alley full of human warmth, sitting by a busy street, opening a sanctuary in the urban jungle for travelers from afar.

Amid the noisy crowd, we pushed open the ancient, heavy door. The first thing to catch our eyes was the main gate, with screens on both sides carved with hollow patterns, including bat motifs symbolizing good fortune and happiness. Two bats at the diagonal corners, with water wave patterns above, imply blessings as vast as the eastern sea. The bat on the central axis represents blessings descending from heaven. Together with the middle one, they form the five blessings arriving at the door. We hope all honored guests here enjoy longevity, a good end, wealth, health, and virtue.

Passing through the courtyard and entering the corridor, we saw bamboo, tiles, running water, and rocks, giving a sense of primitive elegance, as if entering a parallel space separate from the worldly bustle, separated only by a wall from the outside splendor. My companion was like a child, exclaiming how beautiful it was and taking photos nonstop, overjoyed.

Entering the lobby, we observed that the hotel's decoration style is full of the characteristics and elegance of Western Sichuan folk houses. The ancient and simple imitation Qing dynasty buildings are a dynamic and static combination, revealing the essence of landscapes in every inch. The owner seems to have put great effort into such exquisite decoration—no wonder it's so popular.

As we passed through the hallway, the parrots hanging on both sides became unusually active due to our arrival, chirping incessantly. My friend was amused; it seemed the birds were welcoming us to stay!

The hotel's green bricks and black tiles are interwoven with the birds' chirps—one dynamic, one static—complementing the design style and reflecting each other. This dynamic and static are fully embodied.

The "dynamic" aspect is seen in the meticulous details of the hotel's decoration, with bird-shaped ornaments echoing the hotel's name everywhere.

The "static" aspect is found in the imitation Qing dynasty courtyard of green-black bricks and tiles. Every plant and tree is delicate; every bamboo and stone is elegant, establishing a quiet, leisurely lifestyle. Riding on things with a wandering heart, one feels free and easy.

Crossing the corridor, we arrived at the accommodation area. Entering the guest room, we found that all materials used are natural, solid raw wood. The room also features Shu embroidery (one of the four famous embroideries) and a duiwo (a traditional rice pounding tool), fully interpreting the original meaning of returning to simplicity.

Upon closer inspection, we noticed that the room's hardware facilities are also impressive—whether it's the bathroom fixtures, smart toilets, or mattresses, all are configured according to top international five-star hotel standards. Understated luxury exudes a high-end vibe, far surpassing other hotels. How could we not be tempted?

Inheriting Lao-Zhuang culture and creating high-end facilities, not following the vulgar nor abandoning the world. Jiaoliao Hotel helps you find the perfect balance between bustling excitement and tranquil serenity, allowing you to enjoy both the peace beyond the world and the convenience of urban life—all for your unique experience.

Panda Base—Discover the Joy of Pandas

Speaking of Sichuan, you can't forget the place where giant pandas live: the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Many people love pandas' adorable and clumsy appearance. In the past, I could only see pandas online. When browsing pictures, I found them soft, cute, and charming. This time, visiting the base, I was especially excited to see real pandas—after all, they are our national treasure. "Being cute for the country" is truly the pandas' real strength.

At this base, you'll see many giant pandas, a completely different experience from browsing pictures online!

The panda cubs enjoy national treasure-level treatment here. The environment is a complete simulation of pandas' wild habitat.

There are lakes, streams, and of course, pandas' favorite food—bamboo!

Most notably, there are also "panda villas" built for them, where they spend their daily leisure. When the weather is cool, panda cubs play here—some stroll leisurely in the yard, others roll on the ground—a truly carefree scene!

Visitors can watch the adorable pandas from behind the railing. When it's hot, pandas cleverly hide in the air-conditioned rooms, so visitors can only watch them sleeping soundly through the glass.

In short, when in Sichuan, you must check in at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. The pandas here are in a variety of poses; everything you want to see is here.

The national treasure pandas are really cute—clumsy, adorable, free, and happy. Suddenly, I found myself envying these pandas. Perhaps I'm not the only one thinking this!

Childlike Joy in Snowy White—Taiziling Ski Resort

When it comes to enjoying snow in winter, people in Chengdu usually think of Xiling Snow Mountain, etc. Actually, there is a more beautiful place waiting to be visited: Taiziling Ski Resort on Jiuding Mountain.

Taiziling Ski Resort is located in the Jiuding Mountain Scenic Area in Mao County, Aba Prefecture, known as "China's Ancient Qiang City." It's 180 kilometers from downtown Chengdu, only about three and a half hours by car, making it a professional ski resort at the doorstep of Chengdu residents.

In winter, Jiuding Mountain is covered in silver and white snow, welcoming a four-month sunshine ski season. Taiziling Ski Resort boasts the longest intermediate-advanced international standard commercial ski runs in western China, strictly divided from beginner to expert levels, with a full set of imported new ski equipment.

The resort can accommodate 5,000 skiers simultaneously, with professional ski coaches providing guidance to meet the needs of enthusiasts of different levels. The resort also offers free beginner group lessons at various times, allowing visitors to quickly learn basic skiing moves and experience the joy of skiing.

In addition to adult activities, the resort has a special area for children. In the snow play area, kids slide down from heights on sleds with their families, filling the scene with laughter.

As a top ice-snow resort in Southwest China, Taiziling Ski Resort is also equipped with leisure facilities like the Hemingzhuang Holiday Hotel and Hemingzhuang Holiday View Restaurant. With the convenience of a three-and-a-half-hour drive from Chengdu directly to the ski hall, it offers a new winter outdoor activity spot for Chengdu and nearby tourists.

Taiziling Ski Resort's runs are divided by slope gradient into three beginner, three intermediate, and three advanced runs. Each run has a gentle slope, giving beginners a sense of safety. The three intermediate runs are the domain of bold beginners and most casual players, perfect for having fun.

Parents bringing kids need not worry; there are also child-friendly snow play runs with very gentle slopes, ensuring safety and fun. Snowball fights, snowman building, and sledding—everything is available, allowing you to experience childhood innocence and lost joy.

If you drive here, you're in luck. On the way back at night, passing through Wenchuan, you can enjoy the night scenery of Wenchuan.

The neon lights are brilliant and magnificent, giving a sense of peace and comfort. Only by skiing yourself can you know how fascinating it is—once you try, you'll be addicted!

When you step into that pure white world, experiencing the purity and grandeur of the wilderness amidst the thrilling sport, listening to the wind whistling in your ears as you glide at high speed, the snowy world lies beneath your feet.

Let You Taste the Flavor of Home—Yuan Gong

A must-try Chengdu Sichuan cuisine spot: Yuan Gong. Recommended by a friend, this restaurant serves authentic salt-boss cuisine with genuine flavors, allowing homesick locals to taste the taste of home.

Specific location: No. 87, Xue Dao Street, Unit 1. South entrance of Chunxi Road, cross the overpass toward Xinhua Bookstore, about ten minutes on foot. It's also not far from Qingshiqiao Seafood Market, about a five-minute walk.

Before entering, we saw their sign from afar. The storefront isn't huge, but it has an antique charm, with a strong Chinese style. It feels like a mid-to-high-end establishment. The interior hall is spacious and not cramped. The environment is definitely excellent.

The service staff are very friendly; everyone greets you with welcome words upon entry. The host at the door leads you in, then the interior staff takes over.

They seem quite attentive.

The speed of serving dishes is fast; shortly after ordering, the dishes came one after another.

Highly recommended: the old duck soup. The flavor is very fresh, the broth rich and delicious. The soup base is incredibly fresh; one sip makes you feel refreshed. The duck meat is stewed very tender, not dry at all—very nourishing and healthy.

The "Gate-Hanging Meat" (Longmen Diao Rou) is truly unique. When the server cuts it, they say: "First cut brings good luck, second cut promotes step-by-step promotion, third cut brings happiness and fulfillment." It tastes like crispy pork, very crunchy.

If I had to pick the most impressive dish, it would be the "Naked Shrimp" (Luoben Xia). The shrimp is prepped, fresh, and deveined, giving diners peace of mind. The best part is that it also contains taro—delicious, tender, and flavorful, with an amazing texture.

Yuan Gong's Clam and Bullfrog (Huajia Mei Wa) is visually stunning, like a nebula chain. The taste is great; this combination of bullfrog and clam was a first for me—novel and tasty.

"Soused Ginger Leaping Frog" (Zijiang Tiaoshui Wa) has tender meat and a pure flavor. It looks very spicy, but it's actually mild. The frog meat is tender, making your taste buds dance. Good, good!

The dishes are really delicious and generous in portion, making it a great place for gatherings and entertaining. Recommendation rating: five stars!

Eating Skewers in a Lively Manner

Located right at the metro exit of Huazhaobi Station A, just a few minutes' walk to Chengdu Gua Chuanchuan. The sign is very conspicuous. When I walked up, I found the style unique, very Chinese—quite interesting.

The storefront decoration is grand. Inside, there are square tables with enough space between them, so it doesn't feel crowded. Sitting inside is comfortable.

The serving speed is fast. I must mention that their skewers are cold-pot skewers (cold pot chuanchuan). You choose your ingredients, and the shop cooks them and brings them out. No need to worry about whether they're cooked—just eat! Very convenient.

The dry dipping powder (gan die) is their specialty. It tastes great with lots of crushed peanuts. My friend loved it so much he wanted to ask the shop for the recipe, but that's impossible—the shop won't disclose it. The dry dip is good, but for someone like me who can't handle too much spice, it's not suitable. For those who love spicy food, this is your perfect dipping tool!

Besides skewers, they also have small bowl dishes. Many small bowls are quite tasty.

Recommended must-order items: Mala Hot Pot Noodles (Mao Huoguo Fen). The noodles are really delicious and very flavorful. Every strand is soaked in the spicy broth—absolutely amazing!

Mao Potato Cubes (Mao Tudou Tuotuo) are my favorite. Not too spicy, with potatoes and seasonings—so tasty. The potatoes are perfectly tender yet firm; one bowl isn't enough—I want a second!

My first time eating rabbit loin was at Chengdu Gua Chuanchuan. Unexpectedly, it was delicious—even better than I imagined. Tender texture, one bite each—truly satisfying.

After eating skewers, have some ice powder dessert (bingfen) to refresh—life is wonderful.

In Bieyuan, Savoring Time

This tavern, surrounded by greenery, lit by neon lights, and filled with various drinks and snacks, became an instant favorite among Chengdu's bar-goers.

In life, you may encounter many troubles, but on a night like this, a night of revelry with friends is a great choice. It can help you forget unpleasant things temporarily, allowing you to enjoy pleasant moments. Savor it, experience it!

This small tavern is actually near 339, on that bar street. Upon entering, you'll find the decoration quite stylish. The ambient lighting and atmosphere make you feel like you're at a midnight cocktail party, with a mysterious vibe.

The tavern has two floors. The staircase design to the upper floor is interesting, with flashing lights—it's also an Instagram-worthy spot. There are several rows of moving colored lights that change colors and move up and down, enhancing the tavern's atmosphere.

This place is like a museum of liquor.

Besides 75 types of liquor plus over 20 specialty cocktails, they recently added "hot pot liquor" (huoguo jiu). This drink scores full marks for appearance. You've had hot pot and drunk alcohol, but have you tried such a high-looking hot pot liquor? The outer shape resembles a traditional Beijing copper pot. Inside, there's mild unfiltered sake and strong vodka. The pot contains base ingredients like tangerine peel, cloves, dragon fruit, kumquats, and rose petals—romantic to the fullest.

The alcohol content is low, sweet and sour with a fruity and floral fragrance—appealing to both men and women. The portion is large; two or three people sharing one pot is enough. Sitting at the bar, admiring the bartender's fluid skills, is itself a wonderful enjoyment.

Perhaps in such moments, we can find the indulgent side of ourselves!

Give Yourself a Reason

I've finally understood: a person's life needs at least two impulses—one for a love that risks everything, and one for a trip that leaves on a whim...
